I don't consider myself one since I played the 3 major sports since I was 12 and even played College baseball (albeit Div III) but I do find Science and Technology interesting. Even have a B.S. from College and I watch Discovery Science too. I guess I turned into one without realizing it. Oh well...
If you enjoy something, what difference does it make? What's important is not what others think of you, but how you value yourself. If you lower yourself in your esteem you will spend your life trying to appease others. Give yourself a break.
I'm a nerd, but a big tough one and jocks tremble in fear of my wrath... Mikey.. yer pitcher is gone...
Absolutely! But the very fact that we are members of a Football message board/website says that is not all we are. Most of us, I would venture to say, are members of that rare, oxymoronic fraternity known as 'smart jocks'. Or, in my and cnc's case, 'buff nerds', as I think we were both nerds before we became lean, mean fightin' machines... Truthfully, everyone is/has a little of everything- most people just never develop the other aspects of their life to become a well-rounded human being.
I agree with the "smart Jocks" comment being rare and oxymoronic. I played College baseball as well and I remember getting ragged on big time for being a biology major and catching it from my coach when I would have to leave practice for a 3 hr chemistry lab, or god forbid read chapters on road trips. They didn't really like the idea of being a student athelete and not majoring in criminology or PE.
Im a Nerd but I was a 3 year letterman in football and baseball and got a few partial ride offers for football...Nerd is about 1/10 of what defines most people that have nerdy qualities imo and its has no where near the stigma it used to...nerds get a lot of respect now compared to years ago because nerds generally are going to have a lot more earning power than your typical "jock".
Oh yeah that lucky guy <---- huge ****ing nerd. But I enjoy reading, I love computers, video games, math, physics, and as long as thats what makes me happy I will continue to do so. I give a rats *** if some dude wants to hate on me for that. Oh I also like really geeky shows like star trek, sg1 and law and order lol.
Yeah don't ask me why. The fact that I enjoy it I think puts me one level above nerd, to urkel status........
That reminds me of the cheer I've been told that they chant at Vanderbilt: "That's all right, that's okay, you're gonna work for us someday!"
