The age-old question of arena rock acts. All three are good, regardless of how they are portrayed by the "too hip for the room" crowd. My vote goes to REO. Much more of a pure rock act than the others.
Yea it was tough for me. Their early albums definitely had the prog feel to it. Once "Mr. Roboto" came out though.... But man..."The Grand Illusion" was some record.
I'd have to give them each a fair listen to judge them. Cartman's bastardized version of "come sail away" will be stuck in my head for the next 10 years, though.
oh the wheel in the sky keeps on turning....dont know where ill be tomorrow..... like lucky, ive always had a thing for journey. ive been listening to them alot lately. *hides mancard from being taken*
Gotta go with Journey on this one. So many songs I remember growing up. BTW, anybody remember the Journey video game? I love Reo and Styx too, 'Come Sail Away' has always been a favorite of mine.
"Lady" was on the radio the other day. I was diggin the lead guitar on that song. And I like how the singer uses the word "lad" in Come Sail Away. I hate Journey and I hate their recent revival. Speedwagon is ok.
Had to go with Styx, based on my great love for "Renegade". Got free tickets to see Styx, REO, and Survivor a few years back. Fun show. You should have seen people freak out at the opening riff of "Eye of the Tiger"-it was like walking through a Rocky montage.
Their all ok. But I love Journey. The music and Perry's voice was phenominal to me. Some of their songs can make you just weep, not cry, weep.
Reo Speedwagon has some cool tunes (Keep Pushin', Riding the Storm Out, Roll with the changes) Styx sucks IMO there isn't one song I like from them but Journey has a plethera of good songs (Who's crying now, Faithfully, Don't Stop Believing, Wheel in The Sky, Loving, Touching, Squezing, Any Way You Want it, Feeling That way, With a Tear etc.)
Journey always sounded the same to me, like Boston does. Had to go with Styx, Pieces of Eight was the most memorable album. Sad thing is, they all were "roller skating" rock...
REO Styx Journey Is the order for my pref. I like them all but REO really fired it up. Especially with Gary on the guitar even though his replacement was good too. 157 Riverside Avenue live kicked butt.
