I ask all of you to please pray for the family, friends and all those who knew Jasper Howard of the Connecticut Huskies. My brother and I both attended UConn and his untimely death has hit home with my family. This despicable crime will not go unpunished though. They already have somebody in custody, though the police do not think he is the one who committed the murder, he gave the police a false name. Which tells you that he knows who did it and is hiding something. Let us pray.
I don't pray but you and his friends and family have my sincerest sympathies and condolences. I hope the NCAA allows the team to wear his number on their helmets for at least the remainder of the season if they ask to. R.I.P. man.
A guy from Clemson who used to play with Jasper asked his coach if he could switch his number to Jasper's for the game this weekend and the coach agreed.
Truly a tragic incident. My best goes out to that young man's family, friends and anyone else that was associated with him. I absolutely hate the fact that someone's life was cut so short. I hope that justice has it's day with his attacker.
I feel horrible for this kids family, really do. Also hate how on ESPN they made it some big deal that he was able to "escape from Miami and find a better life". Not all of the Miami area is bad, just because you are FROM Miami doesn't mean you were in danger your whole life. Give me a break. If he lived in a bad neighborhood say he escaped from a bad Miami neighborhood. That really pissed me off.
Yeah, that's total b.s. Every community has a bad area. Apparently the witnesses of the murder are being threatened now. http://sports.espn.go.com/ncf/news/story?id=4587838
Thanks for posting that. I hadn't seen that memorial video. It brought me to tears. And for the people who are threatening witnesses with violence, they are just as guilty as the scumbag who stabbed Jasper. Their doom awaits them.
Jasper was from little Haiti. I haven't liven in So. Florida in years so I don't know how bad that area is, but I think he was trying to escape the violence of the area. That was the way the original articles stated it. As for the better life, he was escaping Miami for a better life because his goal was to make it to the NFL to take care of his mom. I gathered from the story that the family probably wasn't well off.
I'm not talking about the article, I'm talking about on Sports Center. They did a piece and multiple times referenced what a bad place Miami is.
In some areas, but is it any worse than a lot of areas in California? It's always South Florida that gets the worst reputation and it's just annoying.
This thread isn't about the crime in South Florida though. It's about Jasper Howard. May he rest in peace. This crime will NOT go unpunished. Trust me.
One can only think that if Jasper was still alive, he might have made a play that could have changed the outcome of the game today. Regardless of the loss, I thought Connecticut played a good game. They had the lead with 3 minutes to go. I really thought they were going to pull it out. Needless to say I am very disappointed with the outcome, but it does put things in perspective. It's just a game....a great game......but you know what I mean. RIP Jazz. We all love you.
I know its a tough time brother and if u ever need someone to talk to u always have ur brothers here.
Thank you dolphan. I have a question for the moderators. I tried updating my photo to a picture of Connecticut's coach with a CT player walking off the field after the game, and it didn't work. My question is, do the moderators have to approve of the photo before it's posted to my profile? I tried uploading the photo numerous times and it hasn't worked. Thank you.
If you PM one of the Mods, you're likely to get an answer faster. Fin Fan In Cali, Celtkin, Muck, Motion, or Jt0323 are a few that should be able to help you out.
