Nice writeup. I was questioning the whole premise of the show throughout the first at least four episodes. But Eliza and Joss delivered on their promise that the sixth episode is where things would pick up. Ever since then its gotten steadily better. At this point I would be pretty disappointed if it doesn't get a second season. Tudyk and Amy Acker are just incredible. I hope they find a way for those two to stick around.

I think I was slightly underwhelmed because I'm just not sure if this will be the last episode. It was good and surprising in some instances. But I guess they can't operate thinking it will be the last episode. They can't just reveal everything and tie up all loose ends. So in that sense it gave enough and kept the door open for more. Overall as a series its grown on me. I'll definitely keep watching if it gets renewed.

And apparently, the upcoming release of Season 1 on DVD will contain not only this one, but another unaired episode as well.

    :knucks:

And there's this, from the same site...old news, but a new tidbit (to me) in bold:

I didn't realize we only had a month until season 2 started. I'm going to get season 1 on dvd soon. It should be interesting to see the unaired episodes and in some kind of coherent order. At least this time when Fox screwed with the show they didn't can it after half a season. Hopefully Joss comes through like he has with his other shows and I can mention Dollhouse in the same breath as Buffy, Angel, and Firefly.

BTW, does anyone besides Devil even give a **** about these updates? Because I could just as well simply PM him than post them.

I obviously love Summer. And Alexis should be a nice addition. I really liked him on Angel.

He was awesome on "Reaper" as the devil. The second season seems to be shaping up pretty well, at least from a talent standpoint. The season premier is next Friday.

I watched Serenity on BluRay last weekend and Summer was so beautiful it was ridiculous. I love that kind of dirty, out in space look combined with the sun dresses. Plus she kicks the **** out of people.

    I'm dying to get a blu-ray player.

If my TV is only a 1080i, not 1080p, will I still get any benefit from the higher definition of blu-ray?

 She is kind of stealth-hot.

I have to say: if Jamie Bamber isn't the worst actor EVER, he has to be close.

Watching him try to depict actual human emotions is painful.

I enjoyed the episode. I agree with Nabo. Jamie Bamber is in Keanu Reeves' territory.

I'm having trouble deciding which one is hotter here lately. Echo or Whiskey?

Well, Dushku has that curvy, tight little frame, while Amy has the long legs and great hips...both brunettes, both very pretty.

    Tough call.

To be honest, though, Joss kind of dug its grave himself when he let the writing go for those few episodes last season. When you're only making 13 damn episodes per season, you'd better damn well make them ALL at least GOOD.

He lost a lot of casual viewers during that time.

Great premise, fine actors - poor execution by Whedon. This one's on him.

On a side note, I just last night watched the most recent episode and had a geekgasm when I realized it was a Joss Whedon ep directed by Jonathan Frakes (the erstwhile Commander Riker from ST:TNG). He really has established himself as a solid sci-fi TV director.

I agree about the last few episodes, especially the one with Sierra's origin. Hopefully it finishes out strong.

I also agree with Nabo about some of the episodes in the first season. They weren't up to Whedon's quality and for some reason Joss isn't great at convincing the higher ups that things need to be done his way without interference.

I'm slightly disappointed even though this was probably my least favorite thing Joss has done. But even his worst is better and more watchable than a lot out there. Hopefully this doesn't make other networks afraid to work with him. And hopefully he does a great job directing an episode of Glee (which I don't watch).

There's always hope that the sci-fi channel could pick it up. Slim. Hope.

Since the remaining episodes are in the can and doubtless leave some sort of cliffhanger, maybe Whedon can get a movie made to wrap up the series.

Regardless; hopefully this has solidified the lesson for Whedon - work with dedicated networks or not at all.

Can you picture how much promotion Dollhouse would have gotten if it had been on Showtime or HBO from the start? Could it have failed like that?

I think the only thing that could have saved this show is for it to have been...........better.

From the very beginning I saw nothing to keep this show going other than it was a Whedon project that everyone just assumed would improve.

If "Life" could be canceled then this one had it coming as well....

Like I said, Whedon really messed up last year when he let the show meander without a solid story arc, other than the "hotness" factor of its stars.

Casual audiences - that is, not dedicated Whedonites -being as fickle as they are, you can't lose them with mediocrity even for just a few episodes. They tend never to come back.

Also - and this is something I touched on somewhere else - the core audience of a show like this actually works against it, moreso than in other genres.

Geeks and sci-fi nuts were watching this show a lot on the streaming services, where the numbers (and the ad revenue) were benefiting companies OTHER THAN FOX.

Even though those companies pay Fox nominal fees to show their programming, that doesn't do Fox any good in selling ad time during the show's time slot.
