F*** Yeah now you people try dealing with my wife tonight. She became a Bengals fan after watching Hard-Knocks with me this year and now I've got her pissed about the Fins and Bengals. God help me.
Peace out guys... Lets do it again Monday. Hopefully with a much better outcome/performance from our phins! I've got beer to drink, and a BBQ to light up!
Its a temporary thing... She became a Cheifs fan a few years back for a year too... Didnt like Dallas despite Zach Thomas though...she hates Jones. So I expect this Bengals fad to die by next year as well. So long as I am around it'll always be Fins 1st so no big deal.
The Ravens probably shouldve lost that game actually Well, we are tied with 1/2 the league after this folks!
We looked very ill prepared today. We were just flat outplayed in all aspects today. A lot of sweating and puking needs to go on in practice this week.
Because he could catch a pass 2 yards behind the LOS when he was running away from the 1st down marker.
I just don't see how you can give any of our receivers credit. The ONLY person(s) I give credit to is our rush defense and Ricky Williams on offense. It was a bad game, yes. I don't see us playing like this often, but I wouldn't give any of our receivers credit for anything... But I wouldn't place any blame on them for this loss... Going -4 in the turnover ratio, lack of pass protection/run game, and our suspect pass defense is the reason we lose.
I'm not giving the team credit. Where did I say that? I said, there are some positives. Davone Bess was one of them. No matter how bad our protection was, our offense was, Bess still had a solid game. You can't take that away from him. Btw, our Run O was pretty good. 4.4 YPC. Our Pass O killed us.
Our defense was STELLAR!!! Don't forget ATL is a very very potent Offense, and even with all the turnovers they only yeild 19 points? That's very damn good
Not at all, the defense played a very good game all things considered. They gave up 19 point and ATL's avg starting position was near mid-field. we get anyting out of the offense and it is an entirely different game. I thought we we going to lose this game 28ish to 13ish. I thought ATL's offense was going to have a better game against us.
The D played well but we need them to also create turnovers and defend the pass better. The took Turner and Norwood out of the game but we still got picked apart in the secondary.
Do not get this comment at all. How'd you determine this from today's game? We all saw Pennington shy away from Ginn open in one on one coverage with a safety plenty of times today because he's afraid to air it out. If anything we need a QB with an ounce of confidence in his own damn arm.
I don't like our offensive philosophy. How did we move the ball? Trick plays. I dont care if it's a "gimmick" if it works you keep going to it.
I think our WRs have problems getting open, besides Bess. But it is true Penny played ultra safe today, but do you blame him? We have inexperienced WRs and none of them close to being gamebreakers. Ginn isnt even a true WR really.
Rather than this being a Penny vs WR argument, I think the focus should be on the poor play of the OL that led to sacks and turnovers.
I was skeptical of our defense and felt safe with our offense coming into this game. After, I am very comfortable with our defense and very dissapointed in our offense.
How do we even know? Penny doesn't hardly throw it past 8 yards. Sometimes you have to trust your WR to make a/the play. You can't even see the field on TV, guys may be open. Guys were open at times to parts of the field Penny didn't even look too.
I remember the Atlanta fan coming here and saying that Long would have problems with JA, some of our folks laughed at the idea. The kid was right. Exactly, and unfortunately I think that's something that is going to continue throughout the season.
Ginn is who he is. Camarillo is a short yardage possesion WR. Bess is a vertical possesion WR. Hartline has potential to be a combo of both of their styles. Patrick Turner is a...well anyways I dont think our WRs got open much even against this shoddy ATL secondary. Thats why Penny held it for too long at times. The OL didnt block all that great and the running game never got off. D- for the offense today.
The good thing is that the defense is going to get better as the season wears on. This is going to be a much better defense once Smith and Davis figure it out. The bad side, I don't see our offense improving at all. what we have is what we are going to have at the end of the season.
Ginn sucks. Like that play where he outran the double coverage. He sucks for getting open. Lets bench him. It's not....you know, the QB's fault for a poor throw.
OT: if you guys want to get your mind off this game for a bit and gain perspective, go here. Read the 11th post as well. http://forums.thephins.com/showthread.php?t=37202
On the opposite side of this, that absolute friggin BOMB from P. White sailed way past him. I must say, even though it was incomplete, it was nice to see Ginn behind the defenders and a pass thrown to him. Wish we could see more of this, only completed.
Only thing that we can hope for is that these are correctable mistakes, and that we can get some consistency out of the O Line. At the end of the day, its one game out of the season. Lets start worrying if things don't pick up by the end of week 5. Toughest schedule in the league, and especially in our first three games. Were it not for the two turnovers deep in Atlanta territory, we honestly could have won this game. Whether those were due to Pennington or the O Line is aside from the point. The game could have, and should have been close, the final score doesn't really show that like it should. Hopefully this puts things in perspective for them, and they can figure out what it is they weren't picking up today.
