Those were two of the most unbelieavable wins we've had all year. What a series. Maybe KK heard all the **** talking I did and picked his game up.

What was a pitcher's duel through eight turned into a butt whoopin in the top of the ninth. I just wish the Nats weren't so hot right now because they give us enough trouble as it is. Just four and a half back now in the East. So much for ten games back by the end of the week.

Our pitching staff is the best in the NL. We always have a chance to win because of them. If the offense can stay consistent, this IS a playoff caliber team.

i was in Northern Virginia last week, and got to catch the Nationals beat the D-Backs 7-6, and follow them in the Wash Post for the week during their winning streak.

they have a pretty potent middle of the lineup. Ryan Zimmerman, Adam Dunn, Elijah Dukes, and Josh Willingham were a potent 3-6, and Nyjer Morgan was flying around the bases. Christian Guzman has been hitting pretty well over the last three weeks too. that team could be decent with some pitching. i think if they pay Strasburg what he wants, though, they might not be able to sign anybody else to help the rotation.

hope the Braves bare down and get the job done, now that they have closed the gap with the Phillies.

They have to. They have mostly struggled against the Nats and that really has to end now. With the next series being against the Phillies they could really cover some ground by the weekend.

I like the fact we have Hanson and Lowe going though. Tommy handled them pretty easily his first time out.

The Gnats are a horrible Road team, and we hit Lefty pitching well (Lannan) so I like our chances tonight.

FYI: Looks like Chipper and McLouth will be in the lineup.

It's just the law of averages. I think the Phillies played the Braves 18 times last year and the Phillies won 14 games. You can't put much into regular season games.....for one thing your pitching lineups aren't set. Remember last year everyone was talking about how great the Cubs were during the regular season....how did that turn out for the Cubbies? They got killed by the Dodgers. I'll tell you what, If your Braves beat my Phillies in the playoffs, I will change my avatar to that whacky Braves logo and buy a Braves cap at my local sporting goods store, and wear it in shame until the Braves are out of the playoffs. :wink2:

Well, no surprise last night. Hanson was money, and I guess Chipper knew what he was talking about when convincing Bobby to put him in the lineup. Good to see Infante back as well. Also, I think that Church for Francoeur deal is working out ok for us.

geez, would be nice if the Cubs even put up a struggle against the Phillies.

the fat guy in the unbuttoned Cubs jersey who threw the beer (and cup) on Shane Victorino last night provided more offense than anyone in the Cubs dugout the last two days.

utterly classless move on his part by the way. they should've let Victorino whip his arse.

I think Victorino pressed charges against the guy. It's a shame an idiot has to do this at a game. I know Philly fans have had their share of bad moments over the years as well. Bring on the Braves!!!!

According to Deadpsin, it wasn't the fat guy who threw the beer (although he was blamed for it).

Turns out, it was a guy sitting 3 seats to his right. Poor guy.

I'm still pissed about the game last night. The logical thing to do in the ninth seems to be to leave gonzales in just to get Howard out and then bring in Soriano. Maybe I'm missing something here but the whole world knows HOward is terrible against lefties. Soriano has officially lost it, I think it's safe to say that. He can't make it through an entire inning without getting touched up.

I hope whatever dark force was causing Atlanta's line drives to hang around in the park for Victorino to catch last night disappears today. With Hamels up they should score more than two runs.

I think the Phillies going 1-12 with runners in scoring position lost the Phillies the game more then Lidge. The Phillies always are swinging for home runs when they just need to put the ball in play. Hopefully this will be the last time Charlie Manuel goes with Lidge to close. He just doesn't have it this year. Ohhh well, tomorrow is the rubber match.

It's not entirely the Phillies fault. Atlanta has the best pitching staff in the NL. When Ryan Howard doesn't hit his first HR against you until your tenth game against each other that's saying a lot. I don't think that would even have happened if Bobby would have just left Gonzales on the mound a little longer but what's done is done. The game was blacked out here but I guess I can safely assume Hamels actually pitched competently which was certainly a break for Philly. They've hit him hard a couple of times already this season. I'm excited for the rubber game tonight. I like our chances with Vasquez on the mound. This is looking to be a very interesting August and September, three teams that are all playing well and all have a chance.

