for my mom, who is having surgery tomorrow to remove a mass from her lung. they were unable to get a good biopsy of it, but it did light up as cancerous on a pet scan using whatever dye they inject in you to determine that. so basicly they will open her up, deflate the lung, remove the mass and send it to pathology while she is still on the O.R. table. if pathology confirms that the mass is cancerous as we suspect, then they will remove a lobe of her lung. so we don't know for certain what we are facing at this point. on the plus side, she is fairly young, at 60, and hopefully that will help in her recovery or the fight against cancer that is coming up. on the negative side, she has smoked for 40 plus years and that damage is already there. i appreciate y'all taking the time to remember her. God Bless!
A little too much deja vu here. You have my prayers and best wishes for your Mom and whole family. I have sat where you are sitting with my late wife and it is scary. It is likely surgery will be only the first step. Stay strong and know we will have all of you in our prayers!
their first and middle names are Helen Elaine, and Ruby Helen, respectively. thanks everybody, it means alot to me! never would have believed an online message board would become such a huge part of my life. but it has, and that is due to the quality of people who frequent it! you have my respect and gratitude, everyone! Thanks again!
You, your mom and your family will surely be in my thoughts and prayers. May God strengthen and bless each and every one of you.
i am happy to report that the mass they removed from my mother's lung today was not cancerous. to say i am relieved doesn't even begin to describe how i feel right now. pending the final pathology report, they are pretty certain it was dead tissue remaining from some previous infection or possibly pneumonia. so basicly, we got the best possible news! once again, i want to thank you all for taking the time to send your kind words and prayers our direction. i am humbled and honored, everyone!
My prayers of thanksgiving went up immediately! Praise God! Give your Mom my best! This is glorious news.
