yeah its partially my fault... i remember giving him a few votes when he got real low, figuring he shouldn't have been out before some of the other people... but no way did i envision people would actually want him to win this...
Haha did the same for Ronnie and Pennington. But coach worked hard and was IMO the reason for the great season we had. All the great players like Ronnie, bought in and did a outstanding job. I believe Sparano did amazing work changing the attitude of this team so therefor deserves the accolades by winning survivor this offseason.
Ronnie Brown [22] + Tony Sparano [428] - i love Sparano, but hes the coach, hes not out there banging bodies... its like voting for the best US military serviceman and giving it to the president... sure hes giving orders, but the men out there actually following through with those orders and going to battle should get more attention and recognition... so moral of the story, voting for Sparano means you are not supporting out troops
Not really...If we were voting for the NFL commissioner then you could make that argument. I'll give you that perhaps it's like voting for a unit commander with the OC/DC being flight commanders and the SNCOs being line coaches, etc, etc... Of course, unit commander's always get credit for the work of their troops and rewards that match (i.e. higher levels of medals just because they're leading the unit). That doesn't mean I don't support the troops by giving them my love in other ways.
Yea, Sparano is more like the battalion commander. He's out there with the troops near the front lines, not banging bodies but close enough to be collateral damage..... And no matter how good the company is, if the cdr is a piece of s*&t, the company will not be able to excel. Good but not great.

I have to disagree some what, yes you need a good Commander, but the most important part of leadership are those on the battlefield that can see and make split second decisions that can turn the tide right now. The Command gives the order, but you have to have the leadership on the field to carry it out, and adjust fire as needed.
True, you need all the parts in working order to excel, but I was just discussing the comparison of Tony to the president as far as roles. Tony is a lot closer to the action than the CinC, not a good comparison. He has a much more direct impact than the rest of leadership/management. The field cdr is the team captain on the field, he has to be really good too, no doubt.
The argument is about to become circular. Yes, NCOs are the backbone of the AF and without them the work would not get done. I don't disagree. If your backbone sucks... But I've seen "senior leadership" screw up a very talented NCO corps by giving bad direction. The most talented folks can't win without proper direction. You need leadership in both places. Sparano helped the entire team move forward. Ronnie was one of the lower level leaders. I support them all, but am voting for the guy who helped change the attitude of the team. I appreciate your vote. We can't all agree on everything. Go Dolphins!
Man so true, ty for your service! During battle in sports and I would believe also combat, the battle is won through proper preparation. Now good preparation includes finding the right people to lead on the ground (or on the field) and giving them tools to succeed. The attitude and training of a unit create opportunity for success. All our players worked hard to achieve, but its survivor and the man with the plan wins IMO
