He will be missed, and I really hated to read this update

    http://www.tennessean.com/article/20090704/SPORTS01/90704013

The Nashville paper is calling it a murder-suicide.

That was kind of where my head was leaning when I first heard about it today. I can't speak to what happened in his life to get him there, wife, kids etc... in any case two people are dead and it's terrible.

and when the Titans literally "locked him out" of the facilities, and treated him like dirt, he handled it with dignity and class. he moved on to the Ravens. he didnt disparage anyone, despite the humiliation and disrespect.

wish lord favre would take a page from his book of NFL class.

I totally agree. Heck, you didn't even have to mention charities he was involved in. Cheating, seperated, whatever......he did not deserve death. IF indeed that is what this is over.

Couldn't agree more. Its funny when you look the difference in the character between him and McNair, especially considering how incredibly similar they were as players in my opinion. Its also a shame, Favre being a media whore while Steve has always been very classy.

    Growing more bizarre

I saw the police spokesman was fielding questions on this earlier.

    http://www.nashvillepost.com/news/2009/7/4/details_shed_new_light_on_mcnairs_death

McNair was dead less than 12 hours later.

Witnesses had to have seen this. Usually it's loud and public.

That's awful. Does everything have to be settled with a damn gun nowadays? If you want a piece of someone, fight them with your fists, not with weapons.

:( This is a sad time for the NFL. Steve was all heart and played through the toughest of injuries for the love of the game, and as a fan of this sport, I have endless amounts of respect for him and what he did.

    May he R.I.P.

I will admit the first thing i thought of when i first heard this was a murder-suicide, and that is the way it is looking. The way it looks is, she killed him and then herself, but i would not be surprised if someone was involved

yeah one of my favorites for sure. I got a text message about it and got very sad. rip steve, you were the type of qb most teams kill themselves for, stayed out of trouble for the most part, and from most word of mouth you were a good person. :(

I don't think it's anyone's place to judge or even form an opinion, and I always say that when people discuss "cheating" from and outside view. We don't know the in's and out's of his relationship with his wife and/or what led to his decision to seek the interest of another woman. For all we know their relationship could have been completely broken. Tons of people remain married, especially when children are involved. It's been reported that their house was up for sale, so who knows. Honestly I don't want to know. Not really my place. No offense, but let's keep that one between the parties involved, bro.

Rest in peace, Air McNair. He was already missed on the football field. I can only imagine how his family and loved ones feel, especially those poor children. All four of them. He'll surely be missed in the community as well... based on everything I've seen and read, what a remarkable guy. Seems like he put his community on his shoulders and it's really unfortunate that it had to end this way. 36-years old man... embarking on life after football. Tragic.

I used to have his and Eddie George's jerseys back in the day. The Titans have always been my second favorite team next to my beloved Dolphins. I was bummed with McNair went the Ravens but I know he wanted to stay in Tennessee but they had different plans. Even tho he signed with a team I dispise, the Ravens, I still had the utmost respect for him. What made it better was being able to watch him throw to his old teammate Derrick Mason. He was one the best QBs of the last decade and a true warrior. RIP Air McNair

Sad time for all NFL fans. Steve McNair was one of my favorite Quarterbacks to watch in the late 90's/early 00's as I was growing up and when he played through so many injuries from 2002-2008, it showed just how tough he as and even with the injuries was able to win Co-MVP in 2003. Basically played on one leg in 2002 for the final 5 games and won them all, giving Tennessee a 11-5 record and giving them a 2nd AFC Championship Game in 4 years.

His game will be missed and I feel so very bad for his sons.

    R.I.P. Steve.

Something along the lines "**** a quarterback. Where is Steve Mcnair in 2009. RIP Sahel Kazemi" on his status. Not sure if its the exact words but thats the jist of it. It said his last log in was 7/2.

Living in Tennessee I saw him play for years and there wasn't a tougher player in a Titans uniform the years he played. He was a true legend on the field and it is shocking how his life ended.

    RIP Air McNair

Well the press conference today said that the door was locked on the inside and the guy who found the bodies had to use a key to open the door. That coupled with the fact that there was no forced entry or exit seems to make it very likely the killer was inside the apartment and still was (hence it is almost assuredly the girlfriend).

Yea. Somehow I don't think McNair shot her once and then shot himself 2 times in the chest and 2 more in the head.

He probably said something along the lines of it being almost over with his wife and the gf thought that meant she would be the new wife.

Then, she went nuts when it wasn't happening. I would guess.

yeah could be. Could be he decided to go back to the wife. Like I said it doesn't seem like he was being very secretive about this, so I tend right now to side with he was in the process of divorce.

Real life... that's what's going on.

This type of stuff unfortunately happens every day to all kinds of people not just famous ones.

McNair was one of the true class acts of the NFL as much as one can tell from the outside. Too bad when the good ones get taken.
