The Heat could be in position to finish off its roster by choosing from a group of 2009 free agents and salary-cap exceptions with which to work. One particular name comes to mind: Jason Kidd. Considering the 36-year-old is in search of only a championship at this point in his career, and given his familiarity with fellow Olympians Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh, it's hardly a stretch to believe Kidd would make his way to Miami. And given how most are expecting large paydays hard to come by this summer, it's likely the Heat could have him at a bargain price. He's a playmaker at the point, one of the best defenders at the position, an ideal mentor to Mario Chalmers and the type of all-time great Pat Riley would ride with any day.

told ya'll beasely is a SF. he doesnt have the physical build to compete with bigger, stronger PFs. He will be a 3 and play 4 when we go small.

MIAMI is looking like an 8th seed right now. The East is getting so strong, especially our division. Orlando landed Vince Carter, Atlanta got Jamal Crawford, Randy Foye and Mike Miller to a healthy Washington Wizards team. Yikes. I am afraid that if we hold off until next offseason, our regression due to much stronger competition in the East is going to push Dwyane out the door. We've got to land Chris Bosh. Right now.

    Keep your pants on.

We will get better by just getting older. we are a young team.

beasley will be better...Mario Chalmers will be better...DC will be better.....for that matter...J.O. will be healthier....

    so......NOPE. relax.

Wade isn't going anywhere. Do you really think he is going to take 30 million dollars less to play somewhere else? get real.

If his team DECLINES in 2009-2010? Yes.

And this line-up right now, if everyone stays healthy... currently trailing Orlando, Boston, Cleveland, Atlanta, Washington, Philadelphia.

    ah...no.

give me the number of your drug dealer.

NOBODY would LEAVE MIAMI of all places for 30 million less.

    and we are not regressing.

the worst thing we can do is jump the gun and ruin our future by dumping Beasley for a guy we are gonna get anyway.

That Beverely kid we traded for is supposedly the very definition of "potential"

We'll leave him over in Ukraine for a year or two I suppose.

Beverely is a PG from everything I've read about him. His competition at the moment is Chris Quinn, so he should have a great chance to earn some PT.

I really, really liked Dozier in college but I question his transition to the NBA. He's so frail, but he's got the frame to add weight.

I think that with what we had to work with, you can't really put a grade on it. Our draft position is almost the near equivalent to going into the NFL Draft with a 5th and 7th rounder.

If Beverly and/or Dozier ever contribute to this team, then it's a major plus. If not, then it's moot, IMO.

Also... I'm hearing that Memphis offered Thabeet, Gay, and Conley for Beasley and Chalmers.

If comfortable that we'd be able to land Bosh or Amare next summer, I don't know if I decline that deal.

OMG if true i would do that trade in a heart beat I like Beasley and Chalmers but Gay, Conley, and Thabeet with D-Wade, Cook, Moon and Haslem with the opportunity of getting Bosh or Amare in 2010 - 2011 is a dream come true come on Riley do it make it happen.

My guy wouldn;t elaborate but he did say that memphis kept on "INSISTING" on a trade all night.

we flat out turned them down.

I did hear that we inquired for Amare and we got turned down.
I know that we offered D. Cook in that deal. So I would say that we offered something like Blount, Cook, Haslem, for Amare and filler.

No way they make that deal.

and face it, the only way we can make a significant move is if we throw Beasely in there. Otherwise we can trade some of our role players and get back in return another team's set of role players who most likely wont have as much of a difference than if we kept those players. Just sayin, theres only two options for us right now: 1. We trade Beasely and either Haslem/Cook/Both/someone else? or we wait until 2010 and keep Beasely and hope we can land a good FA. Either way we're gambling and taking a big risk.

Wade is not feelling the love FN, can anyone blame him? Athletes think about competing...right now...not 16 months from now, P Riley wants his name on a contract extension, Wade doesn't want to end up like Tim Hardaway, next year may as well be another dimension for D Wade.

Does anyone see this as a response to Riley's "We arent going to do anything before Wade signs his extension"? Wade now saying hes not going to sign his extension until we do something...

Sounds kinda like a 'which comes first, the chicken or the egg' kinda scenario.

Who will blink first? IMO, Wade has more leverage in this situation...

this is a bunch of media made up Bull****. and you guys fell for it.

    non news.

a simple google search finds 14 statements...YES fourteen OF Wade saying he wants to stay here his whole career.

    that doesn't get reported though.

Well, the way I understand it, Wade if he stays will be pretty much locked into a set contract of "X" dollars for "X" number of years, the only way to avoid that is to sign elsewhere for a shorter contract.

Beasely must be feeling about 2 inches tall at the moment, the more Wade speaks, the less his value appears to be in Wade's eyes...

    (just zinging Sect a bit...)

Well, if he signed a short term contract he still would have one more MAX contract in his future, if he signs with Miami, that is pretty much all she wrote, he wins in Miami, or nowhere else realistically speaking.

I've seen "the plan" fail on several occasions in several different sports E, and DWade is my favorite NBA player and I would hate to see him waste away on a "good" Heat team that just never makes it over the hump again.

The problem with "the plan" type of situation is it assumes every other team in the NBA will do nothing, and everything breaks correctly for the team instituting "the plan" and it seldomly works out like that.

Put it this way Hedo was set to sign with Portland, it looked like a done deal until his wifey said "I think I like Toronto" and off he went to Canada, stuff like that happens all the time in pro sports.

A digression but one of the things I like about Sparano/Ireland/Tuna is they never fall for "the plan" they are willing to try whatever it takes to win and they don't simply throw money at problems they develop players or find them wherever they may be...

If he signed a 2 year deal and got hurt...he will LOSE 90 million dollars.

    nope.

He will take a max deal...taking a 2 year deal is ridiculous for anybody playing into their FIRST max contract.

So you are arguing for the Heat to be the anti-sparano/Tuna.

The Heat is doing (has done) exactly what the Dolphins are doing.

They are MIRROR images. Except that the heat has a YOUNGER nucleus.

No, they would find a niche's player, that is what the Tuna does.

BTW Sect, there is no guarantee the salary cap moves upwards next season, in fact it could decline down to 53 million or so (per ESPN radio's Broussard).

That is 5 million less for "the plan".

Cap numbers to be announced this evening:

That would be James jones. Daquan Cook...Mario Chalmers...retaining Haslem...the shell of our next championship team is already here.

The Heat's rebuild is a mirror image of the Dolphins. Right down to the fact that both went from the worst record in the league to the playoffs in ONE year.

anyway..if the cap goes down..it doesn;t matter...the Heat will still enjoy the status of being the team with the most cap space.

and that article is Bunk BTW. The Players have an out in 2011. They will not push their luck. The owners know better.

and if it wasn't..it would make your argument of Wade taking a 90 million dollar (can be up to 120 million) paycut that more ridiculous.
