too early to predict anything, haven't even put the pads on yet & there have been simular threads started by padre31 & others speculating on who will survive the cut this season. I offer you my unprofessional flawed prediction on the possible 53 that will survive based solely on what I have read & personal opinion. I do this in the spirit of the Doldrums & in an attempt to keep the forum agile & active. Feel free to make any corrections, additions, subtractions or present an entirely new roster of 53. Everything is valid. My list of 53 OFFENSE: QB - Chad Pennington, Chad Henne, Pat White (R) RB - Ronnie Brown, Ricky Williams, Patrick Cobbs, FB - Lousaka Polite, WR - Ted Ginn Jr., Patrick Turner (R), Brian Hartline (R) WR - Davone Bess, Greg Camarillo, Anthony Armstrong (Brennan Marion (R - injured) practice squad) TE - Anthony Fasano, Joey Haynos, Ernest Wilford (John Nalbone (R), practice squad) LT - Jake Long, Andrew Gardner (R) RT - Vernon Carey, C – Jake Grove, Joe Berger LG - Justin Smiley, Shawn Murphy ( Mark Lewis (R) & JD Quinn(R) practice squad) RG - Donald Thomas, Brandon Frye DEFENSE: LE - Kendall Langford, Tony McDaniel, Rodrique Wright NT -Jason Ferguson, Paul Soliai {Starks or McDaniel can fill in @ NT} (Louis Ellis (R) practice squad) RE - Phillip Merling, Randy Starks, Lionel Dotson SLB - Matt Roth, Jason Taylor, Erik Walden WLB - Joey Porter, Charlie Anderson, Cameron Wake ILB - Channing Crowder IL B- Akin Ayodele, J.D. Folsom (Tearrius George practice squad) LCB - Will Allen, Vontae Davis (R) RCB - Eric Green, Sean Smith (R), Jason Allen FS - Gibril Wilson, Chris Clemons SS - Yeremiah Bell, Tyrone Culver Special Teams: K - Dan Carpenter P- Brandon Field LS- Jason Taylor KR- GinnJr, Armstrong PR- Bess, Cobbs Gunners- Jason Allen, Cameron Wake, Brian Hartline, Tyrone Culver
I think Martin goes, Wilford stays. Has a lot to do with money & the fact that they are both verteran players who were WR's converted to TE & Martin is coming off an injury Jason Taylor has played LS before & is excellent @ getting the ball back, this would free up another position on the roster & give Taylor more time on the field.
Not bad 23, consider though that Polite could also lose his roster spot to E Wilford, Fb's are not as important as the used to be. And IMO, unless Armstrong can return kicks at a super high level, he won't make the team.
Ernest Wilford over Polite. I'm not saying Wilford won't make the roster, because he has a good shot of doing so. But unless Wilford can lead block and be viable 3rd/4th & Short option (as a runner), I doubt he'll stay at Polite's expsense. Edit: Plus, Polite was just extended several weeks ago.
They also may believe that Ronnie Brown should be able to pick up those 3rd and 4th down runs. WE resigned Michael Lehan last season and cut him 5 games into the season.
