My thoughts are as follows. I re-watched some of the game, mostly the pitiful end. And here is the conclusion I came to.

I was too hard on ginn after the game. That catch in the endzone was tough to make, def. could have called interference on defense, but I am glad they didn’t, I hate when refs stop letting them play the game.

Here is what I will say though, a top tier, true number 1 receiver catches that ball. End of story. It hit his hands. It needs to be done. He said so himself. But blaming him for the loss is complete madness (cue this is Sparta joke)

I will blame this loss on 2 groups.

1). And the worst part of the game last night. Our defense. Holy **** they choked. Bad. I mean they had a mini vacation being on the sideline so long all game. Even with indy having their defense in shambles, freeny completely gassed (he looked like he gained some weight) and the entire defense tired………they stood up and stopped us when it counted.

Gibril Wilson, thanks for nothing. This guy is a joke. Tackling guys up high, looking as if he is trying to hug him instead of sticking him (like a true safety)

Channing Crowder. HOLY ****!!!!! I have defended this guy for years. YEARS. Well no more. He is garbage. He is good complement to a real good MLB. Him next to Zach worked. Channing filling Zachs shoes? Not even close. He was terrible in coverage, I blame him for that end of the 2nd quarter fieldgoal because he got raped in coverage against a rookie. Then he gets torched by dallas clark. He is terrible.

Our defense lost us this game, they deserve to be completely **** on this week. I love gibril Wilson saying after the game “peyton being peyton”. Yea peyton completed a 30 yard pass. You made a crap attempt at a tackle and it turned into 80, that’s Wilson being Wilson a-hole!

And 2). Our offensive play calling at the end of the game was >highschool. 2 straight draw plays……qb sneak with no timeouts, no urgency, no plan. It is disgusting. We looked burnt out. And we looked like a team lead by a blind man. Henning did well all game, pounding the rock. But when it counted the most, it was terrible pathetic play calling. There is nothing more to say…..it was sad. And vomit inducing.

We dominated all game, it’s a heartbreaking loss seriously. We should be 1-1 and 1-0 in the afc. This sucks. And I hope its not the end of our team. All I know is Jason taylor looked old, crowder looked terrible and slow, pennington is holding our offense back, and we have no play makers on offense. Gibril Wilson is terrible. Very terrible. God im so depressed. Good luck next week boys. Were gunna need it. Phillip rivers is licking his chops.

The offense had every right to be gassed at the end. People always talk about how tough it is on defense to never get off the field, but when the offense is on the field for 3 quarters worth of time, earning every single yard, they are going to be feeling it.

Our defense owes everyone an apology. Our first 2 picks next draft, better be inside linebackers.

agree with everything you said. We couldn't tackle. We couldn't cover. I am still irritated after the first quarter dropped touchdowns. Fasano had one, and then Ginn looked like he stopped running hard and tried to catch up. And then the 3rd and 10 free play offsides towards the end, Pennington sees they're offsides and then throws an 8 yard pass, WTF. Free play, at least try something downfield.
At least we got to watch R & R pound them for 45 minutes...

cant agree. their defense stood up, came up with a big sack....they were even more exhausted cause they were the ones being dominated all game. and they stood up and stopped us. they are all pros. our play calling was pitiful.

He's terrible in coverage yes, but he is a tackling machine. Unfortunately, when you face a great pass offense, you're coverage skills (or lack thereof) get exposed.

This team was built to stop the run - which they did for the most part. Adding Smith and Davis was a clear plan to get better in coverage, which is why next year we WILL be drafting another LB(s).

tackling machine is a interesting phrase. because if he was like zach, making tackles behind or @ the LOS then thats one thing, but the fact he takes terrible angels, and is always cleaning up someone elses tackle 15 yards downfield, those tackles are very misleading. hes a below average middle linebacker. he had the benefit of playing next to ZT for awhile, he could just scrape and fill the hole zach blew up......now hes on a island, hes the main guy....and hes very below par imo

WOOOOEEEE! Slow down there. Come back off from that ledge. It's going to be okay, you hear me?! It's going to be fine. No need go there. You just relax and everything will be fine. There doesn't need to be a Jason Allen sighting in the starting secondary... ever....never, ever, never.

    Good post Sick.

