Hi guys and gals. Wanted to stop by to offer my preview on the upcoming battle between our teams. Want to give props to your wildcat. Brown and Williams run it well, and it's impressive. Our d is finally here, and we are rolling. Our offense is amazing, as we finally have a running game. Try to stop the pass, we run and vise versa. Shaper is a serious ball hawk who may have his way with Chad henne, who impressed in his first game but is still inexperienced. Ginn is like lighting, but our secondary is playing lights out. I anticipate Greer on Ginn and Poter on Bess. Your team has a lot of heart, that win vs the jets was pretty nice. Henne is going to be really good, and I think the Big Tuna is bringing your team to the right direction. However I don't see yall pulling this game out. My prediction is 42-28, similar to the Giants game where our O line didnt let Brees get touched.

GOOD LUCK TO HOPEFULLY AN INJURY FREE GAME AND SEASON:up:

    Welcome, bro.

I am sure the game could turn that way if we let you get an early lead and have to play catch up all day.. but I think we can give you a bit more of a challenge.

    Amen to no injuries.

Welcome!:wink2: I think your success will be if we can't keep our offense on the field and score, and if our secondary doesn't play well together. If we can keep our offense on the field, and wear down your defense it could be a real close game.

Welcome,I think this game is one of if not the toughest game on our schedule. The Saints are playing good football and the Dolphins are really going to have to play tough to get that victory. I agree hopefully this will be an entertaining game and hope for no injuries.I have nothing but respect for your team and have always had respect for Brees, your team is going to make a serious run in the playoffs this year.

We absolutely have to get pressure on Brees if we're going to have any chance of winning this game, IMO...and it's something we haven't been doing well so far this season. We've been running very vanilla blitz packages and alignments, etc. He'll kill us if we give him time. We definitely don't want to leave it to Mr. lame arse, Gibril Wilson to slow down their passing game.:wink2:

the dolphins will definitely need some things to go their way in order to win simply because the Saints offense should be able to score pretty easily against our pass defense.

But I'm not convinced with the Saints defense. I think they're a group that clearly benefits from having the lead which constantly forces the opposing team to do nothing but pass. The dolphins just aren't going to do that. We don't even know how to be honest. If we can run on the Saint's, and maybe keep the ball away from brees for 6-7 minutes at a time, we may be able to sneak by.

But, like i said before, that Saints D is used to playing with the lead for a reason. And it's likely they will be again on sunday. (although i don't like saying it.)

The Saints could very well put up 42. Our secondary is still young (Smith, Davis) or simply bad (Wilson). However, I don't know if the Saints will have the ball enough times TO put up 42 points.

Miami will stick to the run and ball control offense throughout the game, which should help limit the Drew Brees show, at least temporarily. Of course, we did that to Peyton and he still lit us up for over 300 yards in just over a quarter of actual ball time.

Miami should and eill be the underdog in this game, but I expect a closer game than 42-28. It is going to depend on whether or not the pass rushers can get to Brees or not. They don't necessarily have to sack him in my view, but knocking him around and forcing him to alter his throws with their hands in his face will be needed at the very least.

Of course, if your team bus gets lost on the way to the stadium...thats fine too. :shifty:

agreed sam.....we can run on the saints.....imo the jets have a far better defense, expecially with kris jenkins in there.....and we ran pretty much all over them (and they have played us more frequently then the saints)

we keep saying we had 2 weeks to prepare which is true......but the saints are coming off a big home win against a real good (better than us) giants defense.....but they only get a week to prepare.

honestly, its tough to pick the phins in this one.....but if we keep brees on the sideline....and limit the big plays....and maybe get lucky and force a turnover on a sack or INT.....we can win this game. just gotta play fundementally sound, no mistakes, dont beat ourselves, and play miami dolphins football

Yeah, watched the first half of the Saints game on Sunday. They easily look like the most complete and efficient team we've seen all year. Going to be tough to hang with them.

Miami is going to have to play their own game near perfection and do something to disrupt them in order to win. Then again, its always possible for the Saints to just have a bad day, but that's something out of our control.

    Helluva team there.

Key to the game is ball controll. Saints are propably the best rounded team in football. Your D looks really good, but it has never trailed. If we will have some success running, and controll the clock, it might be closer than some think. But at the same time...if we go down by couple of scores, it will be a one sided show. Anyhow, I won't be wishing good luck :D Just an injury free game, and no BS ref calls, thats all im asking for..

Always good to see fans of other teams who just want to see a good game and aren't into all the trash talking.

Hopefully both teams can walk away from this unscathed and either stay on, or get back to their winning streaks. May the best team win!

Welcome! Nice to have you on the board.

I agree that this will be a serious test for both teams. The key, I think, comes down to the running game. If Miami can run on the Saints, then that will keep Brees and the offense on the sidelines, much like Manning in the Colts game. As long as we can keep it to a 1 score game we should be competitive. If the Saints come out and put up a couple of quick early scores then I see Henne pressing and maybe making some mistakes.

