Please lol. We arent as bad as our record says. But in no way are we a team that can dream of 13 straight wins.
1. He gets his welcome back by getting bulldozed by long. 2. Thomas is a guard..one that your boy complimented for his power. Keep on dreaming...I'll be looking forward to the Pets annual diaper crapping at the end of the seaon. Posted via Mobile Device
I love optimism, and with Pennington, I might have been on this bandwagon, unless the learning curve for Henne is one game, its simply not going to happen. I have all the confidence in the world that Henne can be a great QB, I just dont know how anyone realistically expects him to not lose one single game on his first segment as starter. Esp. when we still have Pitt., NY, and NE on our sched. Granted I think NE is a win for us, at this point the way the jets are playing a loss wouldn't surprise me. I predict 10 wins at the most for us this yr, just MO.
The Jets won their last game on special teams blunders by Tennessee.....without those gifts you easily lose that game, "over-used" wildcat? Maybe you should pay attention more, the only thing that stops the wildcat is us not using it. That below average offense you spoke of has one of the best rushing attacks in the league... That QB you mentioned? He was playing behind the QB that embarrassed your team, your fans and the whole organization last year. You need to get over the shame of having us win the division and celebrate on that rented field of yours...
Just plain silly, I'll be happy if we win 8 games and Henne turns out to be the future QB we all hope he will be.
We might not go 13-3 but the playoffs are still a possibility. Ten wins could get us into playoffs couldn't it? The reason I titled my thread the way I did was not because I believe we will go 13-3 but to make people realize that there is still a lot of football left to play. My man sking29 said it best... Consider the AFC. Buffalo 1-2 Pittsburgh 1-2 Jacksonville 1-2 Houston 1-2 Oakland 1-2 Kansas City 0-3 Tennessee 0-3 Cleveland 0-3 The Dolphins are only one game behind or tied with half the AFC. Plus Cincinnati is 2-1 and Denver is 3-0. That won't last. We lost to the Falcons. Not an AFC team so that won't factor into our playoff chances. We lost to the Colts (3-0) and the Chargers (2-1). Both of them stand a very good chance of winning their respective divisions. If that happens those losses would not be a major factor in our Wild Card chances. The playoff race is just getting started. We stumbled out of the gate but I'm tellling you its not a big deal. Its very likely we beat the Bills and the Jets lose to the Saints this week. Then if we beat the Jets next week we will be 2-3 and the Jets will be 3-2.
Still alive to go 13-3. 1. We eliminated the big play. I know. I know. Not hard to do against the Bills. It was still great to see. 2. We eliminated the turnovers and finally caused a few instead. 3. Henne looked good. 4. Ginn is still not being used to his full potential. 5. Not one reception for Ronnie Brown. Didn't matter. However that has to change. 6. Perfect balance of running the ball inside and outside. Instead of trying to force it up the gut Ronnie made it look easy when he just ran to the corner of the endzone. 7. We got more pressure on the QB but not because we blitzed. It was because of Cameron Wake and JT. Very nice. I would still like to see Yeremiah Bell or Nathan Jones go after the QB once in a while. 8. Henne took a few shots but he didn't connect on any long pass plays. However the potential is there unless his years at Michigan were a mirage.
anything can happen especially now that the OffensiveLine has become worthy of the the title: the Orca-5
I hate to say I told you so but I told you so. I knew the Dolphins were not as bad as their 0-3 record. 1. We still need to eliminate the big play. Braylon Edwards was lights out. It almost cost us the game. However we overcame it. 2. For the second week in a row we didn't have any turnovers and for the second week in a row we won. I love how this team learns from its mistakes. 3. Henne was great. 'nuff said. 4. I hate to see any player get injured but there's a silver lining with the Patrick Cobbs injury. Maybe now Ted Ginn will finally return every kickoff if not every punt. Cobbs had returns for 23, 13, and 18 yards. Ginn went for 32 yards. 5. Gruden said it during the broadcast and I'll say it again. Ronnie Brown is very dangerous catching the ball out of the backfield. So is Ricky Williams I should add. 6. After the game Rex Ryan commented on how we often ran wide. I love how we mixed it up last night. Very smart not to keep pounding it up the gut against that defense. If we had done this more against the Falcons we might have won that game. 7. Only one sack but we did put a fair amount of pressure on the QB. Still we could have pressured him more. The big pass play to Braylon Edwards in the 4th quarter where it looked like he scored a TD is the perfect example. Sanchez had all day to throw that pass. Dialing up the blitz on third and long after the intentional grounding would have been an aggressive call but Vontae Davis wouldn't have had to cover Edwards for as long as he did. I think it was something like six seconds. That's an eternity. 8. That bomb to Ginn was a beautiful thing.
As far as your 13-3 prediction I made on last year about us going on a 10 game tear after our poor start. We won 9 of 10......just sayin.
we knew going into this game that the JESTS were undersized on defense (less Ferguson) ... so running on them was a distinct possibility -- unlike against BAL last year ... not to mention the improvement in our OL this year. the only real 'offensive' test we will face the rest of the way is NO post bye (2nd comes NE X 2)... we win that one, and we could build some much needed confidence in our DBs ... we will end up anywhere between 4-2 and 6-0 in the division -- as Henne and our DBs will continue to get better (less Wilson) ... 10-6 is a definite possibility right now ...
Allow me to clarify. Its not a prediction. Just a possibility. Big difference. If we were 0-2 I would titled the thread "Here's how we can still go 14-2." If we were 0-4 I would titled the thread "Here's how we can still go 12-4." Its just math. When you start off 0-3 the best possible record (mathematically) is 13-3. Check out this post by sking29. He basically summed up what I was getting at. Not only is the season not over but check this out... 2-3 Dolphins 2-3 Jags 2-3 Texans 2-2 Chargers 1-4 Bills 1-4 Raiders 1-4 Titans 1-4 Browns 0-5 Chiefs Only three teams are way ahead of us. The Colts, Broncos, and Bengals. We are only one game behind the Ravens, Steelers, Jets, and Pats. We can now collectively put the panic button back in the desk drawer.
