Phil Simms said that when he was with the Parcell's coached Giants, they had a saying: "10 wins and your in" Meaning in the playoffs, so here is our 2009 schedule, were will the 10 wins come from: @Atlanta Sun 09/13 1:00 PM EDT Indianapolis Mon 09/21 8:30 PM EDT @ San Diego Sun 09/27 4:15 PM EDT Buffalo Sun 10/04 4:05 PM EDT New York Jets Mon 10/12 8:20 PM EDT New Orleans Sun 10/25 4:15 PM EDT @ New York Jets Sun 11/01 1:00 PM EST @ New England Sun 11/08 1:00 PM EST Tampa Bay Sun 11/15 1:00 PM EST @ Carolina Thu 11/19 8:20 PM EST @ Buffalo Sun 11/29 1:00 PM EST New England Sun 12/06 8:20 PM EST @ Jacksonville Sun 12/13 1:00 PM EST @ Tennessee Sun 12/20 1:00 PM EST Houston Sun 12/27 1:00 PM EST Pittsburgh Sun 01/03 1:00 PM EST

Games I'm worried about that could throw it out of whack: @ATL, TB, @CAR, HOU Games we could possibly win that I list a loss: @NYJ, @BUF, @NE, @JAC It's early and we haven't settled on our roster yet. Ask me again after pre-season.
Nice thread Padre... I guess a majority of the games this year will be decided by how the Officiation crews favor the QBs. Since Brady was hurt last year the NFL's passing of the Brady Rule (no touching the Qb or you will be penalized), I expect the great known QBs to be heavily favored... That being said, I see us loosing to TB, PM, and Big Ben just because of the officials... With a healthy team, we should take both from the Jets and the Bills (maybe a split with the Bills) and wins against the rest... Even though I can see us beating Indi, because of their D... IMHO, we will surprise...

I could really see us going 10-6 what some other games coming down to the wire.
@Atlanta Sun 09/13 1:00 PM EDT Indianapolis Mon 09/21 8:30 PM EDT @ San Diego Sun 09/27 4:15 PM EDT Buffalo Sun 10/04 4:05 PM EDT New York Jets Mon 10/12 8:20 PM EDT New Orleans Sun 10/25 4:15 PM EDT @ New York Jets Sun 11/01 1:00 PM EST @ New England Sun 11/08 1:00 PM EST Tampa Bay Sun 11/15 1:00 PM EST @ Carolina Thu 11/19 8:20 PM EST @ Buffalo Sun 11/29 1:00 PM EST New England Sun 12/06 8:20 PM EST @ Jacksonville Sun 12/13 1:00 PM EST @ Tennessee Sun 12/20 1:00 PM EST Houston Sun 12/27 1:00 PM EST Pittsburgh Sun 01/03 1:00 PM EST Well, IMO we beat the Falcons on opening day, their defense is not very good. Indy/We'll see, these first two games will really test our new pass rushers, JT and JP will be fresh, IMO they make the difference. Start out 2-0 Head to San Diego, which on paper is a toss up game, but in reality the game hinges on whether or not LT is diminished, I think the Bolts take that game 2-1 Bills, Jets, NO. I think we win 2 of 3...4-2 Jets, Pats, Tampa, Ryan is a smart HC, I can't see us beating them twice in two weeks, and the Pats game will be a war, we can take Tampa. 1-2/5-4 Carolina, Bills, Pats We sweep the Bills, beat Carolina, the Pats we lose to. 2-1/7-5 The home stretch: Jags, Titans, Texans, Steelers. We beat the Jags, Titans and Texans, lose to Steelers unless they play their backups, with Big Ben being injured in the final game last yr, we won't see him. 4-0/3-1 10-6 or 11-5, to me the Chargers and Atlanta and Indy are the keys to our season, if we sweep those three, we are playoff bound, and we finally get the Texan monkey off of our backs..
Yep. I dont look at the schedule and fear any game, I dont say that we should lose any game either. I know we WILL lose a few, but I believe we CAN beat any of those teams.
That schedule's lookin tough Compadre.. I like the win against the falcons, were an excellent road team, and you can usually expect rookie qb's who have a phenominal first year to come back to earth. I think offseason work ethic and attention to ninja execution is to much for the falcons, they just dont scare me, their defense cant match up with us and with our defense got more athletic and complex, i like the game. The indy game at home scares the crap out of me, and its not our football team that worries me, its our fans in such a big game that does, can we unify ourselves like our team has and purposely make a difference. Its monday night, big game, lotta hype, If our team can win that game and our fans actually make a difference. I think that would be the arrival that the rest of the NFL would respect, and for a lot of us, would be the level of performance that we've been dreaming of for so very long. I just cant look past those two first games brother.
Indeed, and consider "if" we lose those games, our path to 10-6 means we have to sweep the Jets and beat the Saints, or split or sweep the Patriots and beat the Chargers. So we'd have to got 2-0 v the Jets and beat Drew Brees or We split with the Jets, sweep the Patriots and beat either the Chargers or the Saints, or both and split with the Patriots. Those first 3 games are massively important, that cannot be understated, if we start out 3-0, and win our last 4, we only need to find 3 more wins for the entire season.
i thought we were home against Atlanta. hmn. thats a great opener, the two surprise stories of 08' in week 1! who's da pretender?!!?!
no team on that list scares me, well except one. theres no real juggernaut anymore. the steelers are not some dominant impregnable superbowl goliath. theyre a good club. carolina and jacksonville love to suck every other year. maybe they both suck next year. the bucs, colts, and saints could be tough or cake walks. its hard to predict the state of those franchises, but it aint great, thats for sure. the chargers are still coached by norv turner. the titans lost the key to their defense, and have kerry collin as a qb, so you cant just chalk us up as a L, they're not the 85 bears either. bring on the season, some of the teams on that list will suck, others will surprise. but the only game that scares me is the stoooooooopid freakin texans, who always burn our asses.
I agree theres no real juggernaut, so whats it come down to in winning a champioship in this league brother?. Unity, chemistry, hunger...check Discipline..check Hi level {ninja} execution...Striving for Coaching and scheme...check Chips on shoulders...check It all adds up to a Dangerous Football Team. We win those first 2 games..real dangerous.

