...I want my DirecTV! (Sorry Mark Knopfler) DirecTV is on their way to get me hooked up, including Sunday Ticket! No more missed Dolphins games due to the Jaguars, thankfully.
had it for 2 years....never had a inch of a problem.....love dvr.....love nfl ticket.....love all the channels.....and love that they give ya free movie channels sometimes so i record some flicks not one complaint about directv
Yeah brother I had FiOS in my temp house here in Texas. Unfortunately, I now live out in the sticks where they haven't run their network yet I am bugging both ATT and Verizon weekly to notify me ASAP when it is available in my neighborhood. As mentioned, I will Dith that Direct Beatch ASAP BTW: How do you like those incrdible load speeds on FiOS brother
I enjoy my DirectTV so far and will like it more come football season. It beats the pants off time warner cable.
Having access to the main three in Delaware(Fios, Directv, and Comcast). I'd have to say that Directv blows the other two out of the water.
Really? That's interesting. Since having to go to Direct, my bills are 15.00 more a month, the signal is sometimes fuzzy, I have less watchable channels (Cmon man, I bet I have nearly 70 channels of religion and infomercials on Direct) and the internet is not nearly as fast as FiOS.... Aside from that......
In my experience when a channel/show is fuzzy it is not a problem limited to directTV. With that said instances of fuzzy programming have been few and far between.
ive had direct tv for 2 months now and i love it, outside of a couple times when it is a bad storm outside, i havent had a single problem.
Amazing bro...nothing touches it. And WAY more HD channels! Phone service is damn good too! Can't deal with DirecTV....had it for awhile. Every time Mother Nature farted I'd lose the picture. Can't deal with not having TV anytime it was stormy out. Fios rules.
Well I live in a household that loves sports. We have all of the sport packages(the ticket, center ice, etc.). We have a pretty big bill so I couldn't really compare. The only issue I have have with Directv is sometimes I'll have to go through the setup menu and reinstall the dish. Takes about 5 minutes but I usually notice a big improvement. With digital cable I have always had a problem with the picture being choppy. Never knew what the problem was but have experienced it on both Fios and Comcast. Oh and at least to my eyes I don't think their HD looks as crisp as DTV. Don't all cable providers have those pointless channels? I've never notice it but thats mainly because I'm not a scroller. I pretty much go to the same 30 or so channels. I've never had their internet(still using Comcast). I'd be curious to what the price difference was between theirs and others though. Comcast is pretty expensive.
With Fios I'm getting the internet, telephone with unlimited local and long distance, and cable with ALL the movie channels for about $175 a month.
Oh and I would like to add that I would never use Comcast Cable again. They are terrible. I feel as though I had to reset the box every other day. Their support is awful. Plus, never make their appointments on time. And they are pretty expensive.
I had Direct TV for a year. Every month my bill was wrong, by about $50-$100. So they would turn it off every month. I'd call them, show them the error, they'd fix it, then try to charge me a reconnect fee. Then I had to return a few extra receivers (roommates moved out). They sent me boxes to pack them in. They were delivered in the rain when I wasn't home. Told them to send me more boxes. They charged $400 for the unreturned receivers. I explained the situation, they said it was in the system there was nothing they could do, other than have me pay it now and my money will be refunded later. I pay it, cause the wife and I can't really afford to go out, so the TV and computer are pretty much the extent of our entertainment budget. They send me 1 box, instead of 2. I send it back to them. They apply only $200 of the $400 to my next bill, and then shut my service off again, because they forgot to apply that $200 right away. They tried again to get me to pay a reconnect fee. I tell them to finally f-off, and canceled my service. Since I signed a two year contract they decided they were going to charge me $500 to break the contract. I told them to straight up kiss my ***. They said it will automatically be coming out of my account through my debit card. I canceled my card before they could. To this day they are still sending me crap in the mail, to re-up with them. I hate Direct TV
That is really good. My parents have all that(minus the movie channels) and I spend about 10 hours a week there. Never had a big problem with Fios other than some random feed issues and a slow menu. Oh and in the Philly area you can't get one of the big local sport channels. I personally never have a house phone. Just use my cell for everything. But then again I'm about to turn 25 so I'm sure that will all change down the line.
Yeah, I have also already had some bad run-ins with Direct as well, not to mention the installer put a huge gash in my brand-spankin new Hardwood floor and not even 5 minuted after I told him to watch out for the Oak Of course, I can't really blame the last incident on Direct, but the overall experience is MUCH less than spectacular with them
Keep in mind FiOS (Fiber optic Sysem for those that are interested) is indeed Verizon's flavor of Fiber Optic networking, so they of course offer a package that includes Cell phone instead of Landline
This from FiOS? I had a landline, Smokin fast internet and middle package TV (No movies, DVR and 2 STB,s) and was paying just under 80.00 a month
Well damn all you naysayers-my installer was awesome, everything works, picture is crystal clear. I finally get to watch NFL Network again! FiOS is not an option for me-not available. AT & T Uverse (Same thing as FiOS) is in town, but not on my street. Bright House cable doesn't carry NFLN and has only about 35-40 HD channels. And Sunday Ticket, well, nothing beats that.