Well I was tied in runs, hits, rbis, and ks somehow in fantasy baseball going into tonights game, with mccann and howard left against utley and ibanez on the other team. So far I am enjoying this game but it would be nicer if the braves pull out a come from behind to beat those phils that i dislike oh so much. So good luck for the rest of the game...

They needed more right handed hitting in the lineup with Happ pitching. And they needed Chipper to be 100% which he clearly wasn't yesterday. His swings looked a bit awkward. A crappy time to get hit with the injury bug but it's happening. They also have to make a pitcher pay for walking six guys. They have got to find a 30+ home run hitter for next season somehow b/c watching the game last night clearly showed you what one can do for you in a low scoring pitcher's duel. Happ probably made as many mistakes as Vazques, the difference is we don't have a guy who hits with the power of a Ryan Howard. They are not buried in the division like they could have been but time is getting short. Averages dictate that Philly was bound to eventually win a series but they can't let it happen again if they want to have a shot.

Ryan Howard always kills us. That's really the main difference between the Braves and Phils IMO, they have more power and can win a game by beating you with HR's. I knew we weren't going to sweep them, but we needed that first game against Blanton bad.

We can still make a run, but these injuries are killing us. Not sure if we can do it without a healthy Chipper or McLouth for the rest of the way.

Surprisingly enough Howard had not hit a homer against us in the first three series. He had mostly been ineffective, not to the extent that we had shut down Rollins and Victorino, but he hadn't had a huge impact. He obviously made up for lost time in this series.

McCann needs to be given a couple of days off if it will get him out of the slump he's kind of in right now. Chipper needs to sit until he's closer to 100%. He's not doing a lot of good the way he was swinging last night.

You could see Chipper is really hurting when he swings the bat. Looks like the oblique area......when your sides are hurting like that it is very hard to take good swings. Ryan Howard looks like he is starting to warm up like he usually does this year. Ibanez has not looked very good as of late and I don't think he has fully recovered from his groin injury. The key is pitching and Philly has been a little inconsistent. I just want to see someone other then Lidge closing games. Good luck Braves' fans. Well we finally have Phin's football tonight.

For the first three series this season they had bucked the trend. They had not given up even a single homer to the big guy. But things are back to usual now. The key will be keeping the guys in front of him off base obviously. He's not going to kill us with solo shots but the three run shots will.

Derek Lowe just gave up 8 runs in one inning. The worst part is that Bobby left him in long enough to do that. Something was obviously not right even before the ball nailed him in his hand, yet he's left in even after that. 4-0 turns to 4-8 in the blink of an eye against the Mets AAA club. ****ing pathetic. He couldn't even get the pitcher out. They should have been cruising to victory in this one.

With Santana up tomorrow the Braves are probably going to drop this series. That inning was so bad it could kill the rest of the season. I'm not even kidding. It's the worst inning of pitching in recent memory. And it was allowed to run on as long as the Energizer bunny. He was throwing batting practice out there. Anybody here want a major league hit? You just missed your chance. My ranting for tonight is done I think.

He let him get abused for what seemed like forever. I cannot understand why he wasn't pulled when it was 4-3 or 4-4 and obvious Lowe couldn't get an out.

That's the head scratcher, he left in Lowe to get hammered AFTER he had already taken a line drive off his hand. After the game had been tied, Bobby should've brought Medlen in. We have to treat every game like it's a playoff game at this point. No excuse for that, especially with a well-rested bullpen.

Matt Diaz is on fire homering in 3 of his last 4 games. That guy his oppo power like no else. Nice to see the Braves come back with a 8 run inning of their own after the debacle on Tuesday night.

Santana is gonna be tough tonight, especially with KK on the bump. Hopefully he can hold the Mets in check and we get steal a series.

Wow, that's bizarre. Maybe it was Chipper's batting mojo, he sure could use that back.

In other news, did anybody see that ridiculously good catch Infante made last night? It was like he had springs in his shoes. I thought for sure that was going to be a hit.
