i totally disagree. its obvious that sean has the edge but vontae is raw right now. we are talking about 1 game here, a pre season game. everyone is entitled to 1 off game. it looks really bad that vontae had that game in the first game we got to see. if vontae has back to back bad games than i'll be alarmed. plus vontae is a little thin between the ears, judging by the way he talks in the interviews i've heard. he sounds like a moron. he probably made it through school b/c of his football talent. i guess what i'm saying is that it might take vontae longer to learn the game than sean. But that doesn't mean that vontae is less talented. specially if all we have to judge by is 1 pre season game. i think we need to see both of them at the same time against the same exact offense.
IIRC weren't there some half way decent FA CB's being signed in the off season. Forget who exactly, but I remember it was a subject widely discussed on these boards. Admittedly, no one wanted to see the FO over pay for anyone, but it just seemed like they were somewhat delinquent on addressing the position in free agency. Hence, it was almost is if the settled for Green. All that said, he was supposed to be the front runner to start opposite Will Allen before TC...no? Now, you're putting a lot of pressure on two rooks, an underachieving 1st round pick (Allen) that I have seen toasted more times than I can remember, and some guy I really don't know too much about (Jones). If Will Allen goes down, this becomes a very dicey situation IMO.
Good. If Wanny was still here, the guy wouldve been a lock to start. We dont need anymore Reggie Howard's on this team, ever again.
Actually, Davis has 4 years of experience playing CB. Smith is WR convert whose played there 2 years. That was one of the reasons that Davis went before Smith, he was supposed to be more ready. That hasn't been the case at all. In fact there were reports out of camp that Davis wasn't even in the running to start opposite Allen. The presumption was that it was between Smith and Green. While that competition appears to be over, I don't see any reason to believe that Davis has jumped back in.
They were trying to replicate the success they had with Goodman. He was a similarly thought of guy to Green who really blossomed under Bowles. Clearly, that didn't happen this time.
Glad we get to keep J. Allen one more year. Maybe this is the year he shows why he was drafted so high. If not, see ya.
I think it makes sense. I could be wrong on this, but didn't they have a season ending injury to one of their starters at CB?
I think you are talking about Walt Harris. I'm not sure. They signed Dre Bly though, so I still don't understand the Eric Green signing.
Despite what's been written about addinhg another corner, I know the Phins are working out an OL today, so he might be signed.
that is an interesting thought: to keep Chris they'd have to bump an establihed special team piece: London, Jason or Nate. opens the field a little bit anyway
You can't take much of either from this past game because they were working against the bottom of the depth chart and if they don't look good then they should be cut just like Green was.
Great minds think alike Doc! I had the same crazy notion cross my mind. Well, crazier things have happened. Sean Smith converted from WR to CB...right?

Daggone...when I read 6'10" 330lbs, I envisioned a big fat dude. He looks pretty cut. If he has some skills, I say sign him!
No big surprise after what we heard about Green in TC and what I saw in the Jags game. Also meant to light a fire under the remaining CB's as well as get them more reps. I really don't expect them to bring in an older Vet CB, they want to go youth, we already have Will Allen for veteran leadership back there.
Throw some meat at the guy and get him on the OL! If he can play defense, and is strong, imagine the pass blocking he could do at the LOS.
