So we lost last week. I throw up The U the same way after a loss as after a win. Last week was a fluke.

A fumble, a blocked punt. That was the game there. We were sloppy. A couple dropped passes. That game was NOT as bad as the score indicated. Let's be smart tonight and get another win.

Five of their front seven players are going to be top 90 picks and then they have a CB who will be a top 45 pick. I think they're in pretty damn good shape, lol.

Did you see Rolando McClain though? Very slow changing directions but simply a playmaker.

If the U takes care of business in these upcoming games in which they should be favored, they should be in the title game. Not sure how the pollsters could keep them out. I don't see there being two undefeated teams that are national title worthy going to the big dance. If it's a one-loss team you have to pay attention to the fact that Miami only lost a game in the middle of a grueling beginning schedule that saw them playing FSU, Georgia Tech, Virginia Tech and Oklahoma.

I was on pins and needles the last 3 minutes of that one. Our guys really stepped up in the 2nd half to make this happen. All those flags were ridiculous, but it didn't matter, we still pulled it out, and sent OU home with a nail in the coffin for any chance of a repeat at a National Champs game. Payback's a ***** isn't it?:woot::theu::woot:

I have to say, I came away very impressed with Harris. The poise he had after throwing 2 INT's to start the game and then go on to throw a nearly perfect game was incredible. Props to Jarvarris James and a solid show from the defense as well. We have a very good chance to run the table from here on out. If we do, we will definitely be in the national championship discussion. Florida-LSU game is going to be a good one.

    The :theu: is back.

Canes fans have not seen what we saw last night in a long time. The team could have hung its head after Harris threw two picks. They could have sulked when OU scored on its first drive. The play calling could have gotten really conservative. Could have but didn't.....

Instead we saw Harris step up and make plays. The D stepped up and created a turnover after consistently getting after OU with a passion. Miami was rolling and then the real turning point in the game arose. The BS roughing the kicker penalty was such a horrible call. The TD that it lead to could have been the moment that broke the Canes spirit. Previous Miami teams have let these calls deflate them. In the past the momentum has swung back to the opponent.

Instead the :theu: came back. The D stepped it back up and the O finished it off. No players gave up and you could see they believe now. The Canes have a legit shot at going to a bowl with one loss. That is looking way too far ahead but to have that optimism is exciting.

Words can't describe how worth it this game was. I was in the student section about mid level behind the end zone. The staduim was ELECTRIC. I am still without a voice today. I gave it everything I got yesterday. NO amount of HD 5.1 speakers can even START to compare.

    That's bad ***.

    Check this out.

Btw, I met Andy Staples, the SI writer, on Friday in school. He went to my high school and he came back to tell us what he does, how his job is, etc. Really cool guy. Gets tickets to the two biggest high school and college games every year and has to write a column on it. He was present at last night's game.

    Fellas -

Getting ready to leave the office but I had to come on here first and let you all know that the huge win on Saturday night has finally sunk in. Thus far in Randy's career, this is definitley his signature moment and proof to me that the program is headed in the right direction. I've always believed that and been a staunch supporter but this is the first time I have seen it. We manhandled a vanted OU front 7 and played like grown men. All season long I have been waiting for a leader to emerge on defense and we may have seen that with the resurgence of #31 and the emergence of #26. We all know the offense is in great hands with #12. I know Ray Ray is young - but he plays like a man. Those hits set the tone for the game. After the two huge wins against FSU and GTech, I was not one of the ones saying the U is back. Well after what I saw first hand Saturday night - there's no denying that now.

Wouldn't it be great to see a #1 overall pick in the draft from The U again?

On another note, why the hell is Joe Zagacki still the announcer for the Hurricanes. I am getting fed up with Miami football teams getting the short end of the stick with radio announcers. I listen to other team's announcers, and they actually sound better. In fact I hear Joe as enthusiastic when the opposing team has a big play or scores.

    Great article.

Zagacki is unbearable because of his voice, and Don Bailey Junior is so nauseating, it's disgusting. He makes Jim Mandich look unbiased.

Need some competent people in there.

I can't listen to Zagacki and I really, really, really miss Marc Vandermeer.

DBJ - as much as I love my Canes - his staunch homerism gives him ZERO credibility.

Agreed. I can't decide whose voice is worse: Zagacki or Cefalo. I guess Zagacki because he doesn't yell, his voice has this weird deep tone when Miami makes a big play. Cefalo has gotten a little better I guess, but its depressing listening to ESPN when they show radio bits like Brett Favre's hail mary TD.

If you have not seen the team at all this year - you'd swear they were 0-4 after listening to what Lovett and Whipple had to say today. Gotta love it!

I'll try an post some clips later tonight.

Some quotes by FAMU players. Keep in mind they aren't even D1

Harris ONE OF THE BEST THEY HAVE PLAYED? Who else have they played that has HALF of his talent

Oh yeah. All those games against teams whose players couldn't be our water boys has really prepared you for this.

D2 greatness. Please define major my good sir. What was the score last time we played? 51-10?

What you have to do is stop talking trash against a team that is going to DESTROY you.

"They are just another team on the schedule that's in our way of greatness," said Boler, who had seven tackles against Miami. "Don't let the hype distract you because I know that does it for a lot of people. I've played against them already and it's nothing major."

On the other hand, here's a good article about one of FAMU's coaches Edwin Pata, Bryan Pata's big brother.

"Edwin Pierre-Pata hasn't been to a University of Miami football game since the night the Hurricanes honored his slain brother.

And the truth is he isn't sure how he is going to feel when he actually is on the field for the next UM football game Saturday night.

``I'm trying to avoid thinking about it,'' said Pata, now the tight-ends coach for the Florida A&M Rattlers (4-0), who take on the 11th-ranked Hurricanes at 7 p.m. at Land Shark Stadium.

``I'm trying to see it as just another game, an opportunity for our team to win a football game. But I know it's going to be much more than that.

``If I start feeling it, you won't see it. I won't let it affect my players. I'll hold it in and make sure I go out and have a good game. When it's over, it's over.''

Getting over what happened on the night of Nov. 7, 2006, will never happen for Pata's family. Bryan, 22, was found shot in the back of the head, bleeding to death outside of his apartment complex in Kendall by his girlfriend just a few hours after leaving a UM practice. Police still haven't brought his killer to justice. And life has moved forward slowly for Pata's family since."