Thats what I've thought/said about Crowder this whole offseason. Crowder should be our #2, and Ayodele should be #3. Neither of them possess the abilities of a #1 MLB. Crowder can stop the run, and Ayodele is decent against the pass. But in situations like last night, Crowder is a huge liability.

I wouldnt write off Ginn just yet. He made two great endzone grabs last year. Im not saying thats a lot or anything. But the one against Seattle was insane, and the one against the Jets was clutch. He may turn out to be a very good #2 WR, but as of right now he's proving to be a decent #1. He converted 6 3rd downs last night. Without those, our defense would have probably given up 40 points. I'd like to see Ginn get more than two chances per game to catch something other than a dig, out, or curl. Which leads to my next point.

Henne can run this offense just as good as Pennington. Hell, Cleo Lemon could run this offense. It doesnt take much of a QB to be able to throw curl routes all game long, and get sacked when no one is open underneath. Henne can opperate this basic passing attack just as effectively. But that would mean Pennington would be the emergency QB. I would be ok with that.

I generally have been a crowder doubter, and yes, he sucked last night, but isn't that a coach's decision to put him in a position to do more than he's capable of doing, or not teach him effective techniques to disrupt the guy he's supposed to cover? For instance, shorten the zone Crowder is supposed to cover before its picked up by the safety (then again, if Wilson has that responsibility, don't know if it would just change the # on the shirt getting torched). But I think a good bit of the responsibility has to go on poor scheme decisions by the D coordinator.

one thing we have to seriously start thinking about is whether gibril wilson is struggling or this is him. I mean he was cut from the raiders, and we gave him a fat contract...looks like another ooops signing to me

For those making a stand for Channing Crowder, keep in mind he may not supposed to be great in coverage, however if he allows the reception then he must make the tackle and last night he pulled a Gerbil Wilson, hit the guy, slide off of him watch the play from the ground.

Some good things...they got the offense turned around from game one. They got the special teams turned around from game one. Hopefully they can get the defense turned around for game three. As hard as it was to watch them lose that one, it is encouraging to see that the coaching staff seems to be able to make improvements week to week.

    Honestly, why not?
He can´t be worse than Wilson on the Safety position.
I think he did well when he had the chance to be on the field, except for the one time when he was asked to cover Moss one on one with no help as a CB.
At least he has ball skills and could come up with an INT now and then...

So far our D has produced zero turnovers...

gish i agree. henne can run this offense, now pennington wasnt as bad as game 1 last night. but he is showing flashes of why the jet fans called for his head. if henne gets 200 yards rushing.....we win that game with his ability to playaction and throw deep routes.

and i think people get caught up in the term "deep routes" i dont mean bombs for touchdowns, but i mean deep corner routes, posts, and deep crossing routes....all of which henne can and would have confidence in throwing. and all of which, would open our offense and help our running game be even more effective.

imagine this for a second.....our running game is our bread and butter. against consistant 8 man boxes. we get henne in there, with the ability to make strong long throws.....which stretches the defense....our running game is even ****ing better.

    wow. scary to think about.

I've slept on it too and I still believe that Ginn sucks at the WR position. Big time players make those catches, he needed to be a man about it and just go get the ball. Maybe next week he can put a skirt on and go be a cheerleader.

Our D, we all know played bad, but also if our O would have put TD's on the board instead of long FG's, things would be different.

I'm not going to put all the blame on Ginn, but he is a big part of why we lost.

Even most of the Ginn apoligists on this site would stop short of calling him a "Big Time Playmaker".

We don't, and haven't had a big time playmaker at WR for a long time.

He did NOT drop two td's. He dropped ONE td which should have been PI putting us on the goalline. The first one that he "dropped" was out of his reach. Gimme a break. The loss is not on Ginn. We lost because our defense gave up 27 points. You could say that we didn't wi. Because Ginn didn't catch that ball in the endzone, but that's not the sam as saying that we lost because of him. He could have bailed out the D on a jump ball...but who throws a jump ball to Ginn???

Interesting that Pat Cobbs has taken over for Ted Ginn on kick offs and he did a fine job, but that is a sign of Ginn now being "just" a Wr.

They did very little to stop us. We stopped ourselves in the end. Their defense was tired and our offense was tired.

We are not built for a quick strike offense, plain and simple. I have very little negative to say about the offense in that game. Their defense was horrid, but ours was soooooo much worse.
