I don't remember "God" being involved in this one, either, but religion was definitely prevelant in the Andrea Yates case. She is the lady that drown her FIVE children in the bathtub in Houston. Scroll down to find the religious aspect of her reasoning for killing her children. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Andrea_Yates
Yep, that's the story I remember. Funny, I have read and re-read and still don't see the God reference. Guess I need to get some glasses
Yeah, I do remember that. She actually started with the insanity route I think...or the other way around. I think she is actually free now, and thatwould piss me off to no end if true
I don't think she would survive very long on the outside if people actually figured out who she is...
Called it. Another spectacular failure of our broken healthcare system; one of many which, unfortunately, don't come to light unless something like this happens.
Sorry Nabo, reread that first bold line again There is only so much our healthcare system can do, they can't go to her house and force her to take her meds. Unless of course you are suggesting that she should have been institutionalized, but that has nothing to do with her not having insurance or the healthcare system as a whole, that would be a doctor not noticing and addressing her mental illness in the correct way.
She was mentally ill; if a doctor had performed his due diligence, the baby would not have been in her care unless she complied with meds and therapy. If the child hadn't been in her care, could she have hacked it up?
