First off, before the game I felt nervous about the game. Like I said I was really concerned about Rivers. I got there early. It was in the mid to upper 80's and very humid. Lot's of Dolphin fans there. I would say between maybe 5-10,000 maybe. A shame the game turned out the way it did, because you could just sense they wanted to get loud. I walked around and all the Dolphin fans were very cool, and friendly. The game. I know there were turn overs that didn't help, but being there I just was not a fan of Henning's play calling. I think he needs to replaced, but then again that is just my opinion. Especially when Ginn dropped one, and we went right back to him and dropped another one. In my opinion he should not be a starting WR. Just my honest opinion. Before the game Carpenter was hitting field goals from far away as 56 yards that I saw. Lot's of strength in his leg. The Charger fans were very cool. Some smack talk came after the game but it was maybe 1% of the fans. I had the honor of meeting and having a beer with Brother Bpk at the game. It was a pleasure to meet him. Brother Zeke, and Michael sorry I couldn't meet you at the game. Brother Kenny sorry our phone call didn't go well at the game, but the Charger fans were very loud. The loudest I have seen since going to the games.
It's cool that their fans were cool. Broncos fans our here are like that for most part. I've been to 4 games and have never had a problem with their fans to me. I'll cheer and do the mile high salute, the in-com-plete chant, and a few other things, but never to one of thier fans. It's inbetween my friend and I.
On the trolley ride back to my car some Dolphins and I were talking. We all agreed the secondary at times looked really lost out there. Hopefully they will get better.
I don't see anyone else stepping up in the Receiving corps which is sad. If Ginn doesn't show some drastic improvement with Henne then it might be the end of the Ted Ginn Era in Miami come off-season. Also interesting tidbit http://www.fannation.com/truth_and_...cells-keeps-fins-from-acquiring-star-receiver
I also met a nice couple and there daughter. They were behind me and were very friendly. Named Bill and Annie, and can't recall there daughter's name but she flew out from DC for the game. Bill said I believe his son turned him on to our site. Bill said keep up the great work!
I am not happy with Ginn's play today. he only had two short passes thrown to him, which makes me upset with our offense, but Ginn has to make those catches. I actually give our defense a pass. They didn't play at a top level, but 16 points to the chargers isn't bad. With a better offense, we could win this game. That fumble in the first was bad, really bad. Sorry i couldn't hook up with any fellow phin fans. My cousin had a shot gun wedding yesterday, didn't even find out until Friday
hey hope you had a great time, but a question since you were there and my sound on my computer sucks......did they really play Dolphins at the end trying to mock us? did they play one of the Dolphins songs after a SD score?.......
You know bro I couldn't honestly answer that. I was in dis-belief that we played the way we did. I stayed until the very end.
1st play of the game CP went deep to Ginn, but overthrew him. Yes, CP overthrew Ginn. Not Ginn's fault on that one.
True fan stays till the end I've heard so many times, let's go before the traffic its' crap. Did you work on your tan?
Yeah they did put on the Dolphin sound after every score in the 2nd half. I think they also did it on the two bombs to start drives also. Also the referee's sounds were not audible most of the game
Fellow fin fans were indeed abundant, and energized early on, and even though I ended up squarely centered, in a rival patch of blue and static gold, my immediate neighbors were all very amicable, well natured characters throughout. I connected with BPK by phone onroute to the game, but unfortunately missed the postgame assembly, and will have to meet some of our family members here in-person, at our next west coast rally, hopefully amid triumphant victory, rather than incumbent misery.
