I don't care what anybody says I like the Madden franchise. Have loved it since the first one came out and I will be buying this one when it comes out.
blah... I'm glad i get games free... I wouldn't spend more than $20 on this crap. On that note, I can't wait
me too from what i understand about '10 franchise mode is that you get gems. well, you know how in previous madden games where if you drafted a guy in the 6th round you knew his overall was gonna suck? this year scout all rounds because you'll find a gem (say, a tom brady for example) where you get a great player in the later rounds. that's just an example. they've hand coded all the drafts IIRC so it's not just molds of players coming out time and time again
Sounds like a simple roster update to me. Fire everyone who works on Madden because they don't do jack****!!!!!!!!!!
oh please. Talk about PR speak. most of that is **** that should have been int he game 5 years ago. Better progression? smarter cpu signings? Better scheduling? You've been making this game for over 20 years EA! wtf.
This guy gets it. Anyway whether or not EA delivers on the promises is up in the air (and their record doesn't do them well) but I like what they are saying. I want to see them put out a good game even if it means criticism is a part of that.
I just hope the phins franchise goes better than last years. Wow did it suck when no one plays any games
Well, they never add just one feature. But aside from that if all they did was change the rosters it would still sell big. So I really don't think it has anything to do with some realization on their part.
People will always find a way to "trick" the computer....although it has gotten better. I remember in 2003 there was a blitz out of Quarters where u could sack the QB basically every time and sometimes even get to him before he could hand it off.... I was in a madden league here in Columbus and won the Columbus North League only to play a guy in the finals at Dave and busters who used the Rams and put Holt and Bruce at TE and ran out of the Goalline...that shnit was impossible to stop.
It's that kind of **** that pisses me off, and it's why I refuse to play online, unless I know the people or it's in a league where the rules are laid out beforehand (ie. sim-play).
Mainly quoted this so it wouldn't be ignored... Hopefully a new team can make a big difference in Madden. I think criticism is never going to stop with Madden because of 2k fanboys. Some of them just feel that, even if Madden puts out a better product, they need to say how great 2k was as if it were their life destiny.
That "inside the helmet" feature is still the best use of Football technology ever in a video game!!!!!!!
i just to get the Madden VS 2K fires burning... I really dont care. I really do think EA has put out a significantly inferior product every year and they dont deserve any of the sales they'll get. Peter Moore taking over EA sports was an excellent move imo. I think he means well and I think he aims to change the negative image EA has with this sort of thing.
Front page sports football pro > 2k5 2k5's franchise was a piece of poop. Only recievers, quarterbacks and defensive tackles were taken in the first round
I still think Madden is the King of football games by far but something needs to be done about online cheating and the number of glitches found every year.
I preferred 2k5 over Madden 2005 for awhile due to presentation but when I went back a couple years later to play 2k5, I wondered why I ever preferred it in the first place. I actually preferred Madden 2005 when I replayed them and even felt Madden had tighter gameplay (although 2k5 still had a fun arcade like feel). The best thing 2k5 did though was the $20 price point for a game that was not a $30 less inferior product to Madden, although I do think Madden was better that year and probably even prefer the Madden series over 2k (and I am a huge Sega fanboy).
I thought they broke passing with Madden 2005. I felt the game play was better on 2k5. However I did think that Madden 2004 was better than 2k4. I do wish that the NFL didn't decide to go exclusive to milk more money out of EA. I would have enjoyed 2k series if they continued.
Oh don't get me wrong I enjoyed the 2k series and even bought All-Pro Football 2k8 a couple years ago, and I also agree I would have loved to seen the 2k series continue because they really were putting out games that included everything about the NFL from presentation to gameplay. Were they still running I think their gameplay would be phenomenal but for now I give the nod the Madden, even if it is by default of sorts.
I had an old 989 football game. Abdul-Jabaar was the running back and he could juke his entire way downfield. However after about 5 jukes he would usually pull a hamstring and run down the field holding his leg
That game was fun. Gameday 98 I believe was the best of these series. It is because of this game that I hate Phil Simms. Why I didn't turn off the commentators I do not know. I do know that Dan Marino is one of the fastest people in the NFL, he should be in the fastest man competition and that any throw past 30 yards is a play that I do not know why it didn't go all the way, great throw, great catch, great play.
I've dabbled in other series but Madden stands out for me...though I've been very frustrated in recent years. '04 was the last one I bought (been busy since) but my bro has 05 through 09. I'm really excited about this release as I've been frustrated with 05 on. In 04 I could read D's and play accordingly (I don't play cheap) but 05 started to speed up..and up and up and up. Instead of increasing the AI to beat the deep pass they gave DB's ungodly closing speed and ninja Gaiden-esque verticals. Blocking went down hilll and it just got too bloody fast. I'm personally looking forward to a slwer more accurate sim version.....if they pull it of like they say.
Until EA Tiburon change that glitchy, unrealistic physics engine, I will not buy the game. The players still run like robots.
Just saw a clip of the "Extra Point" for franchise on ign.com and thought it was so stupid, and a waste of time, they just show the score and show the player of the week, half time show is stupid to and a waste.
The defenders in Madden are just plain dumb. If you dont stop something with the player youre controlling, then dont get your hopes ur of it being stopped. The CPU functions at the level of mental ******ation. But as long as the players look good while acting stupid, its ok.
