I like it, personally I like the "Ricky Williams the Mystic" Rickey more than the ultra productive early 2000's headcase RW.

And that "losing a step" stuff is B$,

lame...he looks to be in amazing shape...he dropped a pass for a td in preseason, which wasn't the easiest of catches...got called for a holding but in the process kept pennington i think it was from getting clobbered

all I've seen out of him is hard running

I'm ecstatic he signed another year

The hell I say and I know I'll get pummeled on here for saying so but if a team would be willing to give us a king's ransom of draft picks in return for Ronnie I'd feel very comfortable in Ricky, Patrick, and Lex handling the load as a unit. Ricky is still carrying tacklers for 6 yards and there seems to be nothing that Cobbs can't do and can't do better than well. Lex aslo appears to be dangerous in open field.

I'm not sure how the Wildcat would fair though. Probably not well.

Ronnie and Ricky remind me very much of William Andrews and Gerald Riggs back in the day, and without the ACL ending Ronnie's career.

If Ronnie goes down, why wouldn't we be comfortable with Ricky W as the starter?

As for the WC, if Ronnie goes down Pat White will have to earn his paycheck.

I wouldn't even think it would take a king's ransom. A number 1 and a 5 would be sufficient for me. Ronnie is great and I love him.....just don't think Tuna and Co are gonna pay him what he wants come contract time.

and what exactly do you think he wants? The man deserves a top 10 contract and unless he's asking for top 3 kind of money, i think he should get it. Especially if he puts up another good season like last year.

Parcells doesn't pay for flashy players who talk more than they play, sure. But not paying guys who deserve the contract is entirely different.

Interesting... I think that all but seals the fate of Lex Hilliard making the roster this year. I just can't see us keeping 4 RB's on the final roster

Not really. With or without the contract, Ricky Williams was going to be on the 2009 roster.

I like it and i really do hope he retires a phin. I think with that extra year theres a chance he could become our all time leading rusher. However i hope that doesnt last two long because hopefully ronnie eventually will be.

Amazing how a guy who was so far lost and so far hated has worked his way back into our good graces by hard work and acting like a man...a responsible man at that. Who would have thought?

Good move. He's proved to be a great compliment to Ronnie Brown and can handle extra carries if he needs to. Losing a step? Possibly, but I don't think that's the case.

I believe Ricky is 32 if I am correct and that would seem to make it likely he will lose a step in the next year or two but so far I haven't seen it. I would even argue that so far in the preseason he has looked like the best back on the team especially since he has been getting reps against first team defenses. Plus even though Ricky is 32 he has a couple years off under his belt so he doesn't have the typical wear and tear of a starting 32 year old RB (not even considering that he has been splitting time the last couple years). So with all that said by the time he retires at 34 it makes sense as most RBs don't even make it that far.

I also love that Ricky is letting us all know that he will retire in two years because that shows a huge change in his responsibility from how he handled the 2004 retirement. Now instead of outrage and leaving the team hanging, his retirement will be greeted with gratefulness and the team has two years to prepare to get a back to be his replacement.

Ricky is doing all the right things this time around it will go along way in smoothing over relations with the fans that still remember him giving the Fins the shaft a few years back. Great move all around on this one.

So if they are willing to put out that kinda cash for Ricky, i bet Ronnie will see a fair contract also and still remain with us. They are both team players.

Ricky has earned his way back into our hearts and deserves whatever they give him. He does not look like he's lost a step to me, he looks as good as I've ever seen him.
