No, they sent him down a couple of weeks ago.

Reyes is not coming back, get rid of Berroa and give Ruben Tejada the SS job, see what he does and let Cora fill in at SS and 2nd.

Ya, I guess that initial report I read wasnt entirely accurate but it looked like he was finally making progress. Congrats to you for your daughters success

It will be very interesting to see Wags, Putz (back in around 3 weeks possibly) and K rod all in one bullpen.

Normally Id agree with the sentiment about Tejada but he is still only 18 or 19 years old and not as advanced as Fernando Martinez was. I think you risk some serious long term affects with a kid that young. Tejada needs some work with his bat before and to hit better then 250ish and to hit some off speed pitches. I could see calling him up in september when rosters expand and he could be used as a defensive replacement.

If you want to make an upgrade now, I think Josh Thole might be ready to supplant our current catchers. Hes mashing up the minors right now and we might do well to give him a good look in september.

I hate to say it, but whats the rush? They aren't trading him and they aren't contending, so i would rather him be 150% when he comes back. Last nights game was so embarassing, those first 2 innings. Every team comes in and treats citi field like a bandbox, it is definitely getting unwatchable...

Hate to be the bearer of bad news but reyes was sent back to ny for further testing and surgery is still possible bdh. I'd love to get him back but as someone interested in his long term future I can risk his fantasy stats year

At this point, the focus has to be on 2010. The Mets would need a miracle on par with the loaves and fishes to make the playoffs. There's no sense risking Reyes' long term health.

Ok this is just obscene. Castillo is finally playing well for the first time in God knows how long and gets hurt...as he slips down the steps and either rolled an ankle or hyper extended a knee. Cant do anything but laugh at this point :(

sigh like it couldn't get worse. Niese felt some soreness in his leg and collapsed after throwing his first warmup pitch. He is getting an MRI now and might need surgery, so looks like more Nelson Figs from here on out...

At least Wright isn't tied with reynolds anymore for hr's at Citi field.

The Mets just called and asked If I can still pitch and play the outfield.

This is getting ridiculous. The trainers should be canned now.

Also, man can that Pagan play when he is healthy. And Sullivan plays the field like Endy use to.

Niese has a torn hammy and had emergency surgery and sheff also re-tweaked his hammy....per metsblog

Also it looks like Parnell is going to be in the rotation next time through as the bodies keep hitting the floor. Parnell has worked hard on his secondary stuff and it showed with much better slider control the last week or two as he is starting to become consistent. This will also give him the opportunity to work on a third pitch, hopefully a change up as you really dont get to work on a third pitch being in the bullpen because there's rarely a use for it and you get so little chance to throw it. Anyway I hope he has some kind of third pitch because if not his time as a starter may be short lived and rough.

Mets traded for Anderson Hernandez today. With the injuries I guess they needed someone to play infield, anyone is better than Berroa.

Someone put in a claim on Alex Rios of the Jays. If JP Ricciardi has a brain, and I'm pretty sure he does, they'll let him go and be happy to do so. That's a lifeline for that team; might allow them to keep Halladay. Rumor is, according to Buster Olney, that it's the Mets or Giants. A Mets official denied that it was the Mets...but used the ever-credible Joel Sherman as their outlet. So, take that with a grain of salt. I hope like hell it wasn't the Mets; that's one of the 10 worst contracts in baseball right now.

I was driving home from work around 830ish and Richard Neer on WFAN said it was not the Mets or Boston. I heard a Giants official claim it was not them. Im betting its the Whitesox who need a CF bad.

It's not the Red Sox according to Sox officials. My guess is the White Sox or Tigers, they have money especially with Ordonez off the books next year (if his option doesn't vest) and they need some offense.

pelfrey is kind of frustrating but not nearly in the same league as ollie. Pelfrey is frustrating in an al leiter kind of way where he just doesn't give into the hitter. Perez is frustrating in an I want strangle you til you focus o the game kind of way.

I expect Ollie to be Ollie, Pelfrey I expect to be better. But he seems to be as fragile as Ollie mentally.

I'm not sure I've ever seen a more frustrating pitcher than Perez. The guy should be a mega-star, but he's too goofy to put it together for more than a few batters at a time, let alone a few games at a time.

I hope David Wright will be ok. I don't know if Cain was aiming for him or not but one of these days someone is going to get seriously hurt. Looks like Kuroda for the Dodgers took a batted ball off the head.

Not gonna lie the Kuroda one looked nasty. I really hope David is ok, he has has a tough season trying to carry the bulk of the team and he deserved better. At least Johan had his back but you are right, the pitchers have to calm down with these beans. Someone isdefinitely gonna get seriously hurt, intentionally or not..

That's a shame about Wright. I hope he's fine and gets back in the lineup. I wonder what the Mets did to piss off the baseball gods this year.

Hopefully the Mets brass don't do anything stupid like fly him across country like the did with Church. Thankfully the Mets are home for awhile. They should let him rest and for awhile. I wouldn't be against putting him on the 15 day DL and tell him to stay home for those 2 weeks just to be sure since concussions are pretty serious things and the Mets aren't going anywhere this season I'd rather them be careful with their franchise player.

Kinsler is fine. He stayed in the game but it was scary seeing him get hit. They should send tapes of Wright and Kinsler getting hit to some of the head hunters in the league.

LOL and the hits just keep coming: Alex Cora done for the year, surgery on both thumbs. Oliver Perez tweaked his knee covering first aggravating the same knee that caused him to miss 2 months. Not sure if Perez being out is a good thing this time considering the staff is already mediocre at best.

Everyone should be participating in this: http://www.3rdbasecoachoflife.com/?o...45502-55414418

Its Razor Shines giving the answers to all your baseball questions. I asked him why hes the worst 3rd base coach in baseball and he responds with "go go go go". I asked him why he was mentally slow and he ejected me to the showers. Its really quite hilarious.

WFAN was reporting this also, and looks like Santana is out for the next start:

The Phillies want your best game next season so get well. Looks like Wagner pitched late in today's game and was pretty effective. There were some people fighting on the Phillies' board over whether to bring Wagner back to the Phils and sit Lidge. :wink2: Should be an interestling last six weeks.

Wagner can only be dealt to boston since they claimed him off waivers. That has to be done by tonight since wags was claimed saturday. I thought philly should have claimed him given lidges performance this year

Reports this morning say no surgery for santana, francoeur still day to day.

Wagner goes to boston for two PTBNL and Boston will not pick up 2010 option on Wagner's 8.5M. Boston still had option to offer arbitration but that would be at a minimum of 8M since they can only be at 20% less then this years salary so we probably arent losing much out of this.
