I wanted to write my thoughts on the team, so here goes.

I've read some of the posts about how awful Ginn , CP, JT, JP, and on and on. I've read where some have given up on the team, certain players and our coaches.
Well, I for one, have never, nor will I ever give up on my Dolphins.
What I see is a bunch of guys (&coaches) working their butts off day in and day out. They tried their hardest to win and didn't.
Some act like they drop passes on purpose, there's no big plays, no decent wr's, no decent qb, awful calls, bad coaching.
To me, they are my team, win, lose or draw. I don't know about play calling and all that stuff. But I do know that these are just men trying to do their job. And yes, they get paid a lot to do their jobs, but that still doesn't mean their not allowed to make mistakes. You can bet if I did what they have to do, I'd get paid out the butt too. One big injury, one mistake and their careers over. Yeah, I know, their grown and know what it all entails, but their still human, not animals.
I also know that this is a place to come and write comments and opinions about our team, as it should be. I just can't do the bashing thing. I couldn't do it year before last even.
Sure, I get angry, disgusted and frustrated, but I try to look at them as men and not just ball players. That helps me get through the bad times, I guess. If we feel this passionate and angry about a loss, I can't imagine how they must feel.
I'm not downing anyone for their opinions, I'm just stating mine.
In meds chat last night it got pretty nasty. One minute it's great, the next some have given up the whole season. I don't get that logic. In my mind, there's always next week or next year.
I'm also not disagreeing with some of the things said, I just disagree with maybe, how it's stated.
There's even a thread about getting rid of bp now. He's not even our coach tony is. IMO Tony is good and has built something out of nothing and deserves credit for that. He can't go on the field and play for the team.
Ok, I'm rambling now, so I'll stop.
I really don't want to hear about how much of a homer I am, how I don't understand how anyone feels or anything else bad about the guys here in my thread. I just wanted to TRY and write my feelings and concerns.
After watching in Atlanta last week and what they did this week I, for one, am proud to be a Miami Dolphin fan.
So,, go ahead, I know some of you want to let me have it, I'm ready.

I'll be honest, there have been periods where there were things just SOOOO fundamentally wrong with the Phins that I refused to watch them... just two: the end of Chuck Studley's tenure as DC (phins could not even tackle, never improved), and after the 3rd game of Culpepper.

But I see NOTHING even remotely suggesting this team is in such a hopeless condition that I'd quit watching them. What this team HAS done under Sparano, is show a knack for improvement and correcting errors over a period of several games. I have no reason to doubt that will continue.

Great stuff Deb. I agree, they are our team win lose or tie. I was much much happier with this performance than the game against ATL.

They had a plan, excecuted the plan, and lost to a very good team in the dying moments. No shame in that. I think the positive growth from week 1 that they put on display last night was so much better and telling of what we can expect moving forward, i know we'll win lots of games and have a shot at the playoffs in a very tough division with a hard schedule.

It's all good Deb. I think deep down we all feel the same way you do. But, last night's loss was extremely frustrating (for me anyway). That was a game we should've won. :headwall:

I think it should also be said that we, as men (mostly that's who's on here...right?), we think we can fix anything. Even a professional football franchise. We know it all after all. Or, at least we think we do. :wink2:

Nonetheless, your point/post is spot on. You go girl!

Well, I for one think Parcells is a good-for-nothing linebacker and he better learn how to cover Ted Ginn....oh, wait a minute :shifty:

All well said Deb, and something to remember....

We ALL love this team, and many of these things are out of frustration and anger.

If we didn't love the team so much we would feel neither, at least not to the degree we are seeing in here

    Thanks for that Debby.

Thing is I dont know why or what but this loss man has hurt me worse than any other I can honestly care about in awhile.

Hell, even after last years uneventful playoff exit...

I guess I feel like the cat in this .gif today after all these years and it just feels old that the Dolphins, no matter who is on this team or coaching the team its always the same old same old feeling...

