More or less, I suspect they'd prefer to see Henne and White even more then what you proposed. Penny has been in the NFL for 10yrs, if they don't know what he does by now, Sparano needs a helicopter beenie...
True that, it is easy as fishing to type out which games we will win or lose even before we have a final roster or see what the injury situation is heading into September. However, we are fans, no more, no less, it costs us nothing to make a guess...
combined with an old disgruntled running back and average receivers. I honestly dont know how anyone could think that..objectively They were a brett farve prayer from being swept by a 1 and 15 team.
im sure this has been commented already but, Why on earth are we playing the Jets 2 out of 3 weeks?!!! That is soo gosh darm stupid. we have a stretch with 4 afc east games in 5 weeks? thats just awful scheduling. even with the bi being in there, its awful. i like to savor our rival games throughout the course of the season.
Objectively though Djphinfan, the Jets are merely one piece of the puzzle, and one that coaches like DC Pasqauloni and Bowles can solve, especially with a Rookie Qb. Chances are good, we sweep them, however that should not be assumed as Ryan is a defensive savant, but CP has seen it all, and our "D" is much much better this year, we won the afc east with street free agent Cb's, we've upgraded that unit..
Oh and into his nice magazine spread?? In all seriousness, the kid has potential yes but he is no Matt Ryan or Big Ben. He will not be a first year wonder and lead the Jets to 10+ wins. He will be inconsistent and make mistakes like 98% of rookie quarterbacks. Now if you ask me how he will be in 2-3 seasons i think he will be a very solid Qb for you guys but not outstanding. I just dont think he's gunna be this season what most jets fans expect out of him. It'll take time.
See, this is one of the problems with Jets fans, CP literally played himself until his injury could have threatened his career, he played with a torn rotator cuff, the injury that ended Greise's career, and one simply overlooks what a BMF CP is. Don't worry sweety, Pennington will be just fine this season, in fact, he will set more career highs. But then again, Jets fans do have a nice pic of Dirty Sanchez, a "softish" pic at that
Sanchez is not entering good circumstances for a rookie qb. he has no vet mentors to guide him. just other young underachievers. he has no great offensive coach to cultivate him, just a green kid and a defensive head coach who came from a perennial defensive powerhouse. and he has a below average wr corps. why on earth would we look past "the rookie thing"? this kid is going to face serious issues and was dealt an inferior education on the position.
if CP does get hurt(God forbid), im more than happy with who we have waiting in the wings. we are a deep club at qb, with tons of potential and kids who are earning a real pedigree.
ok Padre31...lol, your funny bro. Chances are good, objectively. you know it sounds kinda corny, but i dont think teams will be able to keep up with us, eventually the work ethic and discipline that this team is showing each other, is their biggest strength.
True, however for the purposes of the thread, CP will remain healthy, Chad Henne is the unspoken. "if" both Chads are injured, P White will be cut loose by OC Henning, we will undergo a remarkable change in a single game, one just knows that a OC who has a a QB who runs 4.5 40's and can throw deep opens all sorts of possibilities. Tuna, Irish and Sparano know what they are doing, and add in Ronnie Brown finally at 100% and Ted Ginn jr, this is the most explosive Phins offense in 10 or 15 years.
nice not figuring out that i knew the joke buddy....now thats funny. I was about to get shot in the foot and you blew it. unless "cut the kid a break" was the next line.. lol
i know you knew. we were all just paraphrasing, and i threw in the fuggehdabboudit in there for extra emphases.(i was bein deniro)

even though this was a couple pages back, I agree. You guys remember 2 kids named Flacco and Ryan? i'm not saying that Sanchez is going to go out on the field and just dominate or have a stellar defense to win him games like Flacco did but just cause he's a rook doesn't mean anything really. though the chances are stacked against it.
Mark Snackcheese is gonna wake up one day and realize he has to play against NFL defenses every week, and that the largest city in the world is counting on him. Then he will melt like a snow cone in Dolphin stadium in September. I can't wait for him to meet Joey Porter and Jason Taylor. Hopefully he'll be looking up while they greet him.
he shoots the joke in the foot and he tells him to go **** himself, good for you Spider, don't take nothin off of nobody...what's the world coming to? As for Sanchez vis a vis Flacco and Ryan, keep in mind both Rook Qb's set records last season, and both had far more starting Qb experience in College then Sanchez did. And the Jets defense was terrible against the pass last season, Lito Shepherd is not going to make that huge a difference..
Sorry, that is not my style, I am not making excusses and never had... It is a team game...and this new rule that will be interesting to see how they work it for the first few weeks... It will have an early impact on Defenses stopping opponents on 3rd downs... Prima Donna QBs will have their cake... we will see...

