September’s birthstone is Sapphire….The meaning is Clear Thinking.
In the United States, '''Patriot Day''' occurs on September 11 of each year, designated in memory of the nearly three thousand who died in the September 11, 2001, attacks. Most Americans refer to the day as "Nine-Eleven (9/11)," "September 11th," or some variation thereof.

United States House of Representatives Joint Resolution 71 was approved by a vote of 407-0 on October 25, 2001. It requested that the President designate September 11 of each year as "Patriot Day." President George W. Bush signed the resolution into law on December 18, 2001 as Public Law 107-89. It is a discretionary day of remembrance.

Initially, the day was called the Prayer and Remembrance for the Victims Of the Terrorist Attacks on September 11, 2001.

On September 4, 2002, President Bush used his authority created by the resolution and proclaimed September 11, 2002, as Patriot Day.

On this day, the President directs that the American flag be flown at half-staff and displayed from individual American homes, at the White House, and on all U.S. government buildings and establishments, home and abroad. The President also asks Americans to observe a [[moment of silence]] beginning at 8:46 A.M. Eastern Daylight Time, the time of the first plane crash on September 11, 2001.
Clearly, many of our Politicians—today seem to have forgotten—lessons learned. The Fact is that all our young men and women of today’s armed service, who are or have been in Harms Way, their family and loved ones will not forget ---along with the multitudes associated with that day in New York City, the country side in Pennsylvania and the Pentagon in Washington D.C.. That day combined with POW/MIA Day (September 18th) should give each and everyone of us….Pause…..but these two dates along with May 25th and November 11th ….CLEARLY strengthens our…. RESOLVE.

Sorry that this is not about football.....but with out our freedoms and spirt there would not be football or this wonderful sight. maybe the mods will keep this here for a little while Today just because
    MAY GOD BLESS

Thank you brother. I fly the flag each and every day. And, I did not realize it was to be at half staff on 9/11. I won't make that mistake again.

BTW, two other significant dates that have unfortunately lost some significance over the last few decades...6/6/1944 (D-Day) and 12/7/41 (Pearl Harbor).

May God Bless America, especially all the brave men and women of our Armed Forces that put themselves in harms way so that we may all be free.

That's my favorite pic. It always brings tears to my eyes.
Knowing Ducken and my son being firefighters makes me so proud.
    God Bless all of them!

I was on duty 8 years ago today when our country was attacked. It was a tough few days after that when we lost 343 brothers but like our country always does we picked ourselves up and pressed on. We will never forget those who lost their lives that day and we should all thank those who continue to serve our country day in and day out. GOD BLESS AMERICA!!! (And if you don't like the fact that I said "God" you can shove it!!!)

I was in Uruguay. Was in 2nd grade. Went to a Hebrew School. Right before lunch time, I remember a couple kids going home. Something casual. At lunch, I see my mom go up to my sister I dont know why and then leave. A few more people left then. It was becoming sort of mysterious to me. After lunch, most of the other kids left, and after a while, my uncle picked me up from school since the Israeli Embassy asked for it to close.

I didnt know what the WTC was. But I will never forget that day.

    God Bless America!

Exactly 2 years before, a Formula 1 driver from Uruguay, "El Gonchi" had perished in a crash as well.

Let us be vigilant and never forget those who perished.
I will always have a haunting image in my mind of those firefighters climbing those stairs while others were escaping the towers. I am a retired Deputy Sheriff so I know what it is to go in harms way, but those firefighters, police officers and medical personnel performed above and way beyond their call of duty and should be especially rememberd every 9-11. They truly gave their lives for their fellow men and women.
