This one is a bit more difficult to decide on, the best running back tandem in the AFC East.

I love Ronnie and Ricky, Washington and Jones are no stiffs, ditto Lynch and Jackson, and to me, Fred Taylor and Larry Mulroney are not that effective a duo.

There is not enough room to include third down specialists, but Kevin Faulk, Pat Cobbs could tip the scales one way or another.

IMO, it's very close between Ricky/Ronnie & TJ/Leon. I would give the nod to the Jets here, because Jones is the AFC's leading rusher, and Leon is a gamebreaker, a threat to score every time he touches the ball.

I do as well, but it is close, Leon Washington and Thomas Jones are a very good combo, to me Washington is more explosive then Ricky is, but RW can run the Wildcat but he doesn't also return kicks.

"If" P Cobbs returns kicks and does a great job we have the advantage.

I think so, what handicaps us is the kick return duties, if Patrick Cobbs can return kicks, we would have the best in the division hands down.

    Ricky and Ronnie

Although I think the Jets are a close second and might have a very good RB in Greene.

Based on last year it would be the Jets tandem. But to be honest i have to be biased and think its our tandem. I think they have a chance to really explode this year. Our success rides on it to a certain extent.

    I say this.

Put all the tandems behind the exact same O-line and I have little doubt R & R would run away with the show...Not even close IMO

This one is not even close, it's Brown and Williams by a landslide. Hell, even throw in Cobbs and you might have the best tandem in the league.

All three units are glamour positions Aqua, everyone knows who they are and what they think of them, and Wr is not as clear cut as it was Josh Reed is as good as G Lewis or an ancient Galloway, leaving Evans and Owens v Moss and Welker.

Its close but the edge goes to Jones/Washington. Jones is such a consistent TD scorer and Washington is a game breaker. Our backs need to learn to be more consistent then they could pass these 2 as the top tandem.

Brown imo is the best RB in the East therefore right there gives miami the advantage, throwing Williams in there just makes us that much better. There is so much you can do with Brown and Ricky, thats why the wild cat was so productive. If i am not mistaken, he was 5th in the East with TD passes...

The same D that let a QB that can't throw over 10 yards beat them, at home?

Lito Sheppard was third corner on the Eagles depth chart behind Samuel and Brown.

Scott was a Ray Lewis Mini Me

Leonhard benefited from having arguably the best FS in the league next to him.

All these players certainly have made their own marks on the league but lets see what they do out of those defensive systems. The Eagles have continuously had a top 5-10 defense the past decade and the Ravens defense since 2000.. if not before.

I do think that pairing Sheppard up with Revis (or vice versa) could be pretty bad; but IMO the Eagles did the right thing by letting Lito go. He is over-rated.

As far as Scott and Leonhard go we'll see how they do without the Ravens D around them.

As of the moment I don't think Miami wins but I don't think that it "isn't close".

    I dunno Edwin..

    league stats;

    Miami total defense(ypg) number 15, jets 16

Miami passing (ypg) number 25, jets 29

Miami rushing (ypg) numer 10, jets 7. We allowed 4.2, you allowed 3.7.. this was 102 yards less for the season, 6.3 yards a game

Miami receiving number 27, jets 29

Miami sacks, number 8, jets 7 we had 40, you 41, but we had a safety

Miami scoring number 9, jets 18

Miami touchdowns scored, number 7, jets tied with another team at 19

Miami tackles number 30, jets number 1. This is an interesting stat, it means your defense took more reps than ours by a lot we had 990, you had 1197, that's 207 more reps..

Miami interceptions number 8, jets tied with pats at 15
    Miami

soooo, it seems to me that the stats disagree with you, that in every meaningful stat we did better than you in all but one area.

Ricky and Ronnie. If either one of them goes down, the other guy can still be effective by himself for rest of the game/season. Leon can't carry the load by himself.

Ok i know this isn't the Defense thread and if you wanna stick this in there that's fine but here's the thing.

You say your defense isn't the same, well ours isn't either.

You upgraded corner. We drafted two corners.

You upgraded Safety, We got a safety.

You have a questionable OLB. So do we.

We got a DE/OLB back in Jason Taylor.

and our front line did decent enough last year and I think can only improve with some of the new packages they're talking about.

So it seems we're keeping pace at very least.

I chose the NY Jets...and it was really close.

Leon Washington is really good...and as Dolphin fans it seems like he always kills us.

I just think you get a 1200 yard guy and and a gamebreaker in that tandem.
Whereas, Ronnie has the potential, but until he does it...well we know this argument. Plus, Ricky isn't nearly as much of a big play threat at his age as Washington is.

If it was just a Ronnie Brown vs. Thomas Jones question, I'd lean towards Ronnie because I truly believe Ronnie will break out and is more talented and will put up a better numbers than Jones this year.

But as a tandem, I'll go with Jets....

    Jones & Washington
    Brown & Williams
    Maroney & Jackson
    Taylor & Mauroney

Ronnie proved in 2007 that he can be a Marshall Faulk type of back that makes plays in the running and passing game. If his knee holds up he is the best back in the division. That's why I give the edge to Miami.

I voted Lynch and Jackson. I think Ronnie is better than either, but at the same time I think Ricky is and always has been overrated by our fans. Especially at this point in his career.

    Jets.

A guy who has proven he can carry the load (300+ times a season) and is the reigning AFC rushing champion, plus the dynamic multi-purpose Washington. Its close, but give the nod to the G&W.

The fact is that you haven't seen them on the field. So there is a chance they may actually be WORSE, adjusting to a new system that not all the players might grasp.

Given his lack of carries earlier in his career, and just turning 30 now, I think TJ has another 2 solid years in him before he breaks down. Good thing he'll only be here for 2009, then... HE GONE! I love him, but Shonn Greene is the future.
