2 minute drill I voted. and that wsa ran by Pennington. No field general there.

he also underthrew Ted Ginn ;)

The game is over, the team lost the game. The blame game is so pessimistic. It's a team effort. Pointing fingers in a locker room only leads to a bad case of spontaneous combustion. There were quite a few plays that should have been better than they were, but let's just worry about being ready to beat San Diego.

2 Minute drill IMO. Of course there were many other factors that led up to that, but we were in a position to take home a win and we played like we didn't give a ****. :pity:

Do we even need this vote, seriously? The gained over 360 yards on 36 plays, over 10 yards per PLAY. After we went ahead 20-13 we let them drive 80 yards in 32 ****ing seconds. 32 seconds!
At the end of the first half we have Daniels jump offside to give them an easy 5 yards, then with 9 seconds left we leave Dallas Clark wide open on the ****ing sideline for a 20 yard gain. **** me, cover the sideline when there are only 9 seconds left in the half and they are playing to get in FG range!!!
The defense was downright putrid, how many tackles did Donald Brown run through on his TD? You would have thought that was Jim Brown out there.
Horrible, horrible, horrible. If the Colts would have had there standard amount of plays they would have put up over 50.

Defense #1, no question. In the second half they were on the field for 12 plays and gave up two TDs.

Something is wrong with Pennington. It's not like he's ever had a rocket arm but he was throwing it further last year than this year. He is playing very tentatively out there, and his accuracy is off. Leaving aside whether Fasano and Ginn should have caught those first half passes, neither was on the money. And didn't he lead some very crisp two-minute drives last year? That last drive last night was cover-your-eyes horrible.

I think it's his head and not his arm, but I don't know. Any thoughts?

I want to see what people think of this call....Our third down conversion rate was THROUGH THE ROOF....I can't recall a time where we converted at such a high rate. We were getting ourselves into manageable third and fives and shorter. MY ONLY GRIPE, however, is a certain 3rd and 6 with just over 4 minutes remaining. Knowing full well that the Colts have been driving at will on your defense you decide to........run a draw and settle for a field goal?? I'm sorry, but that one play there just dumbfounded me and it is really sticking with me as a turning point. Where is the killer instinct?! The resolve to keep this drive going. The line has been providing the greatest protection I have seen in awhile (Great game Jake!!) Dan Henning.....please shed some light on this!!

I actually blame "Meat Head McDaniel".. the guy who got an encroachment penalty AS THE NOSE GUARD right before half time. Next play Payton to Clark to get the ball to our 30. Then Vinaterry ( no clue how to spell that name ). Kicks a field goal that bounces off the post and goes in. If he kicks that from 5 yard deeper he misses.

So McDaniel, who literally lines up right in front of the ball, ends up giving them 5 points. I knew that was going to come back to haunt us.

Instead of being able to kick a FG to win at the end of the game, we have to get a TD....

    Nice job.. meat head :P

This is a young Defense that did pretty well against the best Quarterback in the league.

On the other hand, Ted Ginn left 14 points on the field - and that would have been plenty to beat the Colts.

The defense was not on the field last night. Other teams are going to attack the bejesus out of us. We have nothing up the middle of the field.

IMO we wasted the Pat White pick when we should have picked a MLB. WE could have selected a MLB from any community college and he would have been better then Crowder.

When? When did this defense play well? was it when Gibril Wilson got abused by Dallas Clark on the Colts opening drive was it McDaniels singlehandedly gave up 3 points? was it when Donald Brown trucked Gibril Wilson? was it when a 4th string WR made everyone look foolish? was it when Jason Taylor failed to make any plays?

    Ginn/The Defense/2 min drill

    -I rather have had Ginn w/ 1 rec 30yrds(?) 1 TD than 11 rec 108
-The Defense especially Wilson/Crowder couldnt tackle
-No urgency in that 2 minute drill. That play where Ginn stepped out short of the 1st down didnt help either.

Come on Nabo, you can't really think the defense played well. Over 10 yards per play, Manning averaged a God like 21.5 ypc on 14 completions, that's Madden stats not NFL stats.
Sure Ginn HAS to make that play at the end (even with the non-called interference) but to try and lay the blame on Ginn when 10 of the 11 guys on the other side of the ball decided to take the night off isn't really fair.
Ginn was the only WR that showed up last night, he was open all night long. There were a couple of plays that Pennington checked down when the replay from behind showed Ginn running free about 20 yards down field.
I'm actually beginning to worry about Pennington checking everything down, even the staff don't seem to have the confidence to let him air it down the field. Both times in 3rd > 5 situations in scoring range they ran draw plays (or give up plays as I like to call them) and settled for field goal attempts rather than trying to get the first down. Either they have no confidence in Pennington or the OL maintaining their blocks for any length of time.

