Seriously. I've heard that John Terry isn't making that much a week and the most that Man City would have offered Terry a week was 130k. Now they are offering 170k to Adebayor? They're like the Washington Redskins of soccer now.

Yeah they are ludicrous. I've heard that teams are quickly running out of mone, specifically Real Madrid after their summer spending. THough they're about to get some money as they are nearly completing the selling of Huntelaar to Stuttgart.

What I like though is that Manchester United, Arsenal and Liverpool have stated they refuse to take part in the crazy spending, even though Liverpool just dished out 28 million pounds for Johnson. SAF said that he "refuses to pay" the expensive prices for top tier players. As for Arsene, well he's just Arsene. He never spends a lot anyways.

Damn that is a lot. Those better be some good seats lol.

    EDIT:

    For AC fans:

Sorry to hear. I think this is a good thing for Arsenal because maybe they will then turn to Adebayor. They lost out on the Huntelaar sweapstakes as well and were ready to pay 36 million for Adebayor last year. Maybe they'll offer it this time around?

    Good for Juve fans.

You guys know anything about him?

Last, all reports are saying that Arsene is targeting Chamakh. I don't know how to feel about that.

Wher did you hear that mate. I thought they were on about offering in the region of 220k for Terry?

So what do you guys think about Carlos Tevez signing for Man City ? And did they sell Dunne to Sunderland?

Downing to A Villa from Boro, and I believe that Sunderland have beaten Hull to the signing of Frazer Campbell too.

Just checked this out and Downing and Dunne have not been signed yet

Gareth Southgate has insisted that Middlesbrough have not yet received any offers, although he expects his squad to look very different when the new season kicks off.

Players such as Tuncay Sanli and Stewart Downing have been linked with moves away from The Riverside following Boro's relegation to the Championship.

Southgate maintains that there are no firm bids on the table but he is realistic about the chances of keeping some of his key men.

"At the moment we have had no bids. We have had enquiries over people and speculative interest but no firm offers for anybody," he told Sky Sports News.

"The squad as it stands is well balanced and has a lot of quality. I don't expect it to be the same squad when we kick off in four weeks and I have to monitor the possibility of other players coming in.

"I would like to retain everybody who wants to be here and is ready for the challenge of trying to get us back up."

Personally I think that Spurs and Villa are mad to entertain a bid around £10 million for a player of his quality. But Villa may be resigned to losing Ashley Young to Man Utd, so watch this space :tongue2:

I read that when Man City made their first bid for John Terry.

EDIT: According to Adebayor, deal is done. He just has to get a work permit tomorrow and Arsenal will have twenty five million to spend.

Matuidi or Chantome, Chamakh to be in a Gunners kit in the near future?

There are no good seats at Watford! lol

I think Nouble could be good for someone - probabaly a championship side for year but they did have a good youth pogramme in place - Brendan Rodgers who is now a reading did well with the youngsters when there and Mourinio thinks highly of him so wouldn't suprise me to see him at Reading on loan this year.

I would find in funny if Tevez only gets on from the bench again, thats 5 strikers City have now so theres going to be a few unhappy guys.

Apparently Downing is at Villa today, possible £12mil - at least he didn't go to Sp*rs I suppose!

I hope Arsene makes a cheeky bid for Ashley Young - he's a local lad so a move back closer to home might be good.

Sunderland beat out Hull for Campbell and look to sign Peter Crouch for £11mil according to Sky Sports news - not a bad move but Portsmouth are looking in a terrrible state.

    Sky Sports say

18.22 Emmanuel Adebayor's move to Manchester City looks to be edging closer with the news he has been granted a work permit.

21.11 Chelsea captain John Terry will be leading the Premier League club for years to come no matter how much Manchester City offer for him, chief executive Peter Kenyon has told Sky News.

