Alright, everyone...we really need your help now. As you've seen here, our beloved Mary (njfinfan to those who have been living in a cave for the last couple years ) needs some help fostering her little treasure Bean— —while she and her family get back on their feet after some setbacks. It's all arranged now and little Bean is going to be lovingly cared for, but we need your help defraying the cost of transporting her to her new home. I thought I was going to be able to cover it but a sum of money that I was expecting is going to be delayed, and Mary's family really needs this to happen sooner than later. So we're asking that you donate what you can via paypal to Mary: mary@godolphins.us so that we can get Bean— —in the air and into her loving new home with The Funny Cats: Thanks MUCH for anything you can do!
Thank you guys. I got a very, very good rate to fly Bean to Seattle via Alaska Airlines and you are all helping to try to make it happen.
BTW - so everyone knows - the rate I got from Alaska Airlines is $315.00 to fly her to Seattle from Newark - cargo freight. We also have to purchase a kennel for her to fly in that meets the airlines' standards (Bean has to be able to sit straight up in it, completely turn around and lie down completely). She's a very small animal so it doesn't have to be very big but I have no idea even where to purchase it at or how much they cost. Any ideas? With your generous donations, we're a third of the way to our goal. I have just under $100 so far. You guys rock!
If the fund is still in need by Friday (payday) I'll donate. Wal-Mart has carriers for relatively cheap. Pet supermarkets are generally more expensive, but you can also try your classifieds, Penny-Saver, etc. They are often for sale cheap on those things. FTR, the chi rescue has not returned any of our 6 calls.
Thanks for trying, but at this point she's committed to going to Joe and Gloria and Gloria is already so in love with the pup from her pics. You guys are being very generous - I'll keep you posted come Friday. I'll also check out the sources you gave for the kennel. Thanks!
You guys are awesome and yes, Terry, we'll miss her dearly but I know she's going to good hands. I'd like to identify the donators so far. Zeke0123 - Brian cnc66 - Marty GoPhins - Charles NewEra8 - William TJamesW_Phinfan - Terry unluckyluciano - who shall remain unnamed! Hollifinfan - Lisa Boik14 - Matt Vengeful Odin - Eric Sethdaddy8 - Seth Bigbry - Bryan Thanks everyone! We're now a little less than halfway to the goal! Thanks also to those who cannot donate but have expressed their well wishes for our puppy.
Thanks Matt. I'm not too familiar with paypal, but I know how to login. I think if you have a paypal account, you can login and click on the link that says send money - but not real sure.
I just spoke with Alex (referred by Sethdaddy8). He wants me to send him an eloquent story about our troubles and why we have to part with our Beanage and some pics so he can try to drum up some more money so she can get safely to Joe and Gloria. Thanks everyone for all your help. We are nearing our goal. We love you all and know that Bean will be well taken care of in Seattle.
They're not very expensive Joe - we had one for her but in our rush to leave the house, we forgot it. I think we're on the right track and thank G for us please. We know Bean is going to be well loved with you guys!
If Bean has a sweater or something it would be good for her to wear it on the trip. It can get cold where she's traveling. Also, doggy tranqs will help her cope.
Howdy All, This is Gloria, The Bean's future foster Mom. I just want to shout out how generous you all are and how excited Joe and I are to take care of this little munchkin. I know that she will be reunited with her Mom and Dad in no time at all. I am also honored that Mary trusts us to care for Miss. Bean. I have discussed the new arrival with the Funny Cats and they are all very curious and happy to have a new buddy. Malta's only request is The Bean knows that she is the boss. I don't think that will be a problem since Bean is smaller than Malta
(This is Gloria again) I am currently looking at getting her a Dolphins Mini Jersey and a Leopard Faux Fur Hoodie
Post-morning walk Wednesday. Oh, and by the way Joe, she's a snorer! But it's so cute. Just to let everyone who donated know, we are up to a grand total in my paypal account of $176.66 from your generous donations. Thanks.
Indeed she is. And btw Joe - I'm in touch (through member Sethdaddy8) with an Alex Giassa from petfinder.com, who is working to try and acquire donations to help send Bean to you. He knows the story and I sent him an email and pics of Bean (which he asked for) this morning so that he can help get more money for her trip. He's also donating a free kennel for her to travel in.
I just spoke with Alex. His current angle is to find someone he knows and knows is an animal lover to "escort" Bean to Seattle - then Bean gets to go in the cabin with this person and doesn't have to fly in the cargo hold, even though the Alaska Air agent told me the cargo hold has the same air and pressure as in the cabin. And he said that will lower the price for Bean as well.
Oh, that would be so awesome! And if that person needed accommodations in Seattle, either Gloria or I certainly could oblige.
Okay - on a tip by one of the staff - I'm going to check out a couple more airlines because he got a much better price than $315 and we have collected just under $200. Maybe we can spring for a sweater for her to travel in. I'll keep you guys posted. Edit: Just got off the phone with Alaska Air. I got a price quote for $171.00. I sent the information to Joe and requested that with the remainder maybe we could buy her a sweater or hoodie to wear on the plane. I'll give you guys some further info since you're so vested in Bean now. Here's part of the PM I sent to Joe. _______________________________ I got a quote from Alaska Air for a total of $171.00, based on the size of the kennel Bean will be in. In addition, (she was real nice) she said the pets travel in a cargo hold just below the first class cabin and it's only for pets. It's heated to 68 Degrees and pressurized. It's away from the jet engine noises and smells. The kennel is, for lack of a better term, bolted down to secure and then a wire mesh netting is secured over the kennel to further ensure it doesn't shift inflight. I've received, to date, $196.66 with a $25.00 echeck pending in paypal. With your permission - with the little bit remaining, I'd like to spring for a sweater / hoodie for her so that she will stay warm. I also made her her own sleeping bag which she'll be coming with along with her Dolphins blankie. When I do make the reservation, they will send to me, via email, instructions for where in Newark we bring her and where in Seattle you pick her up. It will be at the "cargo facility" she said and I'll make sure you get instructions. Thank you from the bottom of my heart Joe for offering to take care of our beloved pet. Her rabies and distemper immunizations and State of NJ license are all good through 2010 and she's spayed. She's an animal with a tremendous amount of love to give, very friendly and gets along very well with other animals. She asks nothing but to let out in a fenced yard, or taken out on a leash twice a day and the occasional milk bone which she adores. The rest of the day she lays on a couch, bed, chair, or floor and snores. I know she'll be in great hands.
