I was just curious about this, but i am currently 20 and next May, May 7th i will be 21, now I go to school in Las Vegas, but i live in New York, and my drivers licences is New York, now New York and Vegas has a 3 hour time difference, Its 4:18 am here and 1:18:AM in vegas. Now when i turn 21, am i aloud to gamble at 9:00 PM Vegas time, 12:00 am New York time? I assume i would have to wait until im 21 in las vegas time but was just wondering.

 Unfortunately, your jurisdiction has preference over any other factor, Joe.

    Sorry.

Just remember, if you gamble play Blackjack; and if you play Blackjack, the odds are in your favor if you play CONSISTENTLY...can't emphasize that enough.

Old players will tell you: if you get a gut feeling on a certain deal, it's probably indigestion.

True dat...and even more importantly if you can...find a table where the other players are following the basic BJ strategy (gift shops sell the little cards for $1...follow it no matter what). Dealers will also help, its legal to use the cards as reference, but funny sometimes dealers dont always agree with the card. Just follow the card no matter what.

If you can arrange your friends to occupy and play those seats great (one of the best things is contolling the action at the table)...but watching a knucklehead (especially 3rd base) play incorrectly can kill the mojo of the whole table.

P.S. switch blackjack @ Imperial Palace is a hoot of a spin on the standard game

whatever you do, don't win big during those 3 hours. because then they'll find a way to take your money from you.

and from having spent my 21st in vegas, i'll tell you this:
    I MADE money playing poker.
I LOST money playing table games other than blackjack
I BLED money when my uncle forced me to play the slots against my will.

take from that whatever you may.

    I'll save you some trouble.

Don't gamble, period. The odds are not in your favor.

Vegas was not built on winners. Good luck, and if you learn the game of Craps you can really make some $$$.

Why not just wait 24 hours and save yourself the worry? You will have already waited 20 years and 364 days. What's one more day?

    lol Lies!

That game is very, very difficult to make money on unless someone goes on a crazy roll.

Stick to blackjack @ a table with people you know aren't playing like morons.

Blackjack with as few decks as possible, preferably ONE, and get a table with someone that knows what they are doing sitting all the way to the left (before the dealer's turn). Of course, the cards are "random" and it doesn't matter really, but it does help the table's psyche!

here is how i was taught how to play, and was wondering if there is a better way, but my buddy said to bet the pass line, and put a few bucks on craps in case 3, 12, or 2 get hit, so i don't lose anything, then he told me put odds on my passline, and keep betting the come, and keep putting odds on the pass line bet.

i played a little at turningstone up in Albany, and after an hour, i just broke even...

btw one game im never playing again is three card poker, its so addicting, and as fast as you go up, the quicker you fall

There's really no perfect strategy for it. The way your buddy told you is somewhat generic. Only problems are that a point gets established on a first roll, and then a 7 out on the next. You'd take a pretty big hit there unless your come bet was huge, which wouldn't make much sense.

Craps is really a ton of luck. The only way you can make significant money is really getting in on a hot roll, or parlaying a center action bet a few times.

Don't play BJ... Go buy any book by David Sklansky and read it until it's memorized, then buy more DS books. Then hit the poker tables next year. Poker is such easy money because everything thinks they're Phil Ivey... Go prepared and you'll kill.

Most of my blackjack leads to indigestion because I tend to hurry myself and not focus on the cards dealt and my logic goes out the window.

You said that in the gambling forum as well.

    To each his own.

    Anything in moderation is ok.

Just don't get carried away becauase it can happen, especially if you go to school in Vegas JT.

The problem with blackjack is that it can be intimidating if you're new to it. Because what you do affects other's at the table it isnt always the friendliest environment. I tend to only play it when I'm with a table of mostly friends/family. It is your best odds though.

I dont play table games often. Played some roulette when I was in a Vegas two trips ago and after a hot streak the morning we were leaving I paid for my trip.

I like poker slot machines because I can sit at a bar, get drink after drink, and still win some money. Some of the progressives are 1600 range, not bad lol.

As to your question. I dont think it matters. The state your drivers license is issued shouldnt affect how old you are. If they nitpicked that much wouldnt the time you were born be a bigger factor? Meaning, you cant gamble at 9pm the day before.

I always do very well when I take the time to play the game and don't overthink the situation or second guess the basic rules I know to be true about the game. Also I very much understand when I begin to go all ape**** so I just leave the table if there are others playing because I hate to mess other peoples hands up as well.

Follow the card...no one will ever complain....the card removes any NEWBIE guess work....the card is your friend...and after a while you wont be the NEW GUY and instead you will be tossing the evil eye to the one that fails to follow the card.

Ok, that makes you not that guy.

That guy would be the one to stand on a 16 against a face card bc they have a "feeling".
