3 Reasons why we'll win and 3 reasons why we'll lose against San Diego

I assume by now you are all over this loss, if not well then get over it, the season could very well be determined on Sunday

    Reasons why we'll win

    1) The Offense is clicking

After a dissapointing first week when everything that went wrong on offense did go wrong, the offense finally got it together. And alot of that had to do with something that many of us have been screaming for years: Give 23 the ball, and tear it up he did, at one point he was averaging 9 yards a carry. Ronnie played as well as he did in what would have been his breakout year in 07, if not for Cleo Lemon throwing a bone headed pick. He ran the wildcat to perfection and you can read about our new wrinkles here:(kudos to Garden Head for finding it first.

I cant take away anything from Ricky and Patrick Cobbs, they both ran well and hard.

Alot of that has to do with the solid play of the OL(except for Vernon carey who nearly ****ed us towards the end

Pennington played well and did everything he could to get us to win

And yes I'm going to give Ginn some props evn though half of you will throw a hissy fit. Without him we dont stay on the field since he did step up when it came to converting those 3rd downs, and yes he droped the game winner but should it have come down to that? Hell no if anything blame the coaches who put 3 guys out there who arent physical enough to make that kind of catch.

    2) San Diego's Defense has been a dissapointment.

Yes they have the Roider, Luis Castillo and promising rookie Larry English and one of the best CBs in Antonio Cromartie(and one of the most overrated in Quentin Jammer) Simply put they havent been getting it down the past two weeks, hell Jamarcus "I have no accuracy" Russell somehow made them look foolish. and they had a tough time with Baltimore, of course the Ravens are a much more balanced team than in year's past. Their Run Defense is highly suspect and we just happen to have a 3 headed monster in the backfield

    3) Norv Turner cant coach his way out of a paper bag.

Really there is nothing more to add to this. How the hell can a team with that much talent constantly underperform? Despite the mistakes last night I have faith our coaching staff will rebound from Monday night's game, Sparano is a perfectionist and he will rarely make the same mistakes twice.

    Why we'll lose

    1) Phillip Rivers will go all PHILLIP RIVERS!

    [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6PSzYcRSrg0&feature=player_embedded"]YouTube - Philip Rivers ad[/ame]

The guy is a beast, hell he threw over 400 yards against the Ravens Defense, sure that may be because... well **** he kind of had to but the Ravens secondary has a boatload of talent, Sean Smith has shown alot of promise and Will Alen is still underrated but our Safeties have been a liablity.
(DIAFF Gibril). Vincent Jackson has come into his own apparently and Chris Chambers can still produce at his age. However, knowing that Chambers is good for a a few drops a game and our Cbs played well enough against Jenkins and Wayne, I'm not too worried about Vincent Jackson, I'm worried about 2 guys: Gates and Sproles. Why cant we cover a TE ever? and Sproles is deadly in space, I'm guessing they'll throw a bunch of screens at our Defense seeing as that no one on this team can a player behind the LOS on a screen.

    2) WRAP THEM UP!

Our Defense has shown an annoying habit to miss tackles, leading to big plays for the opposing offense, and like I said, with the weapons the Super Chargers have you cannot afford to let someone break a tackle for a big gain.
Channing better back up his mouth and learn to bring someone down. Somehow I have a feeling we will still see a bunch of missed tackles.

    3) The Pass Rush could be killer

Shawn "I beat whores" Merrimen is going to be a handful for Big Jake and yes while Jake handled Freeney pretty well, the Roider is just as talented as Freeney if not more so. If Jake cant handle Merrimen then we may end up seeing Henne sooner rather than later, as Pennington limps off the field.

I think Jake will have an easier time with a player like Merriman who relies more on a bull rush rather then running by the lineman which seems to give Jake the most trouble.

And both of SD corners are overrated.

They are limiting Shawne right now, and I don't believe he is back to 100% yet.

Are his knees still bothering him? I'm still suprised he's playing at this point.

what worries me is simply Jackson and Gates across the middle. anything else, i think we can handle.

I don't know why, but I don't see Gates as being nearly a big of a problem as Gonzales or Clark. Gates is not the same Gates as of recent years. He has lost a step and that should prevent the huge gains. Even our super sonic slow LB's should be able to limit the big ones and even tho last year was last year I thought Bell did a good job on him. I just think Bell matches up well with big Gates.

Now as for Sproles and the screen passes, those could cause me to hold my breath ending with a big sigh of disappointment. I belive this game will depend on Sproles alone. If we can contain him, we win. If not we will lose another close one.

i agree that Gates won't have a monster game, but the threat of both him and Jackson working the middle does scare me right now.

as long as they stay disciplined, i think we can contain Sproles ...

screens will be a problem until we can solve the pass rush ... the less effective we are, the 'harder' we'll try, the more screens will hurt

Pressure the gaps in the run game and keep everything inside and pressure Rivers on passing downs and we'll be good on D. On O we just need to keep the progress going! CP actually overthrew some passes last week so I can see some added strength there, they just need to connect on those and they will in time!
