District 9 is definitely next on my list  Went to see "Inglourious Basterds" today.
As was said earlier, the violence is spaced out quite a bit through the movie, but the dialogue keeps it very entertaining. The cinema burning down with all the Nazi brass inside was awesome.
I thought it was great. If you're a Tarantino fan you'll be thoroughly entertained.

Saw Watchmen again last night forgot how long it was

I thought the first time I saw it was amazing but I built it up and had high expectations the second time around and it never gave me the same satisfaction like it did when I first saw it.

Still like it better than the Dark Knight.

I really wouldn't compare it to Kill Bill or any other Tarrantino movie.

It really has more dialogue and less action than most of his films.

Well people who loved the Graphic Novel went in with high expectations. I never read it so my expectations were LOW.

I enjoyed it quite well loved the story and the characters.

I dont think so. He's known for his dialogue. Reservoir Dogs, Death Proof, Jackie Brown etc are hardly action packed.

I thought this felt like a Tarantino movie. Not sure which one I'd compare it to, but I felt like I knew I was watching one of his movies.

For me the last one was horrible and this one is worse. My favorite horror franchise died awhile ago, this one might be the final nail in the coffin, FU Rob Zombie.

Sure he's known for his dialogue.

I don't mean action as in shooting or slashing people with swords. I wouldn't say those movies are action packed in that sense, but people are doing things and not just sitting in various places talking.

Bastards spends a ton of time sitting around talking. Maybe I just found the conversations in this one less interesting than those in his other movies.

    H2.

Much like 'The Devil's Rejects' did to 'House of 1000 Corpses' this sequel went a different direction than the original. I'm glad Zombie didn't rehash the original Pt II, but he did pay tribute to it in the beginning of the Film. Like Zombie said, this was Laurie's story and it sure as hell was. There were surrealistic moments mixed in with the blood and gore, and it gave the movie a decidedly different feel than Part I. Overall I enjoyed it, there was plenty of great killing and some boobs as well, but when it ended I wasn't blown away like I was with Part I.

Watched another one of those 'sequels that bombed' that I never got around to watching last night. It was 'Escape from L.A.'. Holy **** was that a terrible movie. The first one in NY was awesome, but this was a clunker.

    saw inglorious basterds this weekend:
was pretty happy with it. I agree that there was a lot of 'talk' but that was okay, in fact I loved the tension in the movie. some of those scenes that did seem to drag on and on with you sitting there thinking "how is this about to go down" or "what's gonna give him away" were fun. you'd see something, and think oh he's got him, but then it'd go a different direction.
i liked that the movie kept you guessing. As with most tarentino movies I had a feeling that a lot of people would die, but i kept guessing wrong or in the wrong way.
i only really go to the theaters nowadays with free passes from giving blood, so I end up liking movies more because i'm not paying 10 bucks to see them.

Watched 'Office Space' (again) tonight too, on IFC. Probably the only movie that Jennifer Aniston's in that I like. One of those that didn't do very well at the theatre when it came out but is kind of a cult classic now. 'Damn it feels good to be a gangsta'

saw role models for the first time this weekend. I enjoyed it. i think my favorite line was when paul rudd and fogel (excuse me for not knowing their actual names haha) ask for the other two to remember to pick them up in 2 hours and the little kid screams "F$#( you, Miss Daisy!"

i nearly fell off the couch

G.I. Joe and I actually liked it a lot as opposed to most reviews. I'm a little biased because I played with the action figures growing up more than anything else, but I thought it was action packed and not as cheesy as expected. The characters fit the movie well. Blu-Ray purchase.

I still like the ending. It was a WTF?! ending for sure, but after I thought about it for a bit, it made sense. Not to mention it's based on a book that ends exactly the same way. (See Below)

The story wasn't about Josh Brolin's character. It was about Tommy Lee Jones' character being one step behind the killer and not equipped to handle the modern criminal. He was always one step behind, and even when he went to the hotel room (knowing the killer would return for the money) he doubted himself. My 2 cents.

    ok...but.....
    What I ponder is....
Psycho killer presumibly flips coin and leaves the Gas Jockey alive.
He may or may not have let the Accountant live?
He left Tommy Lee alive in the Hotel room.
He may or may not have left the wife alive?
He left the two kids on the bike alive.

....and a perfect ending would have been him being hit by car and dying. And simply leave Tommy Lee wondering about why he was always one step behind by never finding out as he retired and did the coffee table scene with his wife/gf?

...and what the F was his dream recap about???

The only answers I can give are:
There really are no answers. The great thing about the story is that it doesn't all make sense. It mirrors real-life in a way I haven't seen in a movie, ever.

As for the Killer, he was unpredictable, which is what made him so frightening IMO. Flip a coin, you live. Flip it again, you're dead. He's a psychopath, so analyzing his behavior is really futile.

And the Tommy Lee scene at the end goes back to what I was saying about him being the main character. He was old, tired and beaten from years on the job.

It actually makes him more like death. He kills indiscriminately, and instead you die out of chance. In other words you can not plan when or how you die, you die at random, because something happens, somewhere. Think about it if he has the chance to kill the person who is chasing him, he doesn't, but he might kill someone like a kid just for being there.

I think now and days alot of movies try to do the wtf thing just to shock, even in cases where its not necessary. I think ncfom does it effectively, as well as the wrestler. Movies like slumdog millionaire are smart enough to have a finite ending, as it fits, especially since slumdog millionaire is built close to a shakespearean romance. AT least IMO.