I had the pleasure of meeting John for the first time yesterday while attending my first NFL game. It was awesome to attend, though the result sucked eggs. My observations: 1) Our boys were out very early warming up. Bess was taking a lot of punts. Will J. Allen, Sean Smith, Jason Allen, Phil Merling were all very early to the field (like and hour before the game). We seemed pretty focused at the time. Very few, if any, Chargers came out that early. In pre-game I had the sense we wanted it more. Oh well, we lost anyways. 2) When SParano came out the Fins fans by the endzone were cheering and calling to him. He gave us a little fist pump it was cool. 3) Sparano walked around as his players stretched and patted each one on the back and had a word with each one to encourage them. 4) Seemed to me like San Diego would have had better success running more screens on us the way our middle-run defense was playing against them. The Chargers fans around me agreed. 5) That endzone fumble really took our neck of the Chargers throats. That long drive had already started deflating them, but once they got that turnover the stadium's energy and the teams energy came right back. 6) Ronnie brown made some AMAZING reads and cuts on inside runs. I was in awe of how quickly he made some of those inside decisions and how escaped some potential tacklers, especially near the goalline. 7) Sean Smith was pissed at himself for allowing a completion to.. I think it was either Jackson or Gates? Can;t recall which now. 8) Saw Wake get around the edge a couple times, dip the shoulder. Man he gets low to the ground and leans on his rush. He was within a couple of steps of Rivers a few times, but too late to get to him. The RT rode him far enough out or pushed him down enough to slow him. 9) Patrick Cobbs is a safe returner, but because he lacks speed it's always a return middle, as near as I can tell. We need speed back there to be able to attack the sidelines on our returns. 10) Those two successive Ginn drops were absolutely very catchable despite being a little low. Heck, Ginn likes them low because he is halfway to laying down that way anyways. Very unhappy with Ginn for those. We needed them. 11) I noticed that after Henne came into the game, the receivers immediately had more trouble holding onto the ball. Chad Pennington is always said to throw a very 'catchable' ball. Part of what we gain from Henne's in a strong arm, also causes us problems. His stronger arm throws a harder to catch bullet, I think. The receivers had a bit of trouble adapting to it. They should look better next week after practicing with Henne. 12) Henne still looking at his receiver too much, too early too long, imo. You're not a rookie anymore, Chad Henne. If you haven;t changed this habit by now, you probably never will. 13) That pick six was the evidence of how Henne is not a perfect upgrade over Chad Pennington. 14) Will Allen is a consummate professional. He did nore technique drills and warm-ups than any other player yesterday in pregame.. by far. Will was the first guy out there preparing himself and when all the other players were done preparing, Will was still going at it. 15) Really bafflinf play calls at points. It was obvious at one point that Ronnie Brown and the run game had tons of momentum and the San Diego D couldn;t even slow it down... and suddenly we stopped running to Ronnie or Ricky mid-drive. The drive, predictably, stalled. Baffling. 16) Chargers fans are, for the most part, very good-natured with opposing fans. Stay classy, San Diego!! 17) Larry English looked good. Got to the QB once, I think, almost got to him multiple times. If think I noticed him drop back/read a short pass too and make a play on it.
I went to the Chargers Pats game last year and I will second that the Chargers fans are a lot of fun, and great people to tailgate with.
Was there as well sorry we didnt hook up John but what a cluster**** it is to get parked at that place....the one thing that stood out to me on D...A lot of cummunication going on but it looked more like "wtf am I doing" then guys making sure they have the correct call very unsettling.
Not sure if Ginn should be replaced as a starter, but the Henning thing I tend to agree his playcalling has been bad this year. I think I we still have to give him a chance to turn it around. Let's see if he gets more creative with Henne.
Ah, I probably shouldn't have called brother. That was almost the EXACT time our defense started to fold Hey, did you remember to take your cooler home with you this time at least?
I was at the game too. Drove down from L.A. The Chargers didn't beat us. The Dolphins beat themselves.
I called the local radio show this morning on the way to work. I talked to CS. Keys and Billy Ray Smith. Billy Ray said how come Henning didn't go back to the wildcat in the second half? I said it's like all year so far, if it is working we go the other way. Why when Henne was in didn't we try to stretch the field more? I know he had pressure, but we can't stay with the dink and dunks the rest of the life of the Miami Dolphins organization. I just think the surprise factor, and sneaking up on defenses is gone from this team right now. I am ready for someone with more creativity to run this offense now.
