My goodness, it never seems to end with this, the Dolphins could do that, or they could extend his activation date to add essentially three more weeks to the time he would have to wait, if the Dolphins really want to push it they could wait until just before the Tampa Bay game to activate Roth.

If he is tradeable he is as good as gone if we do trade, IMO. I will be happy when all of this Matt Roth drama ends, either way. Feels like Brett Favre deja vu in Miami. LOL

Really? Did you just compare Matt Roth to Brett I should win a daytime Emmy award Farvee?

Whatever its gonna be, I hope it happens soon.

I would personally rather see him lining up as SOLB for us

This smells a bit like payback to me Az, or they really want to make certain that Roth is 100% ready to go, that is a 5 week window for Roth to be tested and make certain that he can play.

The difference is Roth on November 1, or Roth on November 15th.

I agree to some extent, and I have a feeling till Roth retires and writes a book, we won't know exactly what went on.

I do believe that if they were offered a nice pick, Roth is gone.
I also think if they aren't they will have him ready by mid-season to come in and compete for his starting spot back.

I don't think Roth will be gone AZ, this regime appreciates talent and Roth without playing is not worth very much to a different team.

To me with Roth is boils down whether or not they are happy with JT on the strongside, if they aren't we will see Roth practicing ASAP, if they are, Roth will face the long slow cold storage.

Don't understand their statement. It was brought up yesterday that he couldn't be taken off PUP until after the 6th game, which is not until 10/25. So, how could he be activated on 10/20 and traded before the 4pm deadline?

I think perhaps more than JT it could be about JP. He has been almost invisible.
I think our best chance right now has JT at WOLB, Roth at SOLB and JP and Cam wake coming in for passing downs. I know you have been mentioning this same scenario for a couple of weeks now

Hard to judge JP right now Az, two weeks of rest for his hamstring could change things, when he was right he was living in the backfield in SD.

I've been really disappointed with DC Pasqauloni to tell the truth of it, imho he has not used the JT/JP/Wake triumvirate as well as he could have, rather we have played very very vanilla defenses.

How can you have 3 players who can rush the passer or drop back in coverage and not run zone blitzes and stunts and disgusing coverages?

Roth can play DE as well.

Personally I would like to see Roth back in the lineup.

The run defense was a hair leaky at times against the Jets. But more importantly, JT got next to no pressure on the QB. Is that due to some wear and tear or was the Jets front simply effective?

OT: The two fake punts accounted for 38 yards rushing for NYJ. Without that, they had 28 carries for 100 yards (3.3 ypc) with a long of 11. So we were still pretty solid.

it will be interesting to find out what the real deal is with Roth ... healthy, not healthy ... i just can't imagine that he folded after playing last year hurt or with his field demeanor ... just doesn't make any sense. i just assume that whatever procedure he had done - was having some complications ...

Roth and a mid rounder for Merriman. Just throwing that out there.

There is a difference though, with Roth, he seals that edge so effectively that some plays to his side of the field are simply not called, last season the Staff mentioned that most teams only ran at Roth 2 or 3 times because he just blew up running plays directed to his side.

Denying the offense a side of the field helps a ton in defending.

Merriman hasn't been the same this year ... SD might be shopping him next offseason

JT will wear down as the season progresses ... everyone does - roger ... but if he continues on as our SOLB, we can't afford him to

    Two years ago, no question.

But he hasn't been the same player. He's injured this year too. I think they're growing tired of his act out there. I wouldn't be at all surprised if Smith simply lets him walk after the season.

Consequently, I also wouldn't be surprised if we pass.

Bolts are asking for a #2 for Merriman, in his year back from serious knee surgery, he won't be productive until next season and is in line for a large contract.

    AJ Smith is trippin'.

Without out a doubt. He's not the same player he was a year or so ago. Which is why I think he could be had pretty cheap

It may be one of those situations where he needs a change of scenery and a competent coaching staff. Never cared for him too much myself. But he has talent that can't be coached.

They have a pretty solid O-line that costs a bit less than ours. I believe Jt is declining but still better than most in this league, and as far as Porter the guy is less than a yr removed from 17 sacks and has a hammy if he can work through that in December were talking some good stuff

I think he had a personal problem, whatever...
but will ultimately be retained as a MiamiDolphin
the guy adds a little aggressivity to the mix
give him a break, he'll make good

    have always wondered how he'd
do as an ILB shooting the NT gap
    could make the middle interesting:nutkicker:

if this regime really appreciated talent then they would not have tried to trade ronnie brown for braylon edwards, they wouldve already signed brown to an extension.i understand theres plenty of time to sign ronnie but the better the yr he has the harder it will be to sign him to a decent contract.i have a funny feeling that we still will trade our most valuable player, maybe not this yr but a good possibility the next.

And they tried to trade Ronnie to the Cardinals for Boldin.

Ronnie B's contract gives him another year if there is no CBA in essence it is a 5yr deal...

Throw this into the mix as well:

Well, it would seem the November 1 return date is what the plan is, as soon as he straps on the pads the three week clock begins to tick...they can activate him at any time during those three weeks.