I personally apologize for hyjacking and souring your thread brother Completely and totally uncalled for on my part. Enjoy the games
Holy hell dude...must be a Cali thing. I have landline, top package internet, 1 HD box with a DVR and one box in the bedroom that allows me to watch what I DVRed in the living room, and all the movie channels. I have my own horror story with DirecTV and their sales staff, but I won't hijack the thread any more.
DirecTV has been the best television experience I've ever had. I love being able to do everything online. Hell, I called to upgrade my service on Monday (I had questions) and they gave me a $100 credit unsolicited (because I'm a longtime customer). No upsell, nothing. Just because. The picture was a stark upgrade to my cable when I first got it. Picture is great. Customer service is great. They've got all the channels, and they have a lot of things first. Changes I make online to my service happen within seconds. I've never had a problem with them. Weather is weather. That's a caveat you know going in, which is why I kept cable too for football season ($18/m for HD channels only...Bright House). But when hurricanes rolled thru here, my DirecTV was back as soon as the skies cleared. My cable was out for 2 days. The only thing I don't like is signing a contract. But when they're the only option for NFL Ticket, I didn't mind. And I've long since surpassed my contract term. As for internet, satellite internet is (or should be considered) more of a last resort than a primary option. I have extensive and ongoing experience with pretty much all the providers in the Tampa Bay area, be it for TV, internet, T1's etc, business and residential. As far as 'conventional' providers go, I won't deal with Verizon unless I have to. They're just too big, and customer service is terrible across the board. Bright House's network is just as good and they are quite competitive. Verizon has them beat on some of the internet pricing, but not on all of it. And there are some key areas/details where Bright House flat wins out. The "asterisk" commercials are true. Can't wait for DirecTV to get here tomorrow and get me upgraded!
I have no issues with Directv. I've had it for over 12 years, I also tape all the games so I kind of need it. If I ever have any problems, they always make it right and are always giving me some kind of discount.
how much extra is the dvr box for direct tv? im going to call up soon to get one for the living room, i should of gotten one in the beginning but i just figured the HD box was also a DVR...
Exactly. Look no further than the "half off the Ticket" thread, which I do not at all agree with or endorse.
Well here's how "wonderful" DirecTV was to me.... I had Time Warner, and wanted Sunday Ticket, so I called DirecTV, and told them EXACTLY what I had with TW. One HD DVR in the living room, one regular box in the bedroom. ALL the movie channels. Told them the price I had with Time Warner and asked them if they could beat that price. The woman came up with a price $20 lower a month, so I was quite happy. I asked at least THREE times, "is this the FINAL monthly price, or are their hidden costs that will appear on my bill?" Three times she told me that it was the price including taxes and fees. Again, I was happy, so I scheduled the install for the following Saturday. Saturday comes and the kid arrives and pulls out the two boxes. I notice that The one for the living room isn't a DVR. I ask him about it and he says it's not on the work order. I look at the work order and see that they have me down for HD but not the DVR. I tell him to call his office. They get me on the phone and say that the DVR will be $19.99 a month more. I tell them that the woman gave me the price for everything and their answer was an unbelievable "Well, she shouldn't have told you that." I'm all set to say well screw it, I'll pay the extra $20 and break even, at least I can still get Sunday Ticket. She THEN informs me that the price was what it was for the first three months due to the new customer special, but then because of my movie channels it'll go up by $40 after that. I went nuclear. I told her that I was telling the installer to pack his **** and leave, and was going back to TW. She had the BALLS to say that I might be charged an early cancellation fee! I told her that the service was hooked up for precisely 30 minutes while I was arguing with her, and that I wasn't paying a thin dime. The kid packed everything up and left and I went back to TW, who were more than happy to give me SERIOUS deals for coming back. To put the cherry on top of this disguto-sundae....the next week I actually get a BILL from DirecTV for ONE DAY'S SERVICE. The profanity when I called them is still lingering in the atmosphere somewhere like in "A Christmas Story". I'll never deal with that company again. They can offer me FREE service and I'll tell them to **** off.
we have cox cable here, HD is free. got sick and tired of having satellite go out everytime there is a little lightning. direct or dish is not bad if you live in california, but in the midwest it sucks to have either one. besides we have the internet, phone and TV with cox cable and we get a discount. plus, since we have phne service, when somebody calls it gives the phone number on the tv so we can see if we want to answer it.