23.00 Well that's about it for Wednesday's transfer clockwatch. It's been another intriguing day of activity, with Manchester City again dominating the headlines. John Terry and Emmanuel Adebayor remain firm targets, while elsewhere Jason Scotland joined Wigan and Stewart Downing closed on a move to Aston Villa

News reports now say that Terry wants to leave but Chelseas wont let him go. Funny that as Kenyon said only days ago that if Terry wanted to leave for Man City he only had to say he wanted to go, and he could leave

I remember reading that! Glad to see Adebayor on his way out. Apparently for roughly 22-25 million, which I can't complain about. Though I'm worried on who we will use it on. I think its going to be Chamakh, who we have all read about, and I'm nervous about that acquisition. His touch on the ball is very inconsistent, as is his finishing.

Also, Juve sealed the move for Melo today.

The problem is always replacing a player, even if you think it a worthwhile sale. Adebayor is a class act but his character is definitley questionable. £25 million doesn't buy much, but in Wenger you may get a steal for £5 million on someone no one has even heard of yet. BTW is Vela still at Arsenal ?

I've heard he was going to purchase Chamakh for about £9. I also wonder if we'll be linked to Frederic Nemani again and he could be a really cheap buy.

Vela is still at Arsenal.

Does anyone know how reliable this site is?

    Also, from Sky.

Wonder if Milan shows interest again? I know Chelsea was also interested before Man City got involved. Hopefully the price is driven up. :D

There has been a ridiculous amount of interest in prospects from Serbia and Bosnia this off-season. I've never seen it like this before but off the top of my head, there's about eight prospects that are being sought after. Edin Dzeko was the first name of course but his price tag is too high it seems. Vedad Ibisevic has had a lot of talk and for good reason; he racked up something like seventeen goals in eighteen games before he blew out his knee. Then after him there's Nikola Zigic right now, who apparently 12 to 15 teams have shown interest in him while there's Pjanic - can't remember his first name - but he's a hot prospect, then there's another two of them and now Veljko Batrovic. Batrovic is fifteen years old and has received interest from clubs such as Arsenal and Real Madrid. Batrovic will be going on trials with Arsenal.

Please forgive me but is Zigic the big tall guy ? If he is there will be a place for him in some of the second and third echelon of premiership teams for sure.

That whole region is a goldmine for good footballers Alen. Teams from that region are all very technically sound, even a small and new country like Montenegro are able to compete against teams like Ireland, Italy and Bulgaria. Serbia and Croatia are always very strong and Bosnia should have qualified for a major tounament by now, barely missing out a few times.

    Hleb and Eto'o for Zlatan???????????????????

To me that makes no sense what so ever. Ibrahimovic is very over-rated, in-consistant and has never delivered on the big stage IMO. I would have actually taught that Inter would have to offer another player aswell as Zlatan.

According to Sky, that deal may fall through because of the money that Eto'o wants weekly. Too high.

Also, Adebayor officially sold for 25 million. Wenger is targeting Obafemi Martins apparently. Caught me by surprise.

EDIT: Also to add, there are rumours swirling that City could be after Vidic after their pursuit of Terry ends. I've also heard that AC Milan is after Hernanes, the Brazilian player of the year and defensive midfielder of Sao Paulo.

Would be very happy if the Gunners could take Martins off Newcastle. A very in-consistant player, with an awful first touch and direct style of play. He is very quick and will have a shot from anywhere, but his passing can be shocking and thats when he does pass. I've never been a fan of Martins, but with better coaching, which Aresnal would easily have, he could become a better player. Injuries are also a concern when it comes to Martins.

Yeah, it seems like Wenger's trying to find another guy who needs polishing and then make him into a star. Your description of Martins is basically the same thing I see with Marouame Chamakh, the striker of Bordeaux, who Arsene is also to have quite a bit of interest in. However, I don't see that happening now that Fullham, Tottenham and Sunderland have joined the race to sign him. I assume that we'll move on from Chamakh as the price tag is more than likely to go up. I also came across a report this morning from Sky that linked us to Tolouse striker Andre-Pierre Gignac. Gignac is a one hit wonder, kind of like Edin Dzeko, so it makes me a bit nervous but according to French scouts, he's very good in the air with the ball, a great finisher and is very dangerous on set pieces. He's only 23 and has a lot of growing up to do in terms of polishing his soccer talents. The thing that I find interesting with him is that he can't play the wing, as Tolouse tried him on the outside when he first started his career and he was an absolute mess. We'll see if Arsene goes after him though, the transfer tag has been anywhere between 7.5 and 18 million euros from what I've seen.

