Maybe not. http://www.miamiherald.com/sports/fo...y/1110224.html ''I talked to Vontae, and he was here all day on June 9,'' Dolphins spokesman Harvey Greene said. ``In addition, it was an OTA [organized team activity] day he participated in. Following the on-field activities, there was a rookie symposium that didn't end until 3:30. So, it's physically impossible for him to be in Champaign at 6:47.'' Maybe another Vontae Davis in Ill.?
Yeah, and their is no public record of it either. Supposedly someone in a local paper reported it and other sources have picked it up. EDIT: I found it. Click the link to see the public record. It doesn't say anything about music, only that he drove without a license. https://secure.jtsmith.com/clerk/yytt331s.asp DOUBLE EDIT: You need to type in his name and click 'traffic'. Its def him.
This link works: http://www.miamiherald.com/sports/football/story/1110224.html I don't care if it was him. I'm just happy they didn't find any weed! Its a big deal when a pro athlete gets pulled over and they weren't drunk/holding.
Yeah, a 20 year old kid can be excused for something as petty as driving without a valid license. I, on the other hand, got the same charge a couple years ago. My defense was "laziness". LOL
Davis and Dolphins say it didn't happen Pretty compelling evidence. The incident occurred in Champaigne, IL June 9 at 6:47pm. http://www.sun-sentinel.com/sports/...-dolphins-vontae-davis-062309,0,7105571.story Whoever it was, was cited for not having a valid license. What, did the police take the person's word for it? Sounds like mistaken identity. Somebody has some explaining to do.
I'm normally one of those people who don't give the benefit of the doubt to the player. My usual response is WTF was he thinking. But....this one does seem kind of....dubious I guess. I've been caught before driving with a suspended license due to non payment of a traffic ticket. I wasn't arrested. I was written a ticket and my car was towed. Unnecessary vehicular noise sounds like loud mufflers (or no mufflers) or as someone also stated a loud stereo. Those are all infractions. And you don't normally get arrested for infractions. You get ticketed and fined. So there's either more to it or the report is completely erroneous.
Strange....probably is just a case of mistaken identity of some kind. My Dad knows about having a traffic citation put on your record by someone posing as you at the scene of the accident/citation It's happened.
DC address... Sure does seem to be. Oh, well... Not that it's a real big deal, though... His Wikipedia has been updated, too... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vontae_Davis Maybe one of his "buddies" gave the cops Vontae's name and address because he had a warrant or something?
Next time a cop wants to give me a ticket, I'll tell him that I don't have my license on me and that my name is Chad Pennington!
Just don't say your Wanstache, they'll beat you like the Whack-a-Mole at a Chuck E Cheese!! I did just see this tidbit. http://www.profootballtalk.com/2009/06/23/davis-arrest-a-case-of-wrong-identity/
So I wasn't on all day...And first thing I read is that 'tae got arrested. My first thought was literally "Already?" hahaha im glad its nothing.
This situation is stupid. Theres just no other way to put it. Its a stupid situation that may not even be true and if it is it seems like the police are just going after an NFL player just becuase. Loud noises is hardly a reason for being arrested.
I think they should cut Davis immediately. The Phins need to show everyone they're not going to stand by idly while their players go out and get their wallets stolen by people who play loud music. This will forever be a dark stain on the honor of the Miami Dolphins. I may never watch a game again.
hell it shouldnt be called an arrest,in the Daily Illini's retraction they said Fontae was given a "notice to appear" so Fontae wanst even arrested, he got a ticket.
