I was one of the posters who said Ronnie Brown isn't elite, BUT, will have a terrific season in 09-10. So far, he's proving me right.
djphinfan, you said it right on the nose. He is an elite player. It is about time the league knows it too.
Yes. Not sure what mental mistakes you're referring too tbh. He doesn't miss blocks, always runs hard, hits the right holes... Ronnie volunteered for taking direct snaps in an offensive meeting when the WC was brought up. It had nothing to do with his vision. His vision has been fine, it's our offensive line that's sucked. Don't forget 2007. Before his season ended, the dude was destroying the league. He was like 3rd in rushing, had 39 Rec. for 400 yards, and 5 TD. All in 7 games. He was leading the NFL in yards from scrimmage. Not sure what vision problems you're talking about.
I am not so fond of Ronnie Brown, because he can't carry a game. His fumble into the end-zone against the Chargers cost us the game. Yes , he's had some nice games, but we struggled early on until our Defense came on fire against the Bills. Until the day he can control a game or take over like Peterson, then I will not be totally sold on him, especially how high we took him in the draft. d-1
So you're saying the first drive in the Charger game cost us the win? LOL. If this team let that first drive sink them, then we never had a chance to win anyways. Not to mention that "fumble" was charged to Penny, because he didn't stick the ball in Ronnie's gut, once it hit his hand he let go and never had control over it. That Fumble was on both of them. And its not like AP never fumbles, guy treats a football like a hot potato.
It may have been charged to Penny, but that fumble was on Ronnie. He reacted to an incoming hit and didn't get control of the ball. I hate that it happened, but it's not a mistake that will be repeated.
So there is only 1 running back in the NFL you would feel fond of on our team? Geez, you don't expect too much do you?
That was the premise of the debate...projection of a supremely talented athlete with proper variables...the GM perspective.. Some of us didnt need to see the proper variables to know what we had thats all, and that we in no way, were willing to get rid of it, or take it for granted.