Looks like a very tidy finisher, but I'm usually abit wary of putting too much stock into Youtube highlights as they dont show when they **** up . I dont know much on Gignac, but so of those goals on that video were very well taken and it would seem that finishing is his best quality.

However the French League is an inferior league to what he would be entering if he joined Aresnal. If he joined it might take him a while to adjust to the speed and less time players have on the ball in the Premiership.

For Arsenal fans: I took the players on the roster and their transfer fees to see just how much money Arsene has spent assembling this squad and I came up with £87.34. The average spending per player is £ 3.23. That's very little IMO. To put it in perspective, our biggest spending was Arshavin for £15 I believe and in comparison, the biggest for Man City is £32 (Robinho).

I think we should be fine if we stay healthy. We had a lot of drawn games last year and while we beat clubs like Man Utd, we lost to Hull. That can't happen anymore and I think we'll see less of that this upcoming season. I think if we stay healthy, we should be fine. We can't have Fabregas miss games.

I think we could have trouble if we don't buy a couple other players such as a striker, midfielder and I wouldn't mind seeing another centre back. Vermealan was added from Ajax and even though he was a captain of Ajax, they did allow a plethora of goals (43 IIRC). I'd like to see another tall centre back, maybe the rumored Naldo or Hangeland.

I dont think that Aresnal can continue to get away with an average of £3.2m per player. Thats what Wenger built Aresnal on, but that was during different times. Its no surprise that Aresnal have'nt won anything in 4 years, as Man U, Liverpool and Chelsea all ran away from them financially. I mean before that Aresnal were in top 2 best teams in the Premiership. When Chelsea and Liverpool started spending money, they became the 4th best in the league and that position came under pressure for most part of last season.

With Man City now spending big and even taking one of Aresnal's big players away in the process, I would be very concerned that you could find yourselves out of the top 4, which would mean no Champions League football and even less money than there currently is.

If Wenger does'nt spend some of that cash (or is'nt allowed too) then I think if Aresnal suffer significant injuries to even one or two players, there going to be in trouble.

Oh man. We haven't even started the regular season and we are all banged up. This sucks. I hope Arsene goes out and buys some talent.

Completely agree on all points. What I don't understand is Usmanov offered to inject £60 million into the team but the board rejected it, saying we could win on a low budget. That doesn't make much sense to me and if I was Arsene, I would be very upset.

Anyone else watching Club Amerika v. AC Milan? Ronaldinho still looks a little bit top heavy in my opinion and a step slow to each ball. I also wonder how long until the age catches up with Milan. There's a pretty big gap right in front of the eighteen box often this game through the first half. Milan is playing with great pace though, despite the subtraction of Pirlo, Pato and the sold Kaka. I just worry about that back four.

I believe Arsene's been a long time admirer of Kalou so this is expected, it was just a matter of when.

EDIT: There's a rumour going on right now that Arsene is preparing a 17M bid for Mirko Vucinic of Roma.

Also, Juve will only sell Trezequet OUTSIDE of Italy.

EDIT2: "7.29 According to reports in a few of Monday's newspapers, Manchester City are closing in on the signing of Arsenal defender Kolo Toure following John Terry's decision to stay at Chelsea. A fee for Toure is mooted at anywhere between £10million and £15million."

****. Does Wenger plan on suiting anyone up this season? I'm guessing he has faith in Djourou?

Yeah, I've heard a lot of rumours that Wenger or someone on the staff believes that Toure isn't the same player he once was. I watched the pre-season trial yesterday, in which Eduardo played by the way, and Toure looked pretty good to me.

EDIT: Apparently the reason for the sale of Toure is because there could be a deal set in stone for Hangeland.
