Today on local ESPN radio, Fins reporter Ken LaVicka said that he didn't expect much more from Pat White other than standing on the sidelines as the 3rd QB. Personally I'd be seriously disappointed if Sparano doesn't do just the opposite....surely he's lulling everyone to sleep with this whole working on developing White as a drop back passer thing. And while hidden in the confines of the bubble, he's got White learning to take over the wildcat and lining up in positions where we can get him the ball in space.......right? I'd like to see White get at least 5-10 touches Sunday and be out on the field for a decent number of plays. And yes, a heavy dose of wildcat.. This preseason we saw a lot of teams tinkering with the wildcat, looks like it's gonna stick around a while and find it's way into quite a few playbooks. We're still the focal point of it and there's a lot of ppl waiting to see if the Dolphins open up the package and commit to it even more. If we're gonna do more than eek out a .500 record this season against this brutal schedule, I think Sparano needs to take advantage of the fact that we're at the forefront of running the wildcat. We don't "tinker" with it, we score TD's. We win games with it. We saved our season with it. And we just used the #44 pick in the draft on a turbo kit so that we could open up the package.....I think wide open sounds like a great way to start the season. Don't you wanna see what Sparano's been hiding in the bubble? I can't wait....and it better be good
Can't say I agree. I think Pat White needs time to develop. I have no issues with him sitting this game out. Of course it would be fun for him to come in and give the other team all sorts of problems, but I think if he came in it would just show how unready he is at this point.
If Pat White isn't ready to come in, take a few snap from the shotgun and execute a few plays....then what have they been doing? Teaching him to play QB is the wrong answer...lol
I don't think we'll see him at all. If were only goign to have 2 active QB's on Sunday i'd rather see the backup be Henne. If Pennington goes down say in the first quarter, I definitely do not want Pat White back there the rest of the game, not at this point in time. He's not ready.
You are talking THIS Sunday? Against the Falcons? I doubt he'll get anywhere near the huddle unless he's bringing in water bottles. As fae as using whatever draft pick on him, I don't recall seeing Chad Henne in many plays and he was picked relatively close to the same. It might be different if he actually had've produced in the Pre-Season, which he didn't. I don't think we will see anything from Pat White till maybe 1/2 way through the season, and ill be very limited at that point.
double talk .. he was straight and narrow... "ask Sparano" morning brother! I hope you are getting your strength back and are able to love on the lil' ones again.
Thanks brother. Ended up with a rather nasty sinus infection. Finally on the mend, and I have 14 lbs to put back on. Gotta love our new coaching staff from top to bottom. Do you think Sparano understands how cool he actually is?
For those who have'nt seen it yet, sparano's interview yesterday was fantastic, he was asked the question if he was somewhat insecure or something about having to run the wildcat...His answers were freakin perfect.. He said our version of the wildcat is a simple power formation, no different or any less boring then a qb turning and handing the ball to the halfback...{yeah he used the word halfback lol} He was then asked if they will ever stop running it, he responded by saying, that if he was to do that, it would be like taking a lolipop away from a kid, his team loves running it.. That ownership of this formation IS SO important...other teams trying to run it, first of all most dont have the players and coaches who are skilled in the formation {besides felix jones and mcfadden, they have a chance}, but also have no purpose or conviction of what their doing....we do. As i have projected many times, the reason to be exciting about this staffs vision for the wildcat and the drafting of Pat white, is not to turn the wildcat into the Spread with Pat at the helm, its all about the enhancement of the wildcat from its original state. He talked about always staying one step ahead, and once the defense shows itself, they will adjust with the next move accordingly. Ronnie and Pat need each other, the formation itself needs both of them on the field, interchangable at the position, for the players and the formation to reach its potential.. Its a beautiful thing man, and right on track...
I'm expecting that there will be some wrinkles with Pat White this season but I'd be very surprised if they were unveiled this week. I think people are being a bit impatient demanding that he be used week 1.
I agree with that, especially considering that we are committed to this formation long term......its all about the counter of what a defense shows us...let them see if they can stop the original before you show them the counter....The counter of course being pat white on the field, and that doesnt necessarily mean at the wcqb position.
This formation could disappear by the end of season....there's no guarantee. I can't see saving it for a rainy day, not with this schedule ahead of us.
I would not be suprised to see Pat White this week cause if he has any success than other teams will be forced to spend extra time to prepare for him
Im expecting to see some of Pat White in the WC....theres not reason he cant take a few snaps if only just to hand the ball to the RB who comes across the field... I really think putting Pat White as WC will work to his advantage right now...mostly because he really has to rely just on athleticism...its not like he needs to recognize a ton of defenses...etc. I also think this game is very important...one its a common game amongst our AFC East rivals....second..we need it to build confidence and swagger. Every move we make now..is like a chess move...setting teams up three or four moves ahead of this move...
yeah, if the base offense scores every time they have the ball then so be it. but until that day, and until ronnie brown is no longer on this team, its part of who we are, and what were good at....aint goin nowhere..
Thats an interesting point...iam not sure how it compares to a suprise attack when it comes to strategy, but interesting....what a mind fu#@ this staff is playing with the NFL..
I want to see him in situations that make him comfortable and uncomfortable. I expect to see enough of him that I'll have a good idea of what I think because certainly the coaches will put him in enough to know what they think.
If that happens, and Henne is the 3rd QB, we would put him in anyways, and bench White the rest of the game. No biggie
Yes. To specify I want to see him in situations that make him comfortable early and uncomfortable as the season goes on. I stand by my second statement
You definitely can consider it if Henne is the "emergency QB" and comes in if Penny gets hurt, and then gets hurt himself. That would mean no other QB can come in until the 4th QTR, which means, yea Bess might have to take over. All 3 getting hurt is not at all the same as what I am talking about, and it definitely is potentially a big deal.
Hello Kenny. I didn't know you were down for the count. Hope you are getting back to normal. As for the 14 lbs. give me your digits and I'll UPS you 14 of mine. I have 30 I no longer need.
all i know is that whatever Pat White does, i'll be seeing it from Atlanta's stadium! I'm so pumped! I'm going to the game baby! i agree that we should use him in the wild cat a.s.a.p.
