Wow...Floyd w/ a broken collarbone. Feel for the guy, he was putting up some good #'s. Arrrrrrggggggggg
About time Claussen joined the Heisman talk. With no player really separating from the pack, and his clutch performances the last couple weeks he deserves to be on the list. Whether it has lasting power will be decided in 2 weeks vs USC. Man I wish he had Floyd for that game. http://espn.go.com/college-football/heisman09/index
Claussen is a tough QB. I cant take these close games. That blocked extra point is going to come back and kill us. This should a drive for the lead. Damnit!!!
Golden Tate with the catch! Nice play. I'm a temporary ND fan for two reasons. 1) I hate USC 2) It helps Miami in the polls
Announcers saying out? He had possession with one hand and his FOOT hit before his knee. How is that out? Unless you define possession by tucking it in.
I hope to god they don't throw a fade. Such a low percentage play. I hope they go for two and ram it down their throats. I hate U$C
Whats funny is in that situation, I would have wanted the ball where it was. Decline the penalty. You need room to work as a receiver and when you push the ball up that close it makes it harder to score on a passing play.
Damn.. good game tho. Don.. you know I loath ND, but they played with great heart today and during the last drive I found myself hoping they would get this one.
some qbs got it under pressure game on the line....some dont. he doesnt have it imo.....he looked like poo on that last few plays when they needed him the most
Another ridiculous comment. Look at his stats in the 4th quarter, and in 2 minute drills. Look at his come from behind wins just this season. Basically, you dont know what you're talking about.
I agree that he played well today during that drive, but his last two passes were terrible. Also someone explain why that ball in the endzone was incomplete to me. He had possession (all be it with one hand) and his foot came down in before the knee. Does possession have to mean tucking it away? Because he NEVER bobbled it.
I thought the same thing when I saw it. No idea why the announces were so quick to brush that aside. He never bobbled it, and his foot was down before the knee landed out of bounds. I guess you have to tuck the ball away to demonstrate control?
2 minute drills? you mean against soft cvg ? good job. but i mean ice cold veins....on the 3 or 4 yard line.....with 2 or 3 plays to do something.....the slant should have been intercepted, and the last throw was terrible....the fade (which the receiever made the nice play to deflect) had wayyy too much air underneath it..... imo he looked scared and not willing to take over and score on those last few plays.
2 minute drills where the game is on the line. I guess those dont count as pressure situations to you. He had a couple bad throws at the end of one game. After bringing his team back from down 20 vs the best pass defense in the country. To you, that means he sucks. And I say, your opinion is crap. But you're entitled to it. Me, and his previous performance in those, and other situations, disagree with you. I view it this way. You can put the best QB in the world in position to win/tie a game 100 times and he wont do it every time. But he will do it most of the time, and probably the majority. Then that one time when he doesnt come through, someone uses that to say that QB sucks. I'm not saying Claussen is the best QB in the world. But he's pretty damn good, and would start on every team in football minus a handful. And a final update to further the point.
Clausen is good IMO. I've been impressed how he's developed as a quarterback. With all the questions surrounding other quarterbacks, Clausen could really benefit in terms of draft stock and slotting. On that last play, it looked like he had a Hi-Lo read and he made the wrong one. He had someone in the back of the end zone wide open it looked like but I've got to go back and watch the game. Btw, that deep ball that he threw to Tate was absolutely beautiful. I hate how high he sails the ball but man that was pretty. EDIT: I also thought that Rudolph had a touchdown. It looked like he bobbled it but managed to recover it and get his foot down.
Not sure if anyone else noticed it, but Gunnel the WR for BC and Clausen exchanged words at the end of the game. Looks like Clausen goes up to say good game and Gunnell had something to say. Wonder what it was about? There was a reporter right there, she has to let us know lol. Seriously.....why do people have a problem with the Irish? The guy walks over to say good game and he immediately starts pointing his finger in Clausen's face. Drink some more haterade, people. Choke.
