Gallas was fine, he was running across the goal level with the last defender.

Fully expected that result tonight for the Gunners. Celtic are very average and Aresnal were always going to b the much stronger side

I think you may be right. Must have been a quick reaction by me that wasn't fully assessed.

    Agreed.

Btw, I really liked Alexandre Song's game today. I thought he played outstanding for the second time in four days. Song's performances really make me wonder about purchasing a new player at the holding mid spot. I know Arsene's been looking for a player there this transfer window but I'm not sure we need one. Song's doing well in my opinion. Thoughts?

I think that players such as Song, Vermalen and Denilson were greatly over-looked by the media, which is the reason why Arsenals decline has been greatly over-hyped. So far this season Song and Denilson look alot more assured and mature than they did last season. As the season goes on, Arsenal I feel are going to have to rely on other young guys like Wilshere and Ramsey, if they pick up injuries.

That will be the key I feel to Arsenals season. If Arsenals more experienced players start going down, they will have to rely on these young guys. Now I dont doubt their ability, but going to places like Blackburn, Stoke and Bolton in the winter will be a huge character test for them. Because Aresnal dont have a deep squad full of experienced players like other top clubs, those young guys will have a significant role to play for Aresnal.

Also, you guys should have really made a play to try sign Bassong :wink2:

I've read twice now that Arsenal is pushing to sign midfielder Rafael Van der Vaart. That would be a quality signing in my opinion, as long as we don't shell out a ton of money for him.

Also, Balazs Dzsudzsak of PSV, is being sought after by Arsenal. I've never seen this guy play to be honest but the times he's reached the back of the net as a winger is very impressive.

Arsenal's up 2-1 on Pompey. Almunia got ran over in the process of catching a jump ball and the goal was given to Kaboul. Really, we should be up 4-1 right now. The possession factor had to be incredibly high on our end.

Funny to see Man Utd tied up with Wigan. I hope they lose.

Great flop by Eduardo to get the penalty in his favor. Eboue and Song are playing really well in my opnion. Gallas is in a class of his own right now. He's just outstanding. On the other hand, Nicklas Bendtner is tough to watch. Seems to lack the drive and he needs work on his ball control.

How sad is it to see a player of that quality need to cheat like Eduardo did on against Celtic. Worst thing is, we get the same **** from Wenger, refusing to slam his own players for acting in-appropritely.

Yet, I bet during the season he will the one giving out about diving when Arsenal lose points over someone doing it. Look at last season, he complained about Ryan Babel and Didier Drogba doing the same thing that Eduardo did on Wednesday.

Now I know that Wenger is not the only culprit of this. All managers are pretty quick to complain when they feel they have been dealt an injustice over a player diving, yet turn the other cheek when one of their players do it. Diving will on get worse until managers begin to slam their own players for.

Why would he slam his own player? That doesn't make much sense to me. Yes, it is hypocritical to slam the opposition but it still doesn't make sense to slam his own.

He does'nt have to slam him, but he does'nt have to completely deny that Eduardo did any wrong doing, when he clealy took a dive to win a penalty and moan about how his antics will receive him a ban for his cheating.

I really do applaud UEFA for taking action against Eduardo. I think its about time that football took an example from Rugby, where a siting commission can penalise a player even if the ref does not.

What Wenger said was that he talked to Eduardo, who took part in the play, and he said that Eduardo told him that there was slight contact and then he went off from that conversation. He said that it wasn't obvious that it should be a penalty but he was told there was slight contact so Eduardo did take the tumble.

World Cup qualifiers next week for South America.

Uruguay plays Peru on the road and Colombia at home. If we dont get the 6 points, Im going to freak out.

And my club Penarol plays their second game of the season tomorrow. We won last Sunday 2-0 against a pretty good team, and this week(Wanderers), we play a pretty good team as well, Cerro. Too bad that Ruben Olivera, who transferred this monday, cant play because the transfer papers still havent gotten here from Italy.

    Only in Uruguay!

