Did we need the passing game?

Did Ginn not make an impact just as a decoy at KR? Funny to see even after a blowout win people will find every little thing to ***** about.

I would have loved to have seen a Henne to Ginn deep connection, but getting adjusted to the NFL game is a process for a young QB. Lets look at the positives from todays game, Henne didn't make any major mistakes, our running game was dominant, our D was pretty dominant in it's own right, the coaching staff had enough confidence in Henne to let him throw the ball early, Davis had his first pick six, Allen snagged a few, Wake made plays, there wasn't much to complain about.

As the announcers said during the 2nd half, Henne said that it took a few games in college to get used to the speed of the game, I don't think the NFL is going to be any easier. Let him find his comfort zone, let him continue to build chemistry with his receivers and we can judge their play a few games from now. I have a feeling that we'll all be pleased where this young offense is headed.

Hey its not like Henne didn't try he looked Ginn's way on the deep routes several times but I believe he was doubled up. Again opening it up for other receivers.

interested in what henne saw on some of those plays, cause he did look down the field a number of times. rather not have ints, but would be nice to see it thrown if available, we'll see how the kid develops. first win of the season today with henne's first nfl start i have no real complaints.

Hopefully in the offseason, we can get a true #1 WR. Until then I guess we just have to be happy with 5 #2's.:shifty:

It was more directed to all the people nit picking on todays win. Which I guess includes you.

Doesn't take much to notice Henne look over Ginn's side deep only to check down to Bess or Cam.

If Henne was comfortable throwing the ball deep or into coverage, then yes. I don't think that can be overlooked. Ginn is the WR that other teams focus on, Boomer had a great post in Club (3 players thread) in which he points out that Ginn has had to learn the WR position from scratch because he's being asked to do things that he wasn't in college or his first year in the league. He's getting doubled because teams know that our other WR's aren't going to beat them deep. I think when you consider those factors and that Henne is just getting his legs under him, to expect the duo to light it up today was expecting a little much.

But we're seeing positive signs that they may, like I said earlier, it was exciting to see that the coaching staff had enough confidence in Henne to let him throw the ball early. He took a few looks downfield, some of them were overthrown, but it's a step in the right direction. And after losing our starting QB for the year, let's not dismiss the positives from todays game, we could be the ones *****ing about how our season is over and we need to tear everything down like some Bills fans are. Infact, that sounded a bit like some of the folks here last week.

The fact that we have a greenhorn in there can't be overlooked brother. Henne played a smart game, he took a couple of chances and wasn't able to connect with his receivers, I'm glad he didn't try to force the issue when he wasn't completely comfortable and hitting on all cylinders. :wink2:

I'm not a big Ginn fan as most know, but I'm not ready to pull the plug on him yet. The guy seems to have no confidence (which he has not helped with his dropped passes).

But give him a few weeks with Henne and lets see what happens.

I will admit it was nice to see Hartline in playing.

I'm ready to pull the plug. 1 catch for 4 yards and the reverse for 22 yrds. that if he stayed outside he couldve gone for longer.

he was no where to be found on the field Mr.G-innvisble

i'm down with this approach also. throwing into coverage today or taking more chances could have LOST us this game with turnovers. the kid played smart solid ball. turnovers will lose you games and our coaching staff undoubtedly spent the week repeating that to henne and the team. he played well enough to win today, if he does that every week we'll all be thrilled cause he's gonna have his lapses

Yeah, I don't have a problem with the game Henne played. He did pretty well.
Ginn was playing against backups, yet 1 catch for 4 yards?

On the bright side, I do think Henne is going to end up opening up Ginns game.....when he is delegatedto being an off the bench reciever and the designated PR/KR

    Lets see....Last 2 games totals: 1 catch, 4 yards & 1 return, 11 yards.

That is a grand total of 15 yards he has given this team in 2 weeks. Not to mention 5 dropped passes, 2 of which would have been TD's.

This is the 9th overall superstar in the making draft pick. Will ever game be like this for him? NO. However, he has more of the low performance games on his resume than the high performance games. That is a fact!

Give me players that run crisp routes, make clutch catches, and perform when called upon everyday over players like Ginn every single time.

You mean like Bess, Camarillo and Hartline?

On the other hand, we were to give him till year 3 cause that's when WR's finally develop (Might want to remind especially Bess about that

At this rate, I can't WAIT to see how damn good Ginn will be in year 4

I've been one of the many critics of Ginn but it's not like we're so loaded with candidates for #1 WR. If we had our own Brandon Marshall, Ginn would be just fine as part of the group behind our number one guy.

There may have been a few receivers Henne missed out there today, but most of the attempts down field, revealed our WRs being covered like a blanket.

Our running game is a monster.......and it's screaming for us to upgrade at WR and TE.

I'm okay with Ginn as a #2 or #3 and his main purpose is a KR. If Buffalo covered our WR like a blanked, then we need 5 new WR's. Remember 3 out of 4 of Buffalo's starters were out.

dude, i wanted willis too. that was my pick. but we needed speed receiver. he's our only one. two more games and if he doesnt produce with an arm then i agree, put him in chris chambers category. but i still have faith he'll bust out. hopefully vs jesters

I would just like to point out that Ginn still has the most total yards of the receivers on our team. Yes he clearly isn't putting up "#1" numbers but he still has more yards than any other receiver on this team.

    Yeah, I guess :shrug2:

I honestly don't have anything against the kid, and I think he is playing his heart out, I am just sick and tired of all the justification.
Every single one of his short-comings is either somebody elses fault or something he will eventually develop.
Well, this is the magical year he is supposed to have all those things we have been expecting.....yet......;crickets:

He is extremely awkward as a WR much less the "#1" guy.
He doesn't seem to have anything except raw speed.
Seems like he zigs when he should zag, every single time.

I di hope he has a monster game against the Jests, but:
    A) I certainly wouldn't count on it
    B) It won't change my opinion of him very much

Whats your point? We didn't need to throw it. Why take chances down field when their not needed.

Again most of you Ginn haters have the stupidest logic. I'm starting to wonder if you even watch the game or look at the box score because thats how flawed your arguments are.

Don't care if I'm being an *** you people annoying the **** out of me.

Dolphins roll the Bills and you still have something to complain about.

Also this isn't directed at 1 person this is directed towards many.
