Bale's character def is. They just make him as bland and boring as possible. Depp has the only show stealing performance, which makes sense.

This movie didn't have anything on Heat, IMO.

It didn't really get into a lot of the folklore around Dillinger either which was a little surprising.

You can see him use the wooden gun when escaping that second prison though.

I loved that prison breakout...the wooden gun was so cool...I loved that they didn't even mention it. They screwed up alot of the history though. For example..baby Face Nelson did not die at teh Little Bohemian. he died a month later and the guy that killed him was an older man that had never fired his gun in the Line of duty.

They also portrayed Purvis as a supercop and he wasn;t. He screwed up most of the investigation into Dillinger.

a pretty big mistake....Pretty Boy Floyd died AFTER Dillinger died. Not before. It is also not clear that Purvis killed him.

I know, that def did bother me.

    Also
The woman in the red dress? They totally jumbled that all up. They had her in it at the beginning of the movie when they meet and just went completely away from the history.

I saw both Public Enemies and The Hangover the past two days. Public Enemies was well acted, and I appreciated the lighting and verisimilitude of the time period, yet, I'll admit, I got extremely bored. I even checked Twitter during the film! Now, I did not expect to like the Hangover so much. No offense to the majority of the readers, but I expected silly male humor, which I often find fleetingly funny. I was LMAO this whole movie.

You guys, if you haven't already, should read the Stephen King short story "The Death of Jack Hamilton."

    Good stuff.

The last time I heard about a funny movie that I just had to see it was "Stepbrothers" which I thought was just okay...

My wife and I were laughing throughout all of "The Hangover."

"Let the Right One In." Disturbing, and yet sweet at times. But mostly disturbing. And quite well done.

Tommy Boy - I love this movie. I find it disturbing how much David Spade has changed since this move though, without aging much it seems.

Watched The Battle of Shaker Heights this morning... Pretty good movie...

Then tonight I watched Jumanji with my kids. Loved pointing out the places I've been in the movie... It was filmed in my home town... :wink2:

BTW ... I want to give a shout out to the two movies I watched immediately before "Let the Right One In." I watched "Poltergeist" and "The Omega Man" -- both on glorious Blu-Ray. Amazing to see how both have held up. Fans of "I Am Legend" in particular should give "Omega Man" a look.

I saw transformers dos -- I liked it. Its not as good as the first one, but the first one had the anticipation of seeing all the robots for the first time. I think overall a fun film, although at one point seemed like there was alot going on. Overall a solid 7/10

I saw Public Enemies on Sunday. Great film, did Dillinger actually walk into apolice station or was that poetic license, I know apoint they were trying to make was that the FBI was inept under Hoover but no one can possibly be that stupid.

I saw Push and The Unborn yesterday,

Push was ok, alot of holes and inconsistencies with the characters. Not worth seeing twice, IMO.

The Unborn, was a good story, could have been a better movie...but it wasnt a bad movie.

I watched this ton for the first time in a few years and it is still damn good.

The only thing that pisses me off was

How that dumbass girl and her moron brother **** everything up for Heston.

O yea and that's a hell of a spear throw by whitey at the end there.

I do think the whole I am Legend and movies like it with the "monsters who are afraid or hurt by light" thing is flawed. If you were Will Smith or Charlton Heston, wouldn't you think to just keep turning on/making more and more lights and building it up until the entire city was always bright and the infected were driven out or had no way to get to you?

Not very smart for them being scientists.

Saw 'Just Friends' yet again the other night. One of my favorite movies ever. Great cast, and hilarious from start to finish. Ryan Reynolds is pure gold in that role.

The Proposal and I must say it was funny as hell. Great for both men & women, surprisingly. I went their with the expectation I was going to laugh a few times, but for the most part it would be okay and I would only be saved by Ryan Reynolds once or twice for about 2 minutes. Not at all. Outstanding flick.

And I saw Public Enemies the day before and that was just as good if not better. Johnny Depp was amazing and I thought Christian Bale did a stand up job as well (OH, GOOD FOR YOU, AND HOW WERE THE LIGHTS!?).

Both are movies I'd highly recommend.

Benjamin Button - Not as good as I was hoping for. Really long and did not
like his reverting back to a infant that was kind of stupid
Also the clock would have been in a Museum or someone would've bought it, not in a basement with junk.

Quantum of Solace - I thought it was good some stupid parts in it but it was better than the first one. I really really like the Bond chic in it wow just stunning. Also the whole parachute scene was ridiculous they would have splat going that fast.

If you read the novella, it's pretty interesting, Benjamin has to act younger than his kids and it's a really different story.
