I expected a lot more from our pass rush with jason taylor coming back.Taylor and porter have been huge dissapointments thru the first 2 games.We need pressure or we are toast with are suspect safeties and lousy ILBS.
I thought they have played semi well myself. JT is in a new position for him and I've seen him knock back a few lineman which amazed me. While it is true that they "only" have one sack each, the rest of our defense only has one (Dolphins.com as the other by Ferguson, NFL.com has it by Merling). We really need a push up the middle and OMG do we need a decent blitz from a ILB in at least one game this year. I would put another part of this on the two teams/QBs/OLs we have played so far. Matt Ryan has only been sacked by us while Peyton Manning has only one sack by the Jags.
Taylor did not even make a tackle against the colts.These two need to step it up to hide are other flaws.
It is exceptionally vanilla - very little stunting, twisting or scheming going on up front right now.
Exactly, and what is worse is the sacks for JT and JP came on disguised blitzes, JT ran a twist to the inside and JP blitzed from coverage on the Slot.
Also don't forget, we played two teams that don't give up many sacks at all. The Colts gave up what, 14 last year? The Falcons gave up 16?
Very true Con. I've been complaining about that for awhile now. I really hope they're planning on changing things up. One of the most admirable qualities about this staff is that they seem to learn from their mistakes. They have to see that what they're doing is not working. I hope.
We still need some youth up front. Sorry, but Porter, Taylor and Ferguson are all playing on borrowed time and we need some game changers and play makers in the middle.
I agree for a rebuilding team we are getting old up front but I do like langford and merling up front.I know everybody is crying for a wideout but we need a stud nose tackle and a couple of a play making ILB.
Wait until the secondary can provide coverage that will allow the passrush to do it's job. Ryan and Manning tore up the secondary on quick passes and compound that with missed tackles and mental mistakes that keep the opposing offenses in rhythm.
That might be the problem but I do not know what ireland was thinking when he signed wilson.We have 2 strong safeties (wilson,bell) we need a free safety that can cover.I hope clemons proves to be that guy in the future.I think he has the talent.
There are 16 games for a reason. This isn't the BCS...you are allowed to lose a couple of games in a season.
I am only speaking the truth, we lose its over.If you think other wise you are smoking some good stuff.If we win we have a small glimmer of hope.This schedule is way harder than last years.We lose tommorow we need to start looking at the 2010 mock drafts.
