Ronnie has had injuries to his leg & knee, bad news to any RB @ any age
Ricky has never had leg or knee injuries throughout his entire carreer
Ronnie is younger but slower & not as quick to hit the hole as Ricky
Williams' legs have been relatively rested over the course of several seasons,
due to his particular circumstance Williams may be no older in football years than Brown

I know the TriFecta is quietly very big on Williams & Brown is being put off on the most important contract of his carreer

it is what it is. just have to wait & see. Like I said however it works out we have the top Tandem in the NFL

Ricky is my all time favorite, but I really like Brown a lot too.
    however
I am first & foremost a DolFan: may the Tandem from Hell run well over 2000 yards this year :yes:that ultimately is what is important.

thought it was his shoulder, @ any rate, it's an old injury & healed, besides, you don't run on your hands anyway & he's not a WR, he's a RB. most halfback passes are short & out of the backfield & you cover the ball w/ both hands win you get hit. don't recall Williams ever having fumbling issues.

the RealDeal, the Beast of the SecondHalf, the FranchiseBack, the RocketMan, the guy who carried our Franchise on his shoulders for years w/o the assistance of a reasonable offensive line or passing game: Ricky Williams, the man that brought us to our feet in unison screaming: Run Ricky Run!may you bring it home again

RW had a ton of carries in both college and in the pros. That pounding would more than off set a couple of years of rest. In fact, just looking at his pro carries I doubt there 5 active backs who are younger and have more carries than RW. And that doesn't include the 1000+ attempts he had in college.

I believe that the team was the one that approached Brown about an extension. So I wouldn't characterize it as them putting him off.

And the leg injuries could be a factor but probably less than they used to be.

I really think that by far the biggest factor affecting running backs is age.

Or posting when you think you know everything? That just about every running back gets caught from behind just as much, but some of you have selective eyes.
It's always a Ricky vs Ronnie thing, and you have 3 grps of people. You have the grp who loves Ricky and thinks he does no wrong. You have the grp who loves Ronnie and thinks he does no wrong. Then you have the grp who loves them both.

And yes, Ricky does get caught from behind. Nobody is immune to it.

The funny thing is that they are very good friends. I bet if you asked either they would say "He's a great player and I've learned a lot from him"

That's just it. He is never going to be the Ricky that he was in 2002. Heck, he wasn't that Ricky the very next year. He is 32 years old and will only continue to decline. We should be happy with him as a backup but he is not a starter anymore.

Or any of the years before. Because he had that one season (and because of his draft spot and what it took to get him) people think he can do it again.

    over there
    Ricky will be fine.
Doesn't anyone here remember that Ricky always does very little in pre-season?
On his run to the right he had good blocking in front of him.Bess I believe turned that play into a bigger gain.Ricky only looked fast on that play because he had a running start getting the ball handed off to him..
In all seriousness,he historically has slow starts in pre-season.

But that was when he was a starter. He's a back up now. I wouldn't be surprised to see him end up with the most carries in the pre-season as they save RB for the games that count.

That being said I agree that RW will be fine.

Ricky looked really good to me. I remember thinking...this guy's worth a lot more money than we're paying him! i can't even remember anything from ronnie brown in that game. did he even play? i can remember 2 or 3 good plays from ricky.

Brown had 4 carries, 1 was impressive where he juked the defender to avoid being caught behind the line. The other 3 were nothing carries.

RW had 10 total carries; 3 good carries, 7 nothing carries, 1 dropped pass and 1 holding penalty. So basically 3 good plays and two bad plays.

I wouldn't necessarily blame the nothing carries on the backs. I thought the interior line run blocking was particularly poor.

we have possibly the best Tandem & Running Stable in the NFL
    I've hit the wall w/ this thread:deadhorse:
the real interest will be in the development of the Orca-5
they have to open the holes for the RB's to get through them