I honestly understand all the frustration etc. Kenny.
I've just been pure mush when it comes to this team. I have never really understood why I fell in love with them. I watched them on an old black & white tv during the sb with Dallas and that's all it took. then of course, the next season was the perfect one. But I was a goner after that first game.
I can get more emotional, crying, screaming, (and used to cuss) over this team than anything else. My son will not take my bp during a game. I wanted to just see how high it goes, but he says no way. LOL

Anyway, I love you guys and love this place.
Thanks for letting me vent or whatever it is I do.:wink2:

Deb, you are always the calm pool or water in our rapidly flowing stream of emotions! Yeah, I also used to get all worked up after a game, win or lose. Since I have gotten older, I still feel those ups and downs during the game and last night was a joy to watch....... well until the last 3 mins or so, but I can now let the frustration of a loss like this behind me and look forward to next weeks game rather quickly.

Hi Deb. Great perspective. It has been my experience that different personalities react differently. I too have been amazed before at the viscious criticism in chats or games or at football gatherings that are soon tempered with high fives short term after a good play. During the Atlanta game, I was in chat and people were suggesting that Chad Pennington was purposely playing poorly to "save his stats." I know that Chad P. is not an elite qb in many ways, but NOTHING about the man as a player or person could ever indicate he cares more about stats than winning. My point? I get your frustration. However, in the end, we're all just fans so I get over and try not to judge, as I, myself, was cussing like a sailor, privately, during the game. I'm not even going to get into what song I was singing when I was annoyed with the commentators' "sherriff" comments.

I missed the sheriff comments. I usually hate listening to them talk anyway. Most of them just sound stupid, so I try to ignore them.

Can't believe anyone would doubt Chad's love of the game even if their frustrated.

I get over it to. What choice do we have? LOL
Thanks for the comments Lisa I appreciate it.

You don't work your butt off to go out and coach scared, I'm looking for Tony Sparano to coach like he has a little faith in his offense from now on. Like he coached most of last year. None of this let's try to beat a high powered offensive team with four field goals crap. That's what I want more than anything. I do not want another Wanny on the sidelines. After a day to think about I can say I am the most disappointed in his ultra conservative decision making late in the game.

    Great post Deb.

This is the best post I've seen since the loss. Thanks for bringing some perspective to a loss that many of us, myself included, are taking kind of hard. I know a lot of my disappointment is that they just didn't get the job done last night ... when they proved that they could during last year's season. It's tough to see a team do all of those things right but still not close the game.

But you're right. They're the Dolphins, and they're our team. We owe it to support them, even with the rough 0-2 start they've faced to begin the year. Let's root for them to whip the Chargers next week in San Diego.

    Very good points Deb.

I think there are a lot of factors that went into the knee jerk reaction that we see after a loss like that.

First: I have never in any sport seen a team dominate the way the Dolphins did on offense and still lose the game. To lose a game after watching your team dominate so much is really heartbreaking and exausting.

Second: The ups and downs of the game I think just completely enhanced all the emotions of a loss. We get scored on the first play of the game and we are all thinking "oh no" Then we drive down the field and just look amaing and were thinking "oh Yeah"

Third: This is the problem that we have seen with the Fins for soooo long. We always give up the big play at the end of the game. That has been the stigma of this team for years, so its just hard to take that again.

Finally for me personally, I found out that I passed my NCLEX (Nursing board exam) earlier that afternoon, and was crushed with a dolphins loss that night. Ruined my celebration!!!

I like you though Deb still love this team. I have watched every game for years now, I dont care what their record is. This is our team, these are our guys, they are not perfect, but as long as they are giving it all they have and working to get better, thats all you can ask. One day my friends, one day.

I'm with you. the gambit of emotions we go through as fans is, at best, exhausting, exhilerating and depressing. I'm totally drained after a game.

Congrats on you nursing board exam.

I just went and read some of the posts on the Colts forum.
In the thread John started they were so nice and mostly up-beat for us.
They gave us compliments and praise for our playing.
It's nice to go to an opponents board and be treated like we treat other fans here.

And in some of the posts, THEY were complaining about their playing. Nice to know all of us fans are basically the same. (except for some fan bases) I'll leave who they are up to you guys.
