According to John Heyman, Brian Cashman ordered Arod to have the 2 days off on a conference call with Arod, Girardi, the Frankenstern Brothers and a few other top Yankee FO brass. Heyman is usually pretty good with getting info, especially with the NY teams and Scott Boras clients.

Also expect another firestorm to hit Arod as he was spotted partying in Miami at 2:30am with Kate Hudson on Friday night/early Saturday morning. Clearly if you're tired you shouldn't be out until 2:30 in the morning. I feel bad for the guy because sometimes he gets killed unfairly by the media but then other times like this he just does stuff that's just so dumb.

Initially I thought it might have been incentive based (as my earlier post suggested) but yesterday it was reported that A-Roids and Girardi had met behind closed doors, and that there was a lot of yelling & screaming, and then Girardi told media A-Roids will be taking a couple of days off.

What do you expect ? He is A-Roids, and people have been fawning all over him since he was 12 or 13 years old. In his world, rules are for other people, and not for him.

    :pity:
The reason people been "fawning" over him since he was 12 or 13 was because he was THAT GOOD...listen, more than half of baseball has experienced with steroids, the only reason arod name got brought up was, because he was the biggest name on that list.

With CC pitching, we need to win today. No excuses.

    I'm a Yankee fan BTW. :wink2:

I honestly think if the yankees can score 1 run today we win this game. CC is a Warm weather pitcher, i expect 8 innings out of him tonight, maybe a complete game... And i say he gets an RBI for fun

Nope. Told ya we'd lose 2 to the Sox and win 2 against the Yankees  now I wont make another prediction the rest of the year and retire undefeated.

I have a question for Yankee fans though. Is the strike zone for A-Rod always so small? He took about 5 perfect pitches that were called balls the last two days.

He always gets the small strike zone, like years ago, Greg Maddox got a huge one when he was pitching.

    well you can't predict that...

I thought Yankees did well today if you look at the fact that their starter left in the 2nd inning... once CC came out, and even when the yanks scored those three runs, i knew we would not win this game. I felt we did our best in this situation, wish the outcome was like that of Baltimore when Joba got out first inning and our bullpen came out strong to get the W. We need to get Arod to start hitting, Texiera is not getting the pitches he would be if he was... lets hope we start something after our break.

also no offence to florida, but we should have won this series, our bats did not show up. They have been missing for a while...

Ehhh I can't agree with that.

You scored 5 runs in two games without a DH. Thats National League baseball. Johnson does that to EVERYONE ask the Mets how he beat Santana in their pitchers duel.

    You didn't play badly.

Well it is offensive, because the Marlins won 2 of 3 and you are trying to marginalize their accomplishment. The Marlins have good pitching - Josh Johnson is one of the 3 best pitchers in baseball - yet you don't give them any credit. You say its your bats, not Marlins pitching.

I am really so mad at this team right now. So many opportunities for runs tonight, especially in the first five innings. Hanson was awful. AWFUL. We couldn't bring home one measly run during one of those innings he was pitching. Of course, Jeter gets a leadoff double in one of the innings, and the Yankees can't even bring HIM in. I'm just disgusted. No other words necessary.

Wang didn't even pitch bad at all tonight...just that one bad 1/3 of an inning. Joe shouldn't have even pinch hit for him in the top of the 6th.

    BLEH.

We should have won today, Left Basesloaded twice, the second time i shut the game off because i knew we would lose this game. Wang is getting better. I was very happy with his preformance today. Only one really bad 1/3 inning, but posda should have never thrown the ball to second. Hope wang gets another chance, as he had two decent starts...

I gave Johnsn a lot of credit. I said i was impressed with him, and was glad to see him pitch because i dont get to see that many NL pitchers. But i guess you missed that part of what i was saying...

He's a great young arm, but give me a break. He's not even the best pitcher in the NL East.

 at Hanson being "awful". He got into some jams and was able to get out of them. That's what good pitchers do. Hard to say someone who have up zero runs was awful. Ask Jorge Posada how awful Hanson was. He struck out all 3 times he faced him.

The Yankees bailed him out. He labored every inning, and this team couldn't get the job done once? Give me a break. He did not pitch well. The Yankees LOST more than Hanson WON.

Good call he's probably the 3rd best pitcher in the NL East. Johnson is probably a top 15 pitcher though.

Well he has a tendency to get himself into predicaments, and has also shown the ability to pitch his way out of them. So hate to break it to you bro, its not just because the awesome yankees broke down.

Yankees have been playing terrible lately, and sad to say they shown a HUGE weakness, and that is, if arod not playing, or playing poorly, so does the rest of this team... someone needs to step it up and take control of this team, and be a leader, and yeah im talking to you Jeter

Uh yes he is. Easily better than Santana. He proved that by outdueling him already this year.

He should have 3-4 more wins this season but he has gotten absolutely NO run support. And his ERA would be even lower but there have been a few games with a lead he's worked on his third pitch instead of going straight after hitters.

There are only a handful of pitchers that belong in the same sentence as him that are active pitchers.

OK, so he outdueled Santana in one May/June matchup and all of a sudden he's the superior pitcher? I hope you realize the flaw in that logic.

    These are nothing but excuses.

    If Santana doesn't, who does??

Oh come on dude, that is the homer statement of the year. Johnson is an excellent pitcher but no way is he better than Santana.

I could name 5 pitchers better than him in the NL alone...Lincecum, Santana, Oswalt, Webb, Haren, Hamels, maybe even guys like Billingsley and Peavy.

Sorry but that's a complete homer post here. Johnson is easily better than Santana? Come on. Johan Santana is either the best or 2nd best pitcher in baseball, depending on how you rank Roy Halladay. Johnson is good no doubt but he's not Santana, a future HOFer, yet.

And outdueling Santana do you mean the game the Mets lost 2-1 because Daniel Murphy dropped a fly ball in left field? The game that Santana had 0 earned runs on 3 hits, 1 walk and K'ed 13 in 7 innings? Hardily outdueling him. Johnson pitched great in that game too but if the Mets have a fielder that had a clue in LF the Mets would have won that game 1-0. Not really a good example or something to state your case. Especially since the next time Santana and Johnson faced each other, Santana out pitched him at Citi Field.

Like I said Johnson is probably in the top 15 pitchers but let's no go overboard here.

Get a grip. That awful pitcher who has been in MLB all of a month now has given up two earned runs in his last three starts and is 3-0. Yeah that's horrible. Hanson will be one of the best pitchers in the league in the not so distant future. You can take that to the bank.

I hate the Yankees (obviously), but I want to pull my hair out when Joba pitches. For a guy who went to college, he has ZERO pitching knowledge. How many times does he get ahead 0-2 and throw a fastball right down the middle?

He was on, but made some bad mistakes. The homer to Frenchie was a perfect example, he gets ahead then throws a slider right down the middle. You pound Jeff up and in with three fastballs and he takes a seat.
