wow, this guy is more down on it that I am. At the end of the day, I still think Braylon can be a very good WR. http://www.cbssports.com/mcc/blogs/entry/6264363/17562463
Interesting how the same night that Crabtree, a player with whom the Jets are accused of tampering with, signs with the team that drafted him they go out and sweep up another big name WR.
Phew, thank god. Edwards is average. Sure he has talent, but he's never going to live up to his potential. Had the Jet's traded for Brandon Marshall, I'd be worried, Braylon Edwards, not at all.
According to Rich Cimini, the Saints game seemed to be the turning point. I haven't gotten to watch that game yet (tonight), but the Jet offense got shut down. Defense stacked eight in the box and they couldn't do anything about it.
It sure would have. The things they did together at Michigan was incredible. We all know we need a big, strong #1 WR as well. Would have been really nice... especially if we could have gotten him for a steal like this as well... Has anyone really ever developed to their full potential playing for cleveland?
remember the reports before the '05 draft about Saban DEFINITELY drafting Edwards? thank god those weren't true.
Some thoughts from a Browns fan from another message board. I've taken the liberty to bold my favorite bits: "Great for the Brownies. 3rd and 5th are better than I thought they would get. Jets fans will hate this guy as soon as they seem him blow every third down throw his way and each and every deep ball dropped like a penicillin after a date with Paris Hilton. Braylon is a physical beast, but a mental midget and a locker room cancer. I am pretty sure he wishes he was playing basketball and not football. He jumps for every pass, no matter where its thrown. Then proceeds to drop it again and again. He can be good in NYC/NJ cuz he luvs the spotlight, but the probability that he isn't the same useless screwball that he was in Cleveland are remote at best. Good luck to the Jets, cuz this guy needs a beat down in the locker room as soon as he arrives in town. Browns, I am amazed you did something good for once. Except, everyone knew you could have traded him to the Giants for a first or at min a second rounder in the off season. That may have been the best bet. We will see on Stuckey and other dude. Happy, F Braylon and his useless self. Go to Jets and get MeShawned by Rex"
Glazer reports there are two draft picks; Schefter says they're believed to be a third-round pick and a fifth-round pick.
It may not work out but I think it was a good move by the Jets. They get a young WR to match with their young QB. If they can unlock his talent they might really have something. Hopefully not and it all blows up in their face.
WTF are the Jets gonna do when this guy wants a new contract? They had problems giving Leon Washington a new contract... LEON WASHINTON! Do they not understand the premise of a salary cap?
Dallas gave up a 1st and 3rd for Roy Williams The Jets gave up a 3rd, 5th, and two subpar players. It's the equivalent of us giving up a 3rd, 5th, Erik Walden, and Reggie Torbor. All for a chance on a guy with great potential who could boom in the change of scenery like Randy Moss did. If he sucks, then they didn't give up too much for the shot.. Nothing that will set the Jets franchise back. This is not a top 10 pick here.
Braylon Edwards is expected to play Monday night against the Dolphins. He obviously won't be completely up to speed on the offense, but Edwards will be in uniform. http://www.rotoworld.com/content/home_NFL.aspx
Moss, Welker Evans, Owens Edwards, Cotchery Every team in our division has horses. The upside is we already were building to handle this. Like someone else said.. glad we drafted two corners. It will take them time to get there, but those picks look better today than the did yesterday. Mo' value son!
3rd and 5th round. According to an NFL source, the Jets gave up draft picks in the third and fifth rounds in the deal, Schefter reported. The third-round pick is a conditional pick and could turn into second-round pick if Edwards catches a certain number of passes this season. That is said to be a high number, but if Edwards lights it up in New York the way the Jets are hoping, the Browns then would get a second-round pick in return.
good trade for the jets. guess they're going for it this year. gonna be lots of pressure on sanchez now to produce
Maybe we can make the bold move and trade for Boldin. I doubt we will do it, but its always out there for discussion.
Hate to say it, but I think the Jests got a little better today. Oh, and I fully expect Edwards to play Monday night. How much is anyone's guess though. Having said all that, I agree that our picking two corners in the last draft is looking better and better. Way to go Parcells & Co. Note to all the Jests fans...bring it baby!
They even used that nickname on the Sopranos, man David Chase must be kicking himself in the balls for that.
Eh, not really. Stuckey started 3/4 games this year and has scored one more TD than Edwards this year (Edwards has none). Then consider this: Kendall Langford was a 3rd rd pick for us Donald Thomas was a 6th rd pick for us Brian Hartline was a 4th Chris Clemons was a 5th
Yes, but you have to understand that the Jets are contenders this year whether we'd like to believe it or not. They are a 1-2 player away team. Would I give up Langford and D. Thomas plus Walden and Camarillo now for Edwards...No, because those players have developed over the past 2 years into good players and giving them up means giving away core components to our team which we desperately needed when we drafted them. But consider the Jets, who are a bigtime WR and an experienced Mark Sanchez away from being a complete legitimate contending team. They don't need those picks and depth players as much as they need a big time WR. They are pretty much set at almost every position on Defense, accross the OL, at QB, and at RB. They needed a WR and they got one with bigtime potential.
we will see how this impacts them two years out. it improves them this year. i'm getting the sense that whatever they're building is going to have to be torn down in a couple of years. We on the other hand are being built for the long haul
I watched it and they just played bad,I mean really bad Sanchez was lost and the passes were not there. last two games he looked like a Qb that has been in the Nfl, Im pretty sure he will bounce back monday.
i meant it more from a , "look at the impact Williams had on the Cowboys" perspective. Roy across from TO, with Witten in the mix, and Romo slinging it. ...meh, sounded good on paper.