Sneaky, as well as possible, basically if I "get" your thinking, every team that overachieved last season, we defeat? They slide back, we move forward?
@Atlanta Sun 09/13 1:00 PM EDT Indianapolis Mon 09/21 8:30 PM EDT @ San Diego Sun 09/27 4:15 PM EDT Buffalo Sun 10/04 4:05 PM EDT New York Jets Mon 10/12 8:20 PM EDT New Orleans Sun 10/25 4:15 PM EDT @ New York Jets Sun 11/01 1:00 PM EST @ New England Sun 11/08 1:00 PM EST Tampa Bay Sun 11/15 1:00 PM EST @ Carolina Thu 11/19 8:20 PM EST @ Buffalo Sun 11/29 1:00 PM EST New England Sun 12/06 8:20 PM EST @ Jacksonville Sun 12/13 1:00 PM EST @ Tennessee Sun 12/20 1:00 PM EST Houston Sun 12/27 1:00 PM EST Pittsburgh Sun 01/03 1:00 PM EST
Steelers probably rest their starters. Late in the year. I think we can contain a Charlie Batch led team.
True, then again SB Champs tend to drop off after winning they may be fighting for a playoff spot and surprisingly, we may have already clinched one... Strategically speaking, "if" we win those first two games, we are in a much much better position to make 10-6 and the playoffs. Add in a victory against the Texans and we could approach 11-5 again..win the first two, we only have to go 8-6 the rest of the season and we are better then a .500 team for 14 games so it is very reachable.
Stop complaining about the officials People that blame the officials are just people that make excuses.
I like this topic. Since we have a rough schedule its hard to pick but here goes.... @Atlanta Sun 09/13 1:00 PM EDT Indianapolis Mon 09/21 8:30 PM EDT Buffalo Sun 10/04 4:05 PM EDT New York Jets Mon 10/12 8:20 PM EDT @ New York Jets Sun 11/01 1:00 PM EST @ Buffalo Sun 11/29 1:00 PM EST New England Sun 12/06 8:20 PM EST @ Jacksonville Sun 12/13 1:00 PM EST Houston Sun 12/27 1:00 PM EST Pittsburgh Sun 01/03 1:00 PM EST I think they are all winable games. There are also others that are winable but we'll see.
I'm probably [I will] catch some flack for this, but the bolded games I think are the ones Miami wins. I think the Phins slide back this year with a tougher schedule. 7-9 is what I'll say...
A fair question Coloradosteve. For me, the Jets have a good running game, but have the same problem, if "we" can't beeat them twice in two weeks, how will they beat us twice in two weeks with untested Qb's and relatively raw Wr?
It will be interesting to see if Pennington stays healthy this year. He's never been healthy for two straight years once in his career.
I can never look at a schedule and say, "we'll win that one or we'll lose that one". If I ever start doing that, I'll stop watching the games
That is a bit of an Urban Legend PS17, what led to that perception was CP10 playing with a bad shoulder during the 2004 playoff run, he reinjured his shoulder and wasn't healthy again until 2006. The last season the Jets made the playoffs, the next season (07) "mangenius" played him during the Giatns/Jets final preseason game and he twisted his ankle and was never healthy that year. Best believe, HC Sparano will not make that mistake, we see CP for maybe a half in the third preseason game and then it's Henne and White for 14 of the 16 Qtrs of the preseason.
I see CP in preseason..... game 1 2 series game 2 1 quarter game 3 3 quarters game 4 coaching Henne and White Just my opinion, but game 3 is the big one and everybody needs to be focused for opening day.
If the point one is grasping for is Mangini was a moron while with the Jets, then indeed, point proven.
No, my point is he can't stay healthy. He's injury prone - preseason or not, and you can't deny that. He got injured frequently long before Mangini, lol.
I just believe we can beat anybody if we play well. I just can't predict the days when we play like crap or just plain get our butts handed to us.......like Baltimore did to us....twice.