So are we taking those first down catches on the final drive off of Ginn? If we do, how do we get into the position to throw the last 30 yards to him for the TD?

The next player who tries to tackle a ****ing Tight End by flailing their arms at his shoulders needs shock therapy.

3rd and 6, tie game with a few minutes left...and we run a dive play to set up a field goal? That 2 minute drill at the end? WTF

Our Receivers need to step it up, sure its nice to have Ginn be the man for 1st down receptions, but those TDs he dropped were devastating.

Fasano looks pedestrian, that could be severely hindering if not fixed soon. Pennington needs a reliable TE for a security blanket.

The Colts had the ball for under 15 minutes. They let up 27 points. That is not pretty well no matter how you cut it. Without Ted Ginn's catches to expend some drives who knows how many points the Colts would of scored. Hell Dallas Clark might be in the record books for the most yards in a game.

Ginn played a mediocre game. He was reliable until it counted. A lot of us (ok, maybe just some of us?) have known for a while he's not our #1 receiver. That guy has yet to be drafted/traded for yet. If/when we get that guy, I think Ginn opens up into an amazingly great 2nd receiver. He showed it today that he's starting to pick up the ability to get open when Pennington needs someone to throw to. He's just not reliable enough as a serious threat.

For the type of position he should be playing, he played good yesterday in my opinion. At least good enough that he doesn't need all this hate coming down on him. He was the only person catching balls out there yesterday, keep that in mind. Am I happy he missed 2 catches he could easily have made (if he judged his speed better on the first one he could have got that in bounds, and the second while a hard catch, was do-able)? No. But lets take him off the cross on this one, he helped keep us in this second to only the R&R duo.

    The whole team...

However I wish was there was an option for Henning specifically. 3rd and 6 from inside our 30, 4 min on the clock, and a tie ballgame. What does he do? Run a draw... Why? Why not let Chad pass the ball and try to get a first? We could score, kill more clock (maybe all the way to the end of the game the way were were running)?

    That was sickening...

Even worse was our final drive... 3:13 seconds left, 2 time outs, and 80 yards to go for a score. It doesn't take a rocket surgeon to figure out we need to be in the hurry up offense. We need to get down the field and us the best chance to win.

Instead, Miami runs a draw play... Then we can't get the snap off in time and burn a timeout with 2:30 left in the game... The next play we run again... And once again, with 30 seconds, can't get the snap off before the 2 min warning.

1:13 seconds, 2 runs, 4 yards, 1 time out used.... That's embarrassing. That's humiliating. That is a mistake we didn't make last year.

Even with a bad defensive performance, even with 2 missed TD opportunities, we still had a chance... With better clock management, we still could of won.

You should replace Carpenter instead of Ginn.

He hits that last field goal that he botched right, the last drive would have given us a shot for a fg to win, not forcing our offense to score a TD. I was a little upset but i even think we were in range.

But dan still wasn't the worst. Our 2 min. drill was brutal. All aspects of it. The plays, the urgency, the timeout management, the excecution. All of it. But hey how often does our team actually play those in a live game. Not often. I wasn't suprised when the 2 min. drill unfolded so poorly. But fact is, good teams know how to score in those situations. We don't, at least as of right now we don't. But we will in time...I hope.

While I did read an awful lot of knee jerk posts I had to wait a day before posting. I'm as disappointed as anyone here and equally anxious to place blame somewhere.
I've read about a play or 2 or 3 that Ginn left on the field, how the 2 minute offense was horrible. I've seen where people are calling for various members of the coaching staff to be fired, Pennington should be benched because he has a weak arm, etc.
    Here's what I think:
    So what?
Our defense allowed a team to score 27 points in less than 15 minutes worth of TOP. IMO that is what lost the game.
Analyze all you care to. But the bottom line is that football is a game of blocking and tackling. Our defense did none of this.
Manning only needed to complete 14 passes all within less than 15 minutes.
It seems to me that is what cost us the game.

The whole team. Not to mention 4th and 1 with under a minute left in the 2nd quarter. I mean against the Colts who you have been pounding with the run, 1 yard woulda been easy to get. In the process you keep them from getting the ball and a quick drive to a FG. We still had timeouts then to work with also. Coulda been a TD for us and no FG for them. That is a 7 point difference and more momentum at halftime.

As for Ginn, he showed a step forward imo lastnight, he became a go to WR. Now he is not perfect he still needs to finish some plays, like those touchdowns. But he is growing into a better WR.

When you're talking about a guy that's supposed to be you're number one, play making WR.........not so much.
