Man, are safties are killing us so far this year.It seems we give up long a pass every week. This has to be addressed or the saints are going to kill our secondary in 2 weeks.Clemons can not be any worse than wilson can he?At least he has some speed to keep up with the saints receivers.

Gibril Wilson is either going to have to step up his game or sit down. Drew Brees is just as good as Manning when he's in his groove, and he will make our safeties pay if they play like they did against Indy again. They weren't god awful against the Jets... but they weren't good either.

That game, for once, wasn't close because of our secondary giving up plays. It was close because we gave up penalties/fell for trick plays that gave their drives life.

I don't know if this is directed at the long pass to Clowney on Bell, but everything else aside, that was a beautiful pass. I agree though, safety seems to be our weak spot on defense.

I agree, we need to either do something with the safeties or find a way to get some more pressure on the QB. Brees will pick us apart if we don't get consistent pressure and make tackles.

    calphin deadly at 250 yards!!

while I do agree our safties could play better, I have to wonder what effect those b/s calls had on the entire secondary, after watching Wilson draw a flag for a hit that happens in every game, from pop warner to the pros.

I knew we were in for a long night

every time we get that ref, we get penalized like crazy.

I feel you on the safety play. But something scares me about a rookie corner getting deep help from a rookie safety.

I think clemons get his shot late this year early next depending on when he has a firm grasp on the defense.

That was a legitimate call. Wilson leaped and lead with his helmet. There was helmet-to-helmet contact. It was well within the confines of being called a penalty.

The deep pass to Edwards where Will Allen had coverage? That's wishy-washy. In the last 10 yards of that play, Edwards had his hands all over Allen. If anything, it could've been offensive PI.

That was a horrible call on allen but edwards should have caught the ball. That would be 3 long completetions in the same game and we will not win to many games giving up all these long pass plays.I think wilson and bell are more run stuffers than coverage guys.
I am hoping clemons will be the future free safety and add an ed reed style of play to this team.

right now we have growing pains with our two rookie CBs. Probably not the best time to add another rookie. Plus, who calls coverages in our secondary. Is it Wilson?

I think once the rookie CBs settle down a bit, we can consider it. Like you I'm hoping its sooner rather than later