Take care of business in our own stadium the final two weeks of the season and we're in. In that case if anything else, I like our chances with the tough mentality this team is structured around. That along with the potential of Pittsburgh resting starters in Week 17.
There is NO way the Jets sweep us, I also believe we get at least a split with the Patriots this year. All the local media here in Boston as well as many nation wide is giving Brady a free pass to return to dominance, he wont. He had a horrible knee injury with multiple complications. He is going to be tentative to say the least and have some rust. I also do not believe they addressed their defensive and RB needs. Indy had a coaching overall, much to the dismay of Peyton, and there will be many kinks to work out, glad we get them early. Anyway, here is how I see it: @Atlanta Sun 09/13 1:00 PM EDT Indianapolis Mon 09/21 8:30 PM EDT @ San Diego Sun 09/27 4:15 PM EDT Buffalo Sun 10/04 4:05 PM EDT New York Jets Mon 10/12 8:20 PM EDT New Orleans Sun 10/25 4:15 PM EDT @ New York Jets Sun 11/01 1:00 PM EST @ New England Sun 11/08 1:00 PM EST Tampa Bay Sun 11/15 1:00 PM EST @ Carolina Thu 11/19 8:20 PM EST @ Buffalo Sun 11/29 1:00 PM EST New England Sun 12/06 8:20 PM EST @ Jacksonville Sun 12/13 1:00 PM EST @ Tennessee Sun 12/20 1:00 PM EST Houston Sun 12/27 1:00 PM EST Pittsburgh Sun 01/03 1:00 PM EST 11-5 and playoff bound.....
He won't be in a position to make mistakes. He's just gonna be asked to handoff the ball and don't make any stupid mistakes. Good, short throws until he finds his rhythm. He has a great supporting cast with the O-Line and running game paired with the defense. The WR's really aren't the worst in NFL history lime some of you are making it out to be. We have a better than average received in Jerricho Cotchery and some young unknowns with talent. (Stuckey, Smith, Clowney) Dont sleep on Keller either. Sanchez will be in one of the better offensive situations in the league. Posted via Mobile Device
W @Atlanta...Atl steps back in season 2 W Indianapolis...Colts need time to adjust to changes (+ humidity) L @ San Diego...West coast after Monday night?!?!?!?!? W Buffalo...Not impressed with Bills W New York Jets...Fins sky high, rookie QB, no Ed Reed for Ryan W New Orleans...NO D from NO, one dimensional O, 8-8 last year with a 5000 yard passer L @ New York Jets...Could go either way, Jest don't scare me L @ New England...They should be mad about last year embarrassment, they have two weeks with bye W Tampa Bay...TB takes 5 steps back L @ Carolina...Tough running team, short week W@ Buffalo...Still not impressed W New England...Division on the line, will be like old times on Monday Night W @ Jacksonville...Jags need to rebuild L @ Tennessee...Very tough place to play, Titans motivated and focused after last year W Houston...The curse is broken L Pittsburgh...Depends on Steelers playoff status I really think 10-6 or 11-5 is realistic. Certainly could lose ATL, IND, @BUF, NE, but could win @SD, @NYJ, @TEN, PIT. Yea we have a tougher schedule, but after losing the 1st 2 last year (1-17 over two years), this team went 11-3! And they have to be a better team with the offseason additions. NE has almost the same tough schedule, and I would rather play Pitt, @ home, in week 17, than play Balt again anyway. SD should be tougher than Denver, but the Patsies do have to play them at Mile High. We're all biased. But I really think we can win this division again. NE's age is going to catch-up with them sooner than people think. It always does.
Not being a homer but I see us winning winning both of our games against the Jets and Bills. The Jets don't have a QB, and if Jet's fans think Sanchez is just going to step in and win they are mistaken. I think the Bills have also fallen off...they added TO.... big deal.....there are lots of problems in Buffalo. I see us splitting our games with New England who we usually play tough. So there is five wins in our six division games. The other six wins: Atlanta, Tampa, Carolina, Jacsksonville, Tennessee and Houston. So we finish 11-5. WINs in Bold: @Atlanta Sun 09/13 1:00 PM EDT Indianapolis Mon 09/21 8:30 PM EDT @ San Diego Sun 09/27 4:15 PM EDT Buffalo Sun 10/04 4:05 PM EDT New York Jets Mon 10/12 8:20 PM EDT New Orleans Sun 10/25 4:15 PM EDT @ New York Jets Sun 11/01 1:00 PM EST @ New England Sun 11/08 1:00 PM EST Tampa Bay Sun 11/15 1:00 PM EST @ Carolina Thu 11/19 8:20 PM EST @ Buffalo Sun 11/29 1:00 PM EST New England Sun 12/06 8:20 PM EST @ Jacksonville Sun 12/13 1:00 PM EST @ Tennessee Sun 12/20 1:00 PM EST Houston Sun 12/27 1:00 PM EST Pittsburgh Sun 01/03 1:00 PM EST
John Elway was twice the QB that Mark Sanchez is, and one of the smartest QB's ever, and he was horrible in his rookie season. For every QB like Dan Marino and Matt Ryan who have great rookie seasons, there are hundreds who simply have average to horrible rookie seasons. Sanchez will not be facing the Oregon State Beavers, Arizona Wildcats, or Washington State Cougars. This is the Big Boy's League. Sanchez would probably be better off watching Clemens for a year, but hey I guess if he wants to take his lumps now that is probably better for his future seasons in NYC. I do think Sanchez will be a good NFL QB, but don't expect more than about a 6-10 season for the Jets.
The problem is, until Sanchez proves he can attack the 20-30 yd area in a defense, teams will put 8 men in the box and eat the Jets running game and short passing game for lunch, and with that man defenders around the los, Int's and sacks will also happen frequently. To me the Jets strength this season will be Ryan's defense, but unless K Rhodes morphs into Ed Reed, they still have the same personnel who were terrible against the pass last season.

The difference is CP has shown he can still find the open man even with 8 men in the box, that is the benefit of experience, hard earned experience.
