http://blogs.trb.com/sports/custom/b...steve_ros.html Is he talking about the stadium changing, or just sideline fans?...Iam trying to keep calm here.. The question we've always wanted to ask, was asked, and i dont think he got it... I should'nt get excited right?....i hope the link works
Dj, the link isn't working for me. Edit: Is this the link, DJ? http://blogs.trb.com/sports/custom/business/blog/
Q. Do you have plans to change the team colors and uniforms? A. Ross: We haven’t even looked at that. I haven’t thought of it. Dee: Not this year and we just missed the deadline for 2010, so not next year either. answers any threads about new jersey rumors for at least two more seasona
If the questions were asked in this following succession, I think he meant that the sideline seats, overhead covering, and standing room were all under consideration as improvements. The way he began the final answer with "We’re studying all that" tells me that they were aware of concerns and "studying all that" was his way of saying the aforementioned questions were under consideration. Personally I do not think you will see any major renovation to the sideline until the Marlins are gone.
There is no way to provide good visability seats closer to the feild. The people behind you have to be able to see over you and that cannot happen given the configuration that Joe Robbie chose for the stadium. Ross might stuff more people into the sideline area, but unless they are allowed to wander some the inability to SEE the game will offset, imo, the sideline experience. Having said all that, I would love to get on the sidelines at least once, the jumbo screens are pretty dang good.
During the last (or first) preseason game, the in-booth guest mentioned that the "25-years old" stadium needed improvements to be competitive. The way he said it, I interpreted that is structural, as he'd also referenced the previous stuff that Huizenga did. It made it clear Ross isn't sitting back on this. I know Wayne looked at moving the seats previously, and the cost was astronomical. Basically they told him he'd be better off building a new stadium. So Wayne weighed $750 million for a new stadium vs. $250 million to renovate (what they did the last few years). With it all coming out of his pocket, he chose the latter. Even if we somehow get the seats closer, we're still going to be in a 'V' shape as opposed to the 'build tall and vertical' like the newer stadiums. So the sound will still escape. Unless of course they build some kind of awning over top like they seemed to allude to. THAT would be something I'd like to have. Protects fans from the elements (and high heat), and keeps that sound in.
Did this really piss anyone else off? So we have to put up with all these washed up has beens and tennis players being part owners of our team but Ross wouldn't even consider selling a piece of the team to ex Dolphin greats? "Come on Venus, here's a piece of the team. **** off Dan Marino." I miss Wayne.
This is a little off topic, but I want to ask Ross if he would consider hiring a drum corps. IMO, that would really crank up the atmosphere! Steve
It seems for 200$ (or 150 for season ticket holders) extra you can be right at the sideline... http://www.miamidolphins.com/sidelineclub/
I've been saying this for years and I agree. I think it would be fantastic! There is a small drum corps I've see before games. But I don't know when/where the play. Write the team about it. I have. http://www.miamidolphins.com/feedback-form.asp
Jax does it at their games, and it really doesn't have that big of an effect. usually the sound system they have for them is pretty bad and it sounds like crap. if they do it they need to have a good sound system set up for it.
...and Jax also has to tarp off the corners of the upper deck and some other section just to avoid blackouts. Nothing like a POS stadium, with 70,000 + seats in a market that can't support it.
