If there were pics or even a video of him from his time with the Phins that would truely be amazing and appreciated. I believe this is one...
Didn't know him, but a tragic loss, very sad indeed. I remember the name and the tragedy, but wasn't a dolphins fan back then.
I remember Overstreet..... I remember hearing the news and looking skyward and asking why. He was the next great back in Dolphin lore. I couldn't believe it. The thing I remember the most was how he wanted to get back on the field the next year. He had fumbled in the playoffs, causing the team a victory. I remember Hank Goldberg talking to him in the lockeroom on the radio. He was very upset. It was a bad run of luck for the Phins. Two of my fav players passed along that time as well, Rusty Chambers and Larry Gordon. I can't help but mention Joe Delaney here. He was another promising RB (Kansas City) who went into a river in the bayou to save two little girls from drowning, and he did; but Delaney himself could not swim and drowned.
I was going to mention Delaney and Gordon, add in Andra Franklin tearing up his knee and Marino had to go it alone. I can recall Overstreet playing in the CFL and everyone was excited when he was coming back to the Dolphins, and then he was just...gone. Same with Larry Gordon, he was jogging out in Phoenix and just died. Sad times.
Overstreet and Marino...we could've had a running game to support our passing game... Imagine the possibilities...