Should be a good game. Welcome again.

Welcome to the site, glad to have your perspective added to the mix. :)

Miami can win this game if they can control the clock and not allow Brees to get into a rhythm, that's a tall task though. I'm praying for bad weather so this becomes a ground game, lord hear our prayers.

Anyone watch the Giants game and notice how Brees was staring down receivers on every pass? It seems like he already knows where he's going with the ball before it's snapped. The keys to this game IMO are blitzing more often and continuing with our original gameplan. Run the ball, win the time of poss. battle, keep the Saints high powered offense off the field, win the turnover battle and throw the kitchen sink at Brees.

I think Snow is easier to play in than rain. Having played baseball in both, rain is brutal.

At least in snow the ball sticks to your hand. Rain is just annoying.

A slippery field always benefits the offense. The QB & receivers know where they are going. The DB's don't.

this game comes down to ball control, no turnovers and scoring 30+ points ... if the PHINS fail in any of these categories, we will lose by 10+ ... if we succeed, it will be a close game - and could even win .. a la the JESTS ...

this should be our toughest game remaining on the schedule, even including the PATS X 2 ...

Like bigbry said we may be catching the Saints at the right time after putting so much into that Giants beat down. On the other hand, going up against his former boss, Payton may have some motivation to want to win this game. So it's hard to imagine he lets his team get too comfortable.
Both teams have been stingy against the run so far. Surprisingly enough, though, and in spite of their 11 INTs, they've shown that they can be beaten through the air. In fact we're not really mismatched defensively speaking.
Rushing Defense we are #3 and they are #5.
Passing Defense we are #18 and they are #15
Overall they are #9 and we are #10.
However they have 12 sacks and 11 INTs to their credit.
    http://www.profootballweekly.com/nfl/statistics/teams/
IMO Chad Henne HAS to play well for us to win. We have to be able to rely on him to make good decisions.
This is a big test for him, and one which I think he can pass. He's shown so far to be pretty unflappable against some pretty good pass rushing teams. The Bills may be crap but they've still got 14 scks and 10 INTs. Yes 5 were against the sandcheese but so what.
    So.....if
Will Allen can avoid the PIs and holding penalties
Someone can keep Shockey from making a difference
Our OL can give Henne a little time and our running game some holes
Pass rush can get early pressure on Brees
then we have a shot at winning.
    Tall order, though.

The dolphins could be scary coming off a bye and playing at home. If the dolphins can slow down the saints offense enough and control the clock, this could be a close game. If the saints can get out to an early lead and force henne to beat them with his arm, the stadium will empty out before the game is over. I'm not a big fan of the wildcat, but the dolphins do it better than anyone and it works for them. The Eagles had some success against us with the wildcat. In their case I felt they should've ran it more until we proved we could stop it.

This is the most complete saints team i've ever seen. When we had a great defense our offense couldn't put up points. In recent years we've had a great passing game but couldn't play defense or run the ball consistently. This year we are doing all three well. When we've had injuries, the next guy has stepped up. Our LT was our 3rd LT in camp. Brees has only been sacked 4 times this season.

Our biggest weakness has to be special teams. Kickoff coverage has been an issue for us in a couple of games. I believe the giants were averaging 18 yds per kr and 6 yds per pr. On Sunday our punter had to save 2 td. I'm not sure we can kick long field goals if needed. John Carney filled in while Hartley was suspended. He has held onto the job even though hartley is back. Our longest attempt this season is 39 yards. We have gone for it on 4th and short rather than kicking 40+ FGs. Once we punted instead of attemting a 51 yd FG. If Hartley is inactive on Sunday and the game is close, special teams could be a big factor.

Thanks for thoughts on the game. It's always interesting to see how another fan views their team going against us. Well at least when they view it realistically. There are no gimme games in the NFL and it takes a true fan to look at both possible outcomes for their team.

This is the most complete team we've faced all season, by a wide margin. What I watched of that NYG game, the Saints are scarey good.

My Dad was a huge Saints fan - he liked them even more than the Dolphins. I wish he were alive to see this year's team.

Well, if that isn't the most polite "slam" i have heard in a while.

I have a different take. Number one it is in Miami. Crowd noise will make a difference. As far as stopping the run, you haven't seen the wildcat and will have a challenge defending it.

I will get into specifics later, but I smell upset. Miami is not NY & actually, matches up much better.

I agree with that. I think we should match up pretty well. I'll be interested to read your thoughts; but here are some of my own.
It seems to me NO had a very tough time against the 3-4 looks that the Jets were giving them.
Brees had an okay day, but nothing special. 20/32 190 yds 0 TDs 0 INTS.
We are better than the Jets with some of the defensive sortables such as sacks and INTs.
We are also a better run stopping team.
The fact is they greatly benefited from a poor showing from Sandcheese.
If we can play our style of defense and Henne can avoid the INTs we stand a good chance of winning.
