A lot of little things could have helped us win but the defense wasnt there when we needed them to be

They count when you want to win games.

Without Ginn's 3rd down catches Miami loses by 30 with how the defense was playing.

Just my own opinion....I don't think it's so much a matter of defending Ginn or even pretending that he didn't make any mistakes. The poll asked who do you blame. Now I can't answer for anyone else, but I took it to mean who should shoulder the most blame.
It's true Ginn had a couple of very key misses. However he also made 108 yards worth of good plays. Several of those resulted in 3rd down conversions.
    What did the defense do?
Do you believe that the defense made more plays than Ginn?
Myself, I don't. Our defense allowed the Colts to score 27 points in less than 15 minutes TOP.
Again just my own way of looking at it; but I feel like any miscues made by Ginn or Pennington or whomever on the offensive side are pretty minor when compared to what we saw from our defense.

Yep, because I understand that losing the game wasn't his fault.

I'm part of a "protectorate"? How cute.

Which of his 11 catches were putting him in a position to make plays? Was it the 6 or 7 outs he caught or the 3/4 balls over the middle that came at him generally between waist and knee height surrounded by his corner and two safeties?

    Just for the record.

i wouldnt say he's a possession guy. well he is while pennington is the QB but what he is and was drafted to be is the speed receiver who can strecth the field. He was never supposed to be the Larry Fitzgerald type that fights for the ball. He was the guy that gets a step on his defender and you hit him in stride for a long gain. When Henne starts eventually we will know how effective he is in the deep game. For now I'm pleasantly impressed with Ginn's transformation into a possession receiver. He is not the go to guy. Thats not his role, well its not supposed to be at least. We have our slot/possession receiver Bess, Cammarillo, Hartline. We have our speed guy Ginn. But we still need our big play go to guy. Ginn cant be asked to be something he isnt. He serves an important role. Unfortunately he's being asked to be someone he isnt right now. He's a complimentary receiver

That makes no sense whatsoever. So when Moss, Fitzgerald, Johnson etc make a catch on 3rd down to convert they don't count either?
Do you expect them to make every 3rd down catch and turn it into a TD?

So 1st down catches on 3rd downs don't count for Larry Fitz, Andre Johnson, Roddy White, etc?

Anyone ever notice that with Chad Pennington, every receiver is a possession receiver?

The defense lost it, the offense failed to win it back after that. Deefense was the main problem.

If I were to put that poll list in order of importance it would be as follows:

    1. Defense
    2. 2 minute offense
    3. conservative play calling
    4. whole team
    5. Ginn

Gibril Wilson's tackling was a big factor, but it's not all his fault.

And I thought much of the defense played well.

Last year we had a new hero each week.

This year it's a "who's the goat this week" discussion after each game.

Let's turn this thing around so we can stop playing the blame game.

(and, by the way, no one seems to be noticing that Jake Long still looked offbalance way too often in pass protection. It is still a concern. He plays so well going forward on the run, and we ran so much, that it didn't become a major problem this game.)

If we rephrased the question to look like, "Could Ted Ginn have won the game for us?" we would see 95%+ poll votes for the "Yes." option.

If we can say he had a chance to win it for us (twice, imo) why can't we say that he lost it for us?

    Because he did, twice.

Put the question "Did the defense have a chance to win it for us?" up there and you would get even more yes votes.

he was off balance all of last year too. He's ugly to look at but generally gets the job done. I think his problems are only with guys that have both speed and power. If they're one dimensional he can handle them although it wont be pretty

    Colorado Dolfan ...dirty drownin' man?

By that logic, the defense lost the game for us each time they let the Colts score. :pity:

Using that logic we should blame Fasano for the loss since he dropped a td. We can blame Pennington for throwing porr passes into the endzone for our guys to catch. If Pennington throws Fasano a better ball, then he doesn't loft one out of Ginn's reach on the next play, and he hits Ginn in stride at the end of the game instead of making a 5'10" receiver, who isn't known for his jumping, go for a jump ball. You blame Wilson since he didn't make the pick that allowed Indy to kick a field goal. You blame Carpenter for shanking that field goal...had he hit it, we only have to hit a field goal at the end to win it.