A very disappointing outcome today on Arsenal's side but they played a very good game. They controlled the ball, played at their own pace and honestly were in charge of this game for about eighty of the ninety minutes in my opinion. The problem that arose was that we simply could not finish in front of the net and its frustrating. I'm not one to react ridiculously after a loss because of emotions but I think if you're in Wenger's shoes, you have to consider having Eduardo in the starting eleven instead of Robin Van Persie. I know Van Persie is creative with the ball but it seems like he blows so many chances, whether its him running early for the offside or him just missing the goal. Eduardo is a clinical striker and by far our best finisher in my honest opinion.

There were three things that stood out to me that need to be worked on. One is obviously the mental lapses. I don't really know what Diaby was doing when he scored the own goal but I must admit, he looked mighty impressive the rest of the game. He's so strong in the upper body and he can fight off the opposition. He also has creativity and displays a good touch. If he doesn't allow that own goal, we're probably talking about him being a Patrick Vieira clone. I most certainly know that the announcers were. The second issue that stood out to me was the defending of the through ball. I don't know if Arsene was trying to get his defenders to play offside traps on Rooney all day but there were a few passes in which we were beaten on, including the one that led to the penalty. Last, I like Alumnia at keeper but I've always found him to have a tough time making decisions in the heat of the moment. Its like he doesn't know what to do at times and he makes a wild decision that backfires on him. Or he doesn't do anything at all and he pays for it. Better yet, we pay for it and we lose, as we did today. I'm not saying to replace him because I think he's solid but I think he has to make better decisions.

Also, I still maintain my stance on Nicklas Bendtner. He does nothing for me. Every time he's out on the pitch, his touch is too strong or he's losing the ball. I don't know what Wenger sees in him other than his stature and physicality but other then that, he's useless.

Kudos to the young guys stepping up today, by the way. Denilson had a mental lapse on one play that nearly made us give up a goal but other then that, he was good today. Alexandre Song was overly aggressive today and he paid for it with a yellow but he played very well. Diaby played well, as did Arshavin and Gallas. Vermaelen was good as well in my opinion. He cleared quite a few balls and quietly had a good game.

They lost their compusure. They played well for the first 20 mins.

I don't like the way Gattuso acted. First pulling himself off with no warning, not allowing Leonardo to warm anyone up, and then taking that BS second yellow. Furthermore, he was yelling at someone coming off the pitch, I'm guessing Leonardo for not subbing him when he wanted.

So Milan didn't spend $60M on players like everyone else, DEAL WITH IT! Gattuso is pissed for that reason, and it is clearly evident. Milan ownership really screwed up this offseason, but the players have to forget about that, and realize they have enough talent to be competitive.

Nesta is looking great btw. Too bad he was injured half his career.

    Ahhhhhhh

Unfortunately that is the only result that matters in any sport

You need to bury your chances in soccer, football, hockey etc....

What about Spurs...what a start they are having

    Thanks.

Today is the final day of transfer season and Arsenal has exactly one signing - Vermaelen. A bit interesting, to say the least, in my opinion. We're going to have Eboue and Song out for 4 to 6 weeks I believe due to the African Cup so that leaves at least one big hole, which will have to be filled in by an inconsistent Denilson. That worries me and I have to wonder why we haven't brought in a player since the signing of Vermaelen. I figured by now that Wenger would have looked at his squad and said to himself " we need a holding mid with Song's absence in a few weeks" but that doesn't appear to be the case. Here's to a late night signing of PSG's deep-lying mid, Blaise Matuidi in the region of 7M.

Also, Claudio Raineri is set to coach AS Roma.

EDIT: I saw Eduardo got a two game ban. What a load of ****.

That will really hurt Chelsea, but I have a feeling that it wont happen. Think that they may be suspended from the window in January but, not the one at the end of the season, as that type of punishment is extremely harsh for tapping. I know that FIFA are stating that it was more than just tapping, but still cant see it sticking.

    Hope it does though.

Bendtner doesn't like the wing apparently and wants to be moved to the striker role. He's not great but if he wants to play more up the middle, why doesn't he do what Marc Overmars did? He's placed on the wing but he can cut inside and shoot often.
