i'd be scared for the woman honestly..... it really has nothing to do with not wanting to give them equal rights - i just don't think the military, as a whole, is ready for that yet. there is an inherent "good 'ol boys club" and allowing women on subs won't change that. this isn't a knock on women, just a fact of how things are. i won't even get into the possibilities. i've never served on a sub, but i've served in multiple units with women, and 9 times out of 10 it invited some sort of controversy. i just don't think the military is ready for it yet, honestly. i've seen everything from rape allegations, to whistle-blowers being admonished by entire squadrons to virtual exile and more.... if a woman accepts sexual advances from people, she's a whore. if she denies them, she's a tease & a *****. if she is (god forbid) raped, you have the possibility of a huge cover-up and a squad ganging up on her. in a submarine where you have nowhere to go and a bunch of testosterone-fueled guys that can't go home to their wives, girlfriends, and see women at the mall, restaurants, or the movies, the entire dynamic is multiplied by 1,000. as i said, i never even served on a sub and i saw all of the above just in deployments. i would think, logically, the issues would be magnified in a submarine.
Not really. I learned to love and appreciate a long time ago the wonderful difference between the male and female psyche. I prefer to leave it to my imagination why you gals do those quirky things you do.
